Well I'm on day 16 and I've been BAD!!! Went to lunch with hubby and had a seafood basket. Ate the salad and seafood and had a couple of chips. I've been feeling bad all afternoon... I don't intend on doing that again... I guess one setback is not the end of the world but it still doesn't make me feel any better..

One thing with this diet it's so antisocial!!! I've got people coming to visit tomorrow so will have to be extra careful with the food. I didn't realise how my life can be so much about food until I started this diet.. I know where I'm going wrong but I guess it takes will power, determination and believing in yourself to make this work and lots of patience. Got to stop thinking I can lose weight in two weeks... Anybody else going through the same struggles/??

Hi Tania

8 kilos in two weeks is a fantastic result..well done.
I know you want to hurry this up but can I just say that every deviation you have will just set you back... you probably know this so just put the one setback behind you and try not to make it into two setbacks or three....

My life has always been about food and I can relate to what you're saying, but the way I see it now is food is always gonna be there, I have a lifetime to eat all the foods I am craving or missing....all I have to do is sacrifice them just for a few months and then I can have them (in moderation of course) and maybe by the time I achieve my goal weight and are looking/feeling so much better I probably won't want to eat them. Anyway my point is food is everywhere and still will be when I finish cohens. I just concentrate on cohen food at the moment.

Hi Tania,
I have to eat out and travel alot for work. Cooking my own food when I'm away is generally not an option, so I have had to work around that on the program. So, for me there is no issue of COhen's being antisocial!
But it certainly slows my weight loss down. Particularly when I'm travelling.

My strategy, most of the time, is to eat simply for breakfast - either egg with mushrooms or yoghurt with fruit.
I always take a packet of Vitaweat with me when I'm travelling, even overseas. They travel well and don't get smashed up, like Saladas do (learned that one the hard way!)
Lunch and dinner I generally choose a fairly plain option, like chicken or steak with salad. If you order vegetables, you are likely to get carrots and peas, so I generally stick with salad. But I also figure wrong vegetables are better than a plate of fries!
I try to inform people ahead of time so that they can plan a meal for me. I don't worry so much about the weights of the food.
For asian food, a stirfry will often be OK. I try to stick to plain types, like prawn and veges, rather than satays or creamy dishes.
Having said that on my recent trip to Beijing, it was impossible to get anything like this, and I just did the best I could, and lost the weight on my return.
I don't drink any alcohol, because that will just stack the weight on. I stick to water and sparkling water. I don't like soft drinks.
Try to substitute fruit for dessert.
You need a plan, because otherwise the food options will become overwhelming and you will end up choosing all the wrong options. So, think about a strategy for the whole trip as well as for each meal.
Flying will add 1-2 kgs in fluid retention, but if you do put on weight while you are gone, you will probably lose it fairly quickly on your return. ALthough once you've tasted all those yummy things, it makes it more difficult to get back on track and stick to it.
Good luck!
HL

Thanks for the advise HL. I will take you advise on board when I'm over there. I guess I'll just have to be really focused when I come back. I'm feeling so much better already so I really don't want to stuff this up. I;m having my 4 week weigh in a few days before I go so I'm sure that will keep me very motivated. I wish I'd found this forum years ago I probably would have done something about this years ago!!!

Day 2 Also!

Hi!

I am also on day 2 and really struggling... i wish i now started this after easter... I was a bit naughty and jumped on the scales this morning and already lost 2 kilo's... not bad! I am not sure what i am going to do over easter as we are having family do's on and with an Italian family there is going to be nice food everywhere.

This is a very anti social diet and its not until you start doing the diet that you realise how much your life revolves around food and alcohol.

I am really going to struggle this weekend... do you think if i was naughty abit the weight would come straight back on? Silly question!

I just have to focus... 15 kilo's to go!

Hi ToBeMe. Your in a situation aren't you? The question you need to ask yourself is "WHY do i want to lose weight" and "AM I ready to lose weight". Only you can answer the above questions. You know the answer to the first question, so it doesn't matter what i say there, BUT if you answer NO or MAYBE to the second question, then my easy response is "YES you will deviate from the plan and thouroughly enjoy your easter.

2kg in 2 days is fantastic, however just one tiny Easter Egg could set your weightloss back a week, which, realistically, puts you right back where you started. You are 2 days in on your journey. Stopping now and starting from scratch on Tuesday really won't matter much at this stage, but you probably will put that 2kg back on, but as i said, you'll just start from scratch again.

