Rep Power: 0 | | The Time Has Come!!! It is Saturday 20th January 2007 and I am on my 2nd day of the Cohen's Eating plan. I have really big expectations of this diet. I have read heaps of others stories, and all I keep seeing is how huge the amount of weight loss each person has in such a short time...Is this what really happens if you stick to it properly???? I am like most others, tried everything, lost weight, then put twice as much back on. I am so over being the size I am and feeling the way I do...God I hope this works for me! I am wondering if someone could tell me if I weigh up 105grams of a cooked chickens breast from a roast chicken, without the skin...Is this correct???? Is it the same as the 105grams of raw chicken breast that I have to cook????? It just seemed so much to have when I weighed it up for my lunch today and yesterday..But of course I ate it, as I was told to eat everything that I had to.
I have also a husband who doesn't really support me in my diets, he just sees it as another waste of money that won't work, as I give up. I guess he is right with that, but atleast I try...
I am determined to make it work and keep it off this time. I have to for my little girl, and for an easier life for me...
I am not sure how to work this program, but I am going to try and attach a weight tracker to it....So better go see what I gotta do..talk again soon. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | welcome fatwhome. You have found the right diet.I'm only new to it but it is possible and it does work.
From what I read in the plan you have to weigh your checken raw. The cooked weight is less than the raw so you just can't have the precooked stuff at the moment. I may be wrong and I'm sure someone will back me up on this one.
But welcome and good luck

Welcome to the program fatwhome! I think you will find this forum an invaluable resource in regard to support and inspiration from fellow losers! Katydidnext is right about cooked meat weighing less than raw. If you're going to take your allowance from cooked meat, take away 20 - 30% of what you were allowed. So if you want to tuck into that roast chicken (without skin lol ) and your allowance for that meal is 105g, then take approximatly 80g. I personally prefer to cook all my meat myself, that way it seems like im eating the full amount lol, and not a percentage of what i am allowed!
Good luck on your journey!

Weighing raw is the recommended method for everything meat, seafood, veg etc.
Don't deviate from the plan read it over and follow it precisely it is the only way you will see results.
Once you get into the rythm of this programme it becomes easier and much more manageable.
You will prove your hubby wrong when he see's a slimmer you very soon. My husband noticed in the first two weeks he commented on my face being slimmer.
You have the secret to quick weightloss in the palm of your hand so treat it as your bible for the next few month's and read it every day. Experiment with different recipes go to the recipe thread here and find some great idea's.
With my first month I kept my meals pretty basic I just wanted to get quantities and ingredients correct but now I am becoming more adventerous.
And don't forget to drink your 3 litres of water a day this is very important to achieving your weightloss.
Hope this helped.
All the best
Sam

Rep Power: 0 | | | Thanks Heaps Thankyou everyone that replied to my posting...Thanks for the chicken info also... I think i pretty much knew I was having to much with the cooked stuff, just didn't want to admit it to myself....I hope I haven't stuffed my start up..I am on the right track now, and I am also keeping my meals fairly simple for a while... I have an egg and tomato and 1 cracker in the mornings, chicken, salad and 2 crackers at lunch, and meat, veges and 2 crackers for dinner..with my 2 pieces of fruit as morning and afternoon tea. I feel fairly good on this...I am weighing everything correctly...just so hard when cutting that skin off the cooked chook not to eat it ...but I haven't, gotta be strong..I think I will just do away with cooked chooks, and cook my own each time, then there won't be any temptations with the skin. Everyone on here seems so great with replying to everyones posts...I have been reading this forum for a few weeks now, before I started, and it really got me wanting to join....Also, I can't put my tracker thingy on here, it just doesn't work, I am doing what it says..???? Any suggestions? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | What is Cohen's LV - this is their website in Australia Weight-loss and Wellness through Nutrition - Cohen's Lifestyle Clinic
I think in the US you can do an internet based version of the program, and it's called something like 1st Personal Diet.
Cheers!

Your very basic question has alarmed me somewhat!
As you are in Queensland haven't you had an induction interview with your counsellor? If you have had the interview didn't they explain the program? If you have not had the inverview because of eg distance, then get on the phone and have the induction interview by phone.
It is most important to understand the program.
This means read it.
The word 'raw' is printed in the program. If you have trouble reading - and many people do - then please have the counsellor read it to you and discuss it.
Otherwise, you have spent your money and may as well have just bought tins of diet food from the supermarket for all the good the program will do for you.
This program is for real, requires accurate weighing of all foods and there is no going back.
If, from the outset, you just bumble along you won't get the results you have signed up for.
For the visitors, this program is Weight-loss and Wellness through Nutrition - Cohen's Lifestyle Clinic and is just amazing. It does not count calories, it does not have 'free' foods, it weighs everything exactly for that specific individual person.
The program requires blood tests to be taken at intervals before and thoughout the weight loss program so that the weight loss and refeed programs can be tailored exactly. The refeed program reintroduces complex foods back in to the diet and thus the chances of maintaining goal weight are dramatically improved.
I was on the program from 4th February, 2006 at 85 kilos to 24th June, 2006 at 60 kilos and today 21st January, 2007 still weigh 60 kilos.
This section of the weight-loss forum is set aside for people on the Cohen's Lifestyle Program so that we don't get cluttered up with all sorts of diet fads and variations.
We also have New You Community Forum :: Index which, again, is just for Cohens participants. These are not affiliated with Cohen's in any way, just people supporting people.
fatwhome? please go back to Square One and read and reread the program.
You will be slim and slender before you know it!
Cheers
Kristine

Rep Power: 0 | | | Me too! Hi FW?
We're Cohen's buddies! I began Cohen's on Friday 19th Jan 2007 also. It's nearing the end of day 3 for both of us.
I spent the day cooking up food for the rest of the week. If it's all organised, I'm less likely to deviate. I even have a list of what I'm to eat every day. It seems very over the top - but I figure if I set the wheels in motion early to do this right - then I'll probably follow it all through.
I just seem to be OBSESSED by food though .. I'm counting the seconds to my next crispbread - or waiting for the clock to tick over to 8.00pm so I can eat again. Having said that, I'm not hungry.
Odd. I'm just odd.
Anyway, I will enjoy watching your progress, and I hope we can motivate each other on this journey!
CD

You are in no way odd -in fact in my opinion the way you are starting shows how determined you are and this means a greater chance of success.
I felt as if time has slowed down and the only thing I thought of was "Am I going to be home in time to weigh my food....".
I did this for about the first month and now at 10 weeks it is all pretty automatic to me - sometimes now I think "Oh it's already time for my crackers"
Once you are through those first days it is easier - and organisation and thinking ahead are the key.

Hi fatwhome
why exactly can't you get your ticker up?
I got stuck intially because I didn't realise you had to enter a pin number once I did that and followed instructions it was fine.
Let us know
