Coffeeeeeeeee.....

No need to say that although I have been sticking to Cohens for 2 weeks now - I am so proud of myself... I have not lost a lot on the scales
but 13 cm in week 1 and 9cm in week 2 - should this be more?

I am desperate for a milky coffee and just cant stand black... tried it 3 x now... oh i dream on Gloris Jeans

has anyone had a skinny latte and how has this diversion aftected weight loss? If I just have one what will it do - seriously? just slow the wieght loss down or make it cease altogether.
I am mostly struggling with the socila side of my life and avoiding pubs, dinners out and family gatherings... its so hard - i have seen every movie out there now!

I am also hoping to get some exercise - anyone reccommend what to do as I do feel pretty tired and hungry most nights. I may try a walk today and see how that goes - will take crackers in case I start to get cranky!!

hope everyone else is doing well. I think its so great that ii dont have chocie cravings at all..

let me know how you are doing
and I hope to see less of you and me soon

Hi Envigor8

I recommend that you stick to plan it won't stop your weight loss but slow it down considerably.
Try not to cave in to the temptation.............for me my weakness is cahews I just opened a packet and inhaled we always keep a jar of cashews my husband and children love them too.

I know it's hard we all have our fixes but Cohen's is all about portion control
and your sugar levels will be affected by this deviation even if it is a small one and your cravings will return.

Take care
Sam

Thumbs down What The....

Hi envigor8, your cm's loss for the first two weeks is great!!! With regards to the coffee and the excercise you need to ask yourself some serious questions? Are You SERIOUS about losing the weight for good? Do you want it bad enough?? Because from where I am sitting it doesn't sound like you do! You've only completed your second week and your already wanting to deviate and go against the program rules and guidelines.
You need to be sticking to this program 100%. The slightest deviation can stop your weight loss for a week or even make you gain, not only that it will throw out your blood tests. You blood work does show whether you have been deviating and you need to stick to ithe program so very closely so that Dr Cohen can create the absolute best possible refeed plan for you, so that you will Never have to diet again!
If the plan says not to exercise if you are not already, well then don't exercise!
If it says no milk then that means NO MILK. Get it??
I don't want to sound harsh and I appologise if I do, but if you are serious about this and you do want to be slim and stunning then you need to stick the the rules and follow your consultants advice.

envigor8: I hear you! I was a long mac girl before this program, now I'm used to and enjoy good black coffee or espressos more funnily enough. But I have to say, you only have small amount of weight to lose. I reckon I have 11kg on one ass cheek to get rid of!
I am a social coffee drinker/pub goer/restaurant eating girl. Hows not having these for nearly a year sound to you? I don't want to say your journey is any easier than anyone elses, but you will be finished before you know it. If you stick to it 100%, you should be done in maybe 2 months? You have less to lose, so the scales aren't going to show massive numbers.

Be patient. Take each day as it comes. You will enjoy your skinny coffees at refeed. Just get there first!

Goodluck

envigor8 I was always a white and 1 coffee drinker, loved my coffee. At my consultants suggestion I made sure I bought a good quality coffee and have now taken to black with 1 hermasetas quite well. I don't know how I will go after refeed but at the moment it is quite enjoyable. In fact, I have bought a couple of long blackas recently and thrown them out because I havenn't enjoyed them as much as my instant, if I'm not liking it, I'm not wasting any of my valuable sweeteners on them. Go and check out the supermarket and buy a small jar of Moccona or nescafe freeze dried and see how the taste suits, the sweeteners certainly help too. Just like everything else about Cohens, you need to experiment WITHIN the plan, if you cheat, it is only you that you are cheating. Good luck.

Envigr8 I'm with you, I am losing soo slowly.I'm also on my 2nd week and the scales are not happy. I am losing cms so I shouldn't complain.

I am a milky coffee girl and tried cutting down to 2 teaspoons of milk in it as I loove my coffee. Then one day guess what I had a moccona black coffee with 1 hermesetas and it was lovely.Never in a million years was I going to be able to drink balck coffee, but now I can and it isn't half bad.
Keep trying, it isn't worth slowing your loss down or you may end up stopped altogether, and just one will probably lead to next week, just one and then the next week and you may never get there.

Sorry KAty but I am confused - you are in your second week -14 days and your ticker says you have lost 6kgs - just that your other post siad 2.8kgs in 12days - Had you lost some before you started??

Try not to let it mess with your head - it takes a while for your head to catch up with the shrinking body. I am only just starting to recognise that the person wearing size 12 is me in the mirror - cos I'm used to seeing me as a 16.

Hi Envigor 8

Maybe you could start with a weak black coffee and then intensify the taste as you get used to it.
I choose to drink green tea and just generally sticking to the herbals.
I have always been a big tea drinker+milk so now I try a weak black tea when I am out.

