Well, I just got back from my weigh in, and I've lost over 5kg this fortnight!!!

I'm pretty pleased about that.

Went walking yesterday, first at Roma St Parklands, then around Ikea. There's a new Ikea near us, and it's MASSIVE. MASSIVE doesn't quite explain it, it's bigger than that. It's a Darned long walk around it all.

Hi Everyone,
No drop in weight again for me today. Very discouraging so early on but anyway I'll just keep plugging away at it.

asyoz - Congratulations on your weightloss!

RJM - I think most of the clinics do a payment plan don't they? Very silly if they don't. It probably dosn't help but Geelong clinic has a payment plan.

Jewls - A deviation can be something as simple as using more than your recommended allowance of onion....maybe a cup too much of coffee( if not decaf)..or maybe something like a little sprinkle extra of spices. Even not sticking to the 5 hour rule can compromise it. Go through your plan and you might be able to pinpoint it. First time around on the diet I was eating broccolli for the first month and didn't realise it wasn't on my plan. Onion is my biggest weakness and I have to be careful not to over induldge.

Annemarie - Welcome I am on the diet for the second time using my original plan. It's early days and I'm not sure if it will work but I am hopeful. I believe my weight has come back on for two reasons..... 1. my refeeding was compromised for the first 4 days before I sought help. I struggle mightly with the amounts on the diet let alone the refeed and I was vomiting. My plan was adjusted after the four days but who knows if that did damage? 2. I skipped into some old habits...milk in my coffee, skipping breaky, then lunch and stopped drinking my water.

I am eating the most delicious stirfry for lunch today. I switched my lunch and dinner around to see if it triggers something.
Keep up the good work!

Myshy

Hi there everyone......I am new to the forum also, but have been reading your posts daily for the past 2 weeks. So much happens in 2 weeks.

this is my 2nd time on Cohens (first time interupted by family issues) of which I am at the begining of my 3rd week.

I do have a question for anyone who can help; my weight-loss has practically stalled this past week, loosing 3.6kg in week 1, week 2 only saw 1kg......I am sticking to the plan as prescribed and my body is even in ketosis???

Is there a problem if you stick to the same meals each day? I tend to stick with my favourite each day?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.....I am determined to finish.....

Hey all,

BRIEZIEL & LIVING IT - weighed in this morning and im down 10.8kgs. Not bad Id say. Was hoping it would be some amazing amount like 12 - 15kgs, but hey, Im 10.8kgs lighter then I was 4 wks ago, so pretty impressed. Cant wait to hear your outcome today Brieziel, so be sure and post it asap. Living It, a week to go and youll be letting us know your amazing outcome. Keep up the great work girls.

JEWLS - Sorry to hear about your pain. Sure it will lessen soon for you. You will soon be more active once they remove the cast you have on and put you into a shorter one. Hang in there and dont get too discouraged. Youre doing an awesome job.

Hope everyone has had a lighter day.

Cheers

O.k all, Weighed in this morning and am down to 93.6kg. total start weight was 103.13kg. so almost 10kg lost. Wildskyz congratulations, well done on almost 11kg, andLiving it 12kg - thats AWESOME!!!!! I'm sooooooo Jealous!
My consultant reckons the average is around 1.5-2kg loss a week which is between 6.45 and 8.6kg a month (or 7-9kg if you like round figures), so we are all above average!!!
My weight loss seems to have really slowed in the last week and a bit, i lost almost 4 kg in the first week and a futher 3 kg in the second, the last 2 weeks have been on "DRIP Fat loss" which is a bit frustrating.
Jools good luck for your weigh in.
I also decided to measure myself today. i measured on my start day, and then went to measure exactly one week after and i hadn't changed at all.... i got the shits and decided to measure once a month and weigh weekly (a bit backwards i know - but the weigh in keeps me motivated!)
So measurements lost: 5cm from my bust/back
5cm from my waist
2 cm of each arm
1cm off my hips
1 cm off each thigh
i figured thats pretty good, although i thought i'd lost more off my hips - as i know for sure my supersize JLo butt is getting smaller!! but i suppose Butts are like bra sizes (Cup size -ie DD or AA or E) you can lose a cup size but still be a 34 or a 14!!! so i think i'll tell my self that my "butt cup" size is now a 16DD rather than a 16E (giggle giggle!).
good luck everyone, another weekend completed and another weekend closer to our goal weights!
hang in there, we can all do this (Even if we have little set backs - remember "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger" ..... or rather "what we don't eat makes us thinner!")

