Hi there everyone.. I have just started the Cohens diet and am coping quite well. I've never been a breakfast eater so I am struggling with breakfast and find that I get very hungry in the afternoons. Otherwise things going well. I have found that I am constantly hot like my internal body heat clock has gone up 10 degrees is that normal? Anyways can someone tell me how to get that great graph on the bottom of your posts showing how much weight you have lost?? I'm currently 96kg and am aiming for 64kg which I was at 20 when I got married 16 years ago. After reading some of your posts I know I can do it.

If you click on someones ticker it should take u to the web page then u just follow the prompts then u cut an paste it into (edit signature) which u will find under the heading User CP. If u have any trouble with it let me know and I will try to help u!!

P.s If you go to Welcome to the Cohens Forum post on the last page Melly P has given step by step instructions on how to do the ticker so maybe if you follow that you will succeed.

Hi Tania. Congratulations on taking that step to a healthier and skinnier you!!!!. I was never much of a breaky eater, and i've found that if i have my yoghurt or omlette for breakfast, i'll just drink water till lunch, and then 2 1/2 hours after lunch i'll have a piece of fruit and one cracker. This holds me out till dinner and i'll have another 2 crackers after dinner and then my last bit of fruit for dessert. You could be doing that anyway.
With your ticker, the link you hav in your signature is just the generic one taken from the webpage address. It doesn't go anywhere except to the ticker website, not your ticker. Once you have made your ticker, you will see a heap of 'codes' for posting to get your ticker to show up. Highlight the first one (all of it) - which is BB Code - click copy, and then open up your user profile to edit your signature and then paste the BB Code into it. Click on Preview Signature and you should be able to see it. If you're happy with it, click Save Signature.....hope that helps.
Thanks for the great advise. I was very naughty and weighed myself yesterday and I've already lost 3.6kg in 4 days!!! Is that normal. Mind you it's that time of the month so it could be fluid loss too I guess. Anyway I feel wonderful and can feel I'm losing weight the only gripe I have is I'm already sick of salad and vegies. I've never eaten so much vegetables in my life!!!
I'm day 9 on the program and still haven't deviated. With regards to the veges, i put them in to the food processor with my chicken and make chicken and vege patties. To change to flavour i just add different herbs or spices. eg one day i will have tomato and basil, another day i put coriander and onion etc. you honestly don't notice the veges.
I never thought of that.. I'll have to get a food processor. I don't like too many of the vegies so processing them will help. You're doing all right too I see? I woke up this morning and felt blah! for the first time. I had to put down my dog yesterday she was 17 years old a grand old dame at that!! It was the most distressing thing I've ever had to do so I guess a day on the couch crying makes you feel shit anyway...
This is the best way to stay motivated though reading about everyones adventures. I've also got a trip to Bali in 5 weeks which I'm stressing over. Has anybody else encountered a holiday in between the program and how did you cope with it (eating wise I mean). It's more the alcohol I'm worried about I'm not going to Bali and not drink waste of money then...lol
On my third week on Cohens I went up to the Gold Coast for a week. I took my scales with me and stuck to it 100%. It did make it easy staying in an apartment with a kitchen. The only two nights I dined out I had steak and salad, the restaurants were both willing to measure the steak for me (so all you have to do is ask). I had sparkling water with my meals.
I guess if I was staying in a hotel room then it would have been a lot harder but most hotel rooms have a bar fridge so if your room does not have a kitchen it might be worthwhile stocking up on crackers, cheese and salad etc and only eat out for 1-2 meals a day as close to cohens meals as possible.

I'm sorry about your dog too. I'm a dog lover and have had to put down one of the family dogs before and i know how much it hurts.
About the bali trip. Wouldn't it be a waste of the money that you paid for the cohen program if you drank all those empty kgs? Just a thought. You can still have and great time and stick to the program. how good will you feel when you get home from a great holiday and you have lost weight. The alternative is not that great is it?
Anyway you will do what you feel is right for you, and i hope you have a great time.
I went to Fiji in Feb this year for a week. I was also lucky that where I stayed had a stove, etc. I managed to eat crackers, asparagus and a poached egg on top for breakfast every day. Then lunch was either eating out or tuna and salad. Dinner was always eating out.
I decided before I left that I was going to have a good time as I had planned the holiday a long time ago.
I also made up my mind that I was going to go back to Cohen's 100% after as I had not deviated before I went on the holiday. I think it depends on how strong willed you are. If you can go back 100% after then have a good time but don't blow it totally. If you can't then you should try to stick as closely as you can to Cohens.
You will find that there are plenty of things you can have that are very similar. Here are some examples for you.
Breakfast - Either small omlette or yoghurt and fruit
Lunch - Fish/Steak/Chicken and salad
Dinner - Fish/Steak/Chicken and either salad or vegies.
Don't be too worried about a couple of things you can't have (eg red capsicum, beans, etc) if you eat them in moderation you will find that you don't put on too much. Also I made sure I stayed away from the bread totally. I did have a bit of rice but that was all. You will probably find that you can buy crispbreads over there and maybe take them with you when you eat to stop you eating bread.
All in all have a good time and don't stress too much over it. Keep thinking thin.
Thanks everyone for you lovely condolensces about the dog and the great advise regarding my Bali trip. I hit two weeks yesterday and am so proud of myself. I am not a very patient person so I broke one rule on weighing myself. I am becoming obsessed with that. In two weeks I've lost about 8 kg mind you my scales say I started at 99kg where my cohens instructors scales said I weighed 95kg. I;m sticking the the heavier scales as I have a cupboard full of 'skinnier' clothes that I'm nearly into so I reckon I'm still at the 91kg mark.
I went through all the before and after posts and tears were just flowing as it has given me the boost I needed to keep going. I find sticking to pretty much the same thing everyday has helped as I don't see to be obsessing so much about food and find I look forward to each meal so I feel satisfied. I find the most difficult time around 8.30pm each night that is when I get the most cravings. I just feel so much better already and feel so much more energenic. I was worried that I had something very wrong with me for a while but now I know that all that excessive weight I have been carrying around is the main cause of all my problems. I can't use being pregnant as an excuse which for many years I blamed on having big kids as they are nearly 12 and 14 so I know I can do this.
This is the best forum I have ever read and when I feel down I sit down for an hour and read as many posts as I can (with a box of tissues) and it makes me just want to go on. I have decided I am going to enjoy my trip to Bali and try to eat sensibly and drink in moderation and not worry to much and come back with a real focus. Thanks to all of you for just listening and will put some before and after shots in too at my four week mark to keep me motivated.
