Question about bloodwork????

Hi,

I was reading on another post that someone received their 4 week bloodwork back from Cohen's w/a long checklist of items stating that this person was deviating from the plan. This person was upset because she stated that she had not deviated and I was wondering if anyone else received the same type of email, or for those of you w/access to clinics, were spoken to regarding your bloodwork results by your consultant. I'm just nervous because I am about to go for my 4 week bloodwork and I don't want to receive that checklist since I have not deviated at all from this diet. I think it will just be a big blow if I know I've been so strict only to receive a checklist stating that I deviated when I know that I haven't.

Any advice for a newbie??? Anyone else receive this when they too had never deviated?

Thank you in advance!!!!

Hey kathy

In regards to the bloodwork, i am in my 14th week of cohens and ive never had a 'bloodwork' list or anything like that sent to me. Ive had blood taken three times on cohens and my consultant has never emailed me or discussed with me the contents of the results so i am unsure as to why others have this.

I havent deviated at all on the program so im guessing maybe its because she had nothing to say about it thats why i dont get emailed??

So if youve been a good little cohens girl im sure theres nothing to worry about , if you do have some questions maybe ring up your consultant and see what she/he says in regards to this??

but other than that, you should be right!

good luck!

Hello
I have deviated many times, naughty me I know, and occasionally when i ring the clinic to have a winge about something she'll mention my bloodwork came back with a D meaning deviation... if you have your crackers too close togeather thats a deviation, they never go on about it,,, so don't stress, you know within yourself if you have devaited or not....
I have never once received an email checklist though.

Thank you both for your replies. I guess the littlest thing could throw the bloodwork off. I apologize as I should have mentioned that I am in the United States so our support is only via email. We have our blood drawn at a lab and receive the results via email that the folks at Cohen's get. Of course, I have no idea what any of it means, it just shows the different things tested and if I am in range or out of it. I'll be able to compare I guess to see if my numbers change after 4 weeks on this diet.

Thanks again!!

Hi, I just found this thread.......I know time has passed since the 1st question was raised, but maybe I can shed some light on this. I had a medical friend explain why the blood tests were needed etc.and this is what he said (summarised)
pre-diet test - what your kidney function is like (urea in blood), and other body hormones. (Insulin , thyroid etc)
Follow up tests - are your kidneys coping with the body being in ketosis....that is burning fat++ and excreting ketones in the urine. They set a level they "want" to see...............if it isn't achieved you are marked "irregular".

Tests can fluctuate above or below what is expected for all sorts of reasons. My pre-diet test was marked as irregular, and pretty much every test, right through the diet!! It was never through cheating..... my Cohens counsellor said HEAPS of people had tests that came back as "irregular", but were safe to keep dieting, and still losing weight really well...........My medical friend got me to ask for copies of 3 of my tests, and said all the readings were within normal limits.

The clinic I went to closed down before I got to re-feed, but they sent me my refeed programme in the mail.......WITHOUT A BLOOD TEST. So I guess the question here is.......are the tests REALLY needed, or was it just a waste of time for me, because all of mine were irregular? There is no doubt though that the programme worked, and I lost weight very quickly.

Hope thats helped a little.