Blood Tests

Hey Jewls and anyone else concerned about blood test results I vaguely remember reading something about the blood tests being neccessary for them to check we are on the right track and our program is working the way itshould. I found one of my old tests from 1st time around in 2003, and it listed all sorts of things (chemical names like sodium potassium etc) After each one it would have a number eg 24 - 47 which would be the acceptable range for that particulal chemical. Next to one of mine the number was high, and the footnote said it could be due to a viral illness, or a certain medication. I wasnt concerned as the weightloss was happening and the clinic didnt contact me. I gather that if things are so out of whack that it affects health and/or weightloss they would question us regarding whether we are sticking 100% to it, and if we are the program may be altered. I dont know if this is the case, but if the clinic isnt concerned, (or whoever tests the blood) and you arent deviating I wouldnt worry. I hope this makes sense.
Brieziel, living it and wildskyz all of you congratulations, this is a major achievement, imagine how long it would take to do that through another method like weight watchers, probably about 12 weeks. Way to go!!!
rjm I do think the clinics all have payment plans now. Keep in mind when you decide what to do, that the cost of this program sounds high initially, but I did weight watchers - $33 to register, then $17 per week, and if I was lucky I might lose 1/2 kilo per week. Looking at 30 kgs, that would take aprox
60 weeks, and cost aprox $1020. (not to mention all the money on special food for the recipes, and the magazines, cookbooks etc) On Cohens I actually save about $50 per week on grocercies, so it actually pays for itself in just over 13 weeks. (which by then, the majority of the weight is lost.) It's not the easiest decision to make when you've forked out the money before, but you'll know whats right for you. Pm me anytime.
annemarie and rjm is there anyone in your life who could hold you accountable, that you would seriously be embarrassed to be answerable to? Or maybe you could pay your husbands the money (either on a plan, or upfront) and get it back at the end (think shopping for new clothes), but if you dont succeed within the six months, they get to keep it to spend on whatever they want. I dont know just a suggestion which may save you money in the end. I believe my old plan worked, but after 3 years of stuffing around it was time to start fresh. I have posted this before, but the reason I went off the first one was because I fell pregnant 7kgs off goal, then miscarried. It was disappointing to have nothing to show at the end of it. But I had to stop living in the past and get over it. Life is too short to muck around, and really what price can you put on health and happiness. Whatever you decide, you will still be better off financially than if you choose a different way to lose weight, like WW, Jenny Craig etc to name a few. Whatever you do, make up your mind to do it before life passes you by. In less than 6 months, you can be getting so much more out of life than you are right now. Also think of the health benefits - feeling less stressed, better sleep, better skin, more energy. Its just an easier than usual detox - we dont even have to eat seaweed, or bust our butts jogging. Sorry this is such a long post. Hope it helps you guys.

BRIEZIEL - Congratulations! What a great weight loss. Dont be disheartened. Youre doing wonderfully well and remember youre that much lighter then you were 4 wks ago. And most importantly, youre on your way to a new, sexy healthy YOU! Dont forget that.

Everyone is doing soooooo well here. Its an amazingly inspirational forum. Thank you to all of you for sharing your ups and downs. Nice to know were not alone.

Were all on our way, if not there already, to an exciting, lighter future.

Cheers

Thanks L-Jay.
I have no problem at all with the money, and don't regret for one minute paying it out the first time. The only reason I am interested in a payment plan this time is because we are in the middle of starting up a small business and are so broke it is not funny which makes paying out a lump sum of $600 not really do-able at the moment, but a payment plan would solve all my problems.
I am not having any problems losing the weight on the old plan it is keeping it off that I'm struggling with which is why I think I need a new plan. The last time I completed it I felt like my body had been reset and I had no trouble keeping my weight and my eating under control, but I really feel like I have upset this balance and they say that you can only use your old program if your weight stays within 4-5kg of your finishing weight (goal weight), so I think a new plan is in order.
I am going to get back on the old plan tomorrow until I can sort something out with the new plan.

Thanks again

rjm The consultant that I went to lives locally on Bribie Island in Queensland, Australia. Her name is Bronwyn, and she is listed in the consultants page on the Cohen's website. The cost of my program was $AU 670. In the advertisments in the local papers (which incidently, I am about to 'star in' *blush*), it says that payment plans are available. Where do you live? I forgot to see if those details were in you posts. I know that she has had clients living in other areas and she does all the 'consulting' via phone and/or email. So perhaps that is an option you could explore. Bronwyn has been great and I have nothing but praise for her. She always answers emails promptly and goes out of her way to find answers for questions she doesn't have immediate answers for. Hope that this info helps!