In the end the decision is up to you, and really you would have known 2 days ago what was in store for Easter and if it was me, I wouldn't have even started. This plan is a social killer, but the way to look at it is that it's taken some time to put this excess weight on, and on the program, it will disappear fast, so surely a few months out of your social life isn't going to kill you.

I've been on the program 4.5 weeks now. I love it. I enjoy my meals, I'm happy and i've lost nearly 10kg. I still have a long way to go, but i'm committed to losing weight. That's all there is to it. Easter isn't going to bother me. I'm doing this for me and I can sit back and watch everyone else stuffing their faces knowing that i'm not ever going to be like that again. That's my choice.

I've spent all afternoon making delicious easter treats, brownies, caramel slices etc for my family. I haven't even been tempted to have the tiniest lick because i know that will set my weightloss back a week, and that's not something i'm prepared to do.

Good luck with your decision, and if you decide to stick with it, then make that committment with yourself to not be tempted. It's hard in the early stages, but you can do it!!!!!

Tania, You and I have about the same weight to lose. I started just over 10 weeks ago. I waited to start until it best suited me & ate whatever I felt like in the last week before I started. I thought I would try to get it out of my system(mentally). I have decided that I just cannot deviate at all or I will never get there. Try to focus if you can on the reason why you want to do this. I am doing it for my own self esteem. If I fail I am failing only me and I just don't want to do that.
I hope that you can get back on track. Every week that goes by, every time you look in the mirror and see yourself shrinking it will help you focus on your goal. You can do it I'm sure, cheers, Cate.

Hi tobeme

When I decided to do Cohen's it was at xmas and I was going to start after xmas, but I ended up gorging myself thinking I have to have that last supper before I start.........well that was alot of last suppers, so I actually commenced Cohen's 2 weeks prior and the nice surprise was that I was even fitting into some of my smaller clothes after 2 weeks on Cohen's.

So basically all I am saying is that it really is up to you, easter and xmas will always be here....... or you can do what I did when I received all those choccie gifts at xmas, I saved the really special ones for after I completed Cohen's.

The other thing is a slight deviation even missing a Cohen's meal can affect your weight loss..... so think about the consquences OR have the treat and be on the programme longer (no one can tell you what to do.)

Take care
Sam

Hi All,

Well I had my four week check up last Thursday and according to the Cohens scales I have lost 7 kg which means on her scale I am 88kg. I haven't been in the 80's for years!!! Can't wait to hit the 70's. Not bad but it was that time of the month so I guess fluid had a bit to do with it. The great thing is that I have lost 21.5cm all round. 5 cm of the thighs (that's just one thigh!), 5 cm off the waist, 4.5 off the hips, and a couple off the arms and bust. I can't believe how good that is. I had to go and buy some new work pants as the old ones looked like I had wheat bags on. Size 16 is definately a new beginning. I just can't imagine myself at a size 12!!!

I've been really good since hubby went back to the mines. That is always going to be a problem when he is home. Next Saturday we go to Bali for the week and I've decided I'm going to enjoy myself and just eat sensibly and focus 100% when I get back. I know this works so I'm not going to stop now.

I had the best meal last night. I had prawns which I cooked up in the frypan with chilli, garlic and pepper. They were absolutely beautiful, so I'm going to treat myself at least twice a week.

My Holiday

Got back last Sunday and had a lovely romantic week with my wonderful husband. Didn't do too bad food wise as ate normally but walked heaps so I think I actually gained some muscle in the old legs!!! Didn't drink too much either except for one night where I ended up with my head around the toilet bowl so won't do that again!!! Back on track now and feeling wonderful. It was very hard the first day as I was craving so much but now feel good.

I've decided to not stress so much about this diet as otherwise I can't sleep. I've unfortunately work in real estate which takes up lots of hours and next week we are being taken out for breakfast which I can't say no to as it's our meeting also. God knows what I'm going to have but I've figured if I have to deviate I will walk off the meal in the afternoon. I can't exercise on this diet as I'll pass out (tried to do too much in a day and felt lightheaded) so If I have a substantial meal I'll burn it off. Sometimes you just have to make the most of a situation. What does everyone else think. And no, I'm not going to sit and watch everyone have breakfast that would just be too much to bare. Also, when it's free......lol

Ok I'm just waffling now... better go...

Hi Tania, glad you had a great trip! Must've been so relaxing to get away from it all.

As for the breakfast, if it were me, I would sit around watching everyone else eat. Even though the breakfast is free, what will it really cost you? It could very well set your diet back a week. Is it worth it? How many weeks are you willing to give up over deviations? Instead of deviating, eat some crackers and allowed fruit... Free meals will always be there!

Whatever you decide, good luck. Congrats on your loss so far.