I forgot to mention in my last post to you that my other major craving before cohen's was chocolate "was" being the operative term I am not even tempted anymore I still buy it for my hubby but i am not tempted anymore.
When I went out and about I always had to get a choccie as a treat.
Now I have my crackers, fruit and gum instead.

sorry about that losing. I lost some before I got my plan by using another persons plan while I was waiting for mine. Naughty I know but I was gaining it so fast by having 'last suppers' every meal I had to do something.
I wasn't sure what to do about the ticker. I wonder whether to have a personal one somewhere else and my Cohens one on here.
I'm waiting for my body to catch up with my head. I'm a reverse anorexic. I think I'm a size 14/16 until I catch sight of myself in the mirror and realise I'm actually a 22/20.Aren't we all so funny.

Cool cofeeeee

I use almond milk and stevia as my sweetener if I am tired of black and need something sweet and YUMMMY. I don't know much about the diet you are on so I don't know if this is a good suggestion or not

Hi
Thanks for the suggestion - sounds like a good alternative.

However - we are not allowed while on our program

I, and my mother were both reverse anorexic's!
i was squeezing into a size 16-18 and i thought i was a sexy piece of @#$*!! - even when i looked in the mirror, or at a photo, i'd look at the bits i liked and thought looked o.k and i'd ignore the parts that said otherwise!
i also looked at other people who were size 14's and used to think i was the same size.
My mother also thought I WAS FAT, and that she was o.k - please note for the record, she was AT LEAST 10-20kg heavier than i was at my fattest. it took me offering a pair of my fat pants for her to wear (which didn't fit her - too tight) for her to realise that perception can be very very distorted.
She actually spoke to a Psychologist friend of her's to ask if such a thing had actually been diagnosed, but as yet, it's all about the Anorexia Nervosia, and no Anorexia Fatosia!

thanks
i had a shot and some ice with a dash of milk and am now shaking like a leaf... so i think as you are all SO right... i can actually do without it.
i guess after being so 100% for 2 weeks and not losing as much as i thought I am dissappointed - but maybe its the catching up with the head thing too.

I have so much respect for those that can do this diet well - its the hardest thing i have ever done... and i realise that my biggest problem was my willpower... so i am going to focus on that - i actually am amazed at how the cravings have stopped. And I am never really hungry these days. Its a scientific miracle really. Thanks for the encouragement and telling-off I actually do appreciate it - its good to hear it from others.

going fishing today for the first time - so i have something to do other than think about portion control and food!
have a good one

What size?

Hi katydidnext, losing and others with 'mirror blindness'

It has taken me months to get used to seeing me in the mirror.

I finished on 24th June, 2006 weighing 60 kilos and still weigh 60 kilos (27th January, 2007), and am sitting here in my size 8 stretch jeans (this pair are a little loose and require the occasional hitch to keep up) - and yet when I look in the mirror I still 'see' the distended midriff, the huge belly and the thunder thighs.

The tape measure says I lost more than 1.1 metres, the clothes say I dropped from a very squeezy (I had to lie on the floor to do the zips up) size 16 - 18, yet the 'amputee' syndrome is active in our minds and I still see the 87 kilo me.

We cannot expect that our imprint will change as quickly as our reality. Even if my belly was concave (which it will never be) I see the smooth rounded shape as 'big' and not as 'sleek'.

All in all, I look good, I feel good, and I am very proud of myself. I may never 'believe' my appearance again or I may believe it in a year or two.

I certainly know that 'reverse imaging' is alive and well in our brains, but it is called 'denial' - I have passed clothes along to friends who have handed them back - I know they can't get into them but they have said 'Oh, that's not my colour'.

envigor8 - remember that milk is not on the program for a number of reasons, not just to punish us! I used to drink sweet sherry every day, and it was an important part of my day, sitting and sipping out on the porch while my husband cooked dinner inside - he used to write the date on the label, it was a standard joke!

While I was on the program I occasionally poured a teaspoon of sherry and went outside and licked it. How sad is that? So I understand where you are coming from with a yearning for the milky coffee.

However, after a couple of weeks I forgot about the sherry and now it doesn't appeal to me at all, and I am sorry that I miss it but I now enjoy a glass of dry red which is quite a contrast. While I was on the program I had three meals / drinks at different times and didn't lose any weight for each of those three weeks, so believe me one latte will literally 'cost' you a week more on the program. Is it worth it? That's another whole week of weighing, measuring and no lattes.

Looking back, those meals were my choice, drinking the sherry was my choice, but if I was doing the program now I would know the cost of those meals and drinks.

So look at the lattes, smell the lattes, maybe even lick the spoon, but drink it - even a spoonful -and it will cost you another week.

On that cheerful note, hope you have all had a great week and everybody seems to be in high spirits which is good to see. Some people have now lost the equivalent of a primary school aged child, which is quite incredible in anyone's reckoning, but you are all going strong and simply, keeping on going.

This program is amazing. Seven months now for me and less than a one kilo pendulum swing.

Start, continue, and finish.

You can do it!

Cheers

Kristine