Thanks

Beautiful Bride is on a distinguished road
I live in Hervey Bay and there is no clinic here so I get support via phone and e-mail from Bronwyn also - she's lovely! Today is only my first day on the program and I have a very important question for all of you... I followed the program exactly today and I ate the following:
7:15am - 1 egg, 85g veg
10:15am - 150g mango
12:30pm - 110g tofu marinated in balsamic with 110g salad, and a small apple

I drank water all throughout the day, but then at about 4pm i started feeling really nauseaus and very faint. I left work and was feeling REALLY bad. Unlike any feeling I have ever had. Really light headed and strange, only mild headache though. I then seemed to almost pass out on my bed for a few moments. I vomited twice a bit later on which seemed to slightly eleviate my symptoms but it is still really horrible. Please tell me that this is not a symptom of starting this program? People at work were saying i should have some sugar (ie; lollies) but i wouldn't. I ate fruit today so that surely has enough sugar that our bodies need?? If anyone has any ideas of what may have caused this please let me know because it's a bit concerning.....
Anyway, I am going to go and make my 'crispbread pizza' and hopefully keep it down. Sorry for such a 'yukky' post.
Thanks

Hullo Lighterme....I must have started on the same day as you, cos I have just had a disappointing weigh in at the start of week 3...only .8kg after -5kg
the 1st week. My consultant says only weigh once a month & then you dont get downcast! (or overoptimistic!)

Must ask, is anyone else having mixed readings from digital scales? Mine are new, but I've just found that I can get 6 different readings varying by 1.5 Kgs if I get on & off 6times (well I'm such an optimist )

Beutiful bride- It sounds like your body has alot of toxins in it! I was really nauseas when I started too for the first week and a half and my consultant told me it was the detox. If you're vomiting, especially on your first day, you might what to see a doctor and/or speak to your consultant, it could be a virus, or your body may be in shock.

I have a weigh in tomorrow and will get the results from my blood test- I'm expecting 'deviation' because I am more than generous with the curry and garlic powder! I'm not fussed, my weightloss is going pretty steady, I have good weeks and bad weeks but I couldn't stick to it if I couldn't have some flavour, and honestly, what is a teaspoon worth gonna do?

Fifi- Honestly sounds like your scales are possessed! I have a weigh in at the clinic every two weeks- to keep me on track (because not many people could go a whole month without seeing some reward) and because the clinic's scales are the only scales I trust. They are the scales that gave me my starting weight and they will give me my goal weight. So maybe you could just stick to the one set of scales and only every couple weeks? I hope this helps

Lighterme- I wouldn't worry too much, your body works in a 4week cycle, the first couple weeks are always substantial loss, the next two can be disappointing. I was disheartened to only losing 200gms in my 3rd week, but for the whole month I unexpectedly lost 9.2 kgs so just forget about numbers until monthly weigh in- you may be suprised

Rjm- Sugarene is allowed, not very nice tho! theres another one that starts with a H (hermatice or something weird sounding) I haven't tried it tho, I avoid sweetner at all costs, don't like the after taste

welcome to annemarie and good luck!

congrats to Breziel, wildskyz and Living it for your killer results! I will post mine tomorrow after weigh in, you should all be so proud!

Also a quick question- this week my face has broken out majorly (not just the little red annoying pimples, but the big festy sore ones, and also on my body (I get them on my chest) and I have been incredibly tired and hungry and craving bad greasy food- I don't know what is going on, I feel like i did when I started the program, almost like my body is detoxing again. Does this sound familiar to anyone? does anyone know whether the 4 week cycle includes the body detoxing itself? or could it just be stress?

Hi all,
Mermaid_sister, it's not coming up to "that" time of the month is it? I know when I was on Cohens the first time, it played havoc with my periods, and at one stage I was getting them every 2 weeks!! I also get really bad cravings the week before I get my period, but find extra chromium helps. Thanks for the sweetner tips. I thought that you weren't allowed hermaseatas (spelling?) any more though???
Beautiful Bride, sounds like your body is doing a major detox. I also get very light headed during the first couple of days on Cohens, and can get quite bad headaches. I would definately check with your clinic though, as I haven't heard of anyone vomiting before. Try drinking heaps of water to flush the toxins out faster. Hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

I think talk with your consultant, since it is your first day/hours I doubt detox (because you having started metabolising fat). I also agree with your coworkers sounds like low low blood sugar, your body is just not used to not enough carbs.

You are a vegetarian right?, may I suggest a more gentle tofu dish not marrinated in Balsamic, Basamic I think is quite a strong food, I feel quesy if I have too much vinagar on empty stomach. Can I suggest a more soupy, vegetable and tofu dish for lunch tomorrow.? Stewed apple also may help
