Kath, well done, you're such an inspiration. We started 2 days apart and you've lost HEAPS of weight, I'm sssooo envious Congrats.
I completely agree that social events (and restaurants) are hard but good on you for being strong.

PS I just love reading your diary. Thanks for sharing.

Stef

Hi All! Well... That's another day done! Just another.... 168 days to go.. hahaha... thats if I stick to about 6 months! hehehe... one can only hope right! All is generally going well for me.

I suffer from an unusual form of epilepsy which means that I get headaches and migraines pretty regularly and sometimes they last for days if not weeks at a time. Last year my doctor and I finally found a great medication which has been SUPER DUPER and I have been able to wake up every day not expecting to have a headache or worse. Although around this time of year my sinuses really start to play up and I get lots of headaches which has been happening and has reminding me of what it used to be like. The point of all this is that I take a daily medication plus the last few weeks I have been taking more painkillers. I have wondered whether they might be slowing down my weight loss... but too bad if they are... I will not go back to the way I was before my medication. I found out that Ibuprofen has lactose in it... which is a shame because Panadol doesnt generally work for me... but I guess its better than nothing. Thankfully though I didnt have to take any today... which was really good.

Stef: Thanks so much for reading my diary! It cracks me up that someone would actually WANT to read my ramblings!!! hahaha! I look forward to following yours! Keep up the good beginnings!

Lukey: 4kgs! AWESOME!! I know what you mean about not being able to wait til the weigh in time. I dont actually have a weigh in at the clinic because I am 4 hours north of Perth... so I guess I am supposed to just do it at home... and they wont be up here till September. I might pop in and see them in July...when I am visiting. Well done for being strong at the movies! That's awesome! It really is sooo easy when you plan ahead. I had a meeting in a coffee shop today that I have every 2 weeks and I just took my apple and asked for water and it was all fine. Hey... I was wondering... what about using some gloves to pull apart chicken and prawns? is it the slimy feeling? u can usually buy a box of gloves at supermarkets and stuff that might help with stuff like that!

Cate: Thanks SO MUCH for your encouragement! It has been a pleasure reading your diary. I know that you will be finished soon and off on new adventures but I hope that you will be able to pop in from time to time to inspire us Newbies!

Ok.. Gotta go... bless ya
Kath

I just came on quickly to vent! I have done my weekly weigh and I have only lost 1.3kgs in my 2nd week... and yet I have "fixed" all the mini mistakes I was making... wrong fish, vitawheets etc.I KNOW that if I hadnt weighed myself I wouldnt have known this and wouldnt be upset about it...but still 1.3kgs!!! I am still a bit bummed about it!

On the plus side... clothes are a lot looser and I have lost about 31cm from around the place! Anyway... I know these are the bad points about weighing myself regurlarly because I might be affected, but I do like being able to see the minor changes as the occur and trying to be on top of things. Please dont tell me off for weighing regularly.... I know its not useful... but for right I find it overall useful even for days like today. I can be aware of the things that are happening in my body and what I might need to change. I am also expecting to be told off by my consultant today, as I told them that I had only lost a small amount. I can only handle a telling off from one source!

Anyway...Enough of that I need to go have brekky! Will let you know how it goes with my consultant! Bless ya
Kath

Hiya kath,
I think you are being a bit hard on yourself...1.3kg's in a week is fantastic..the best I have ever done in a week (apart from 1st week) is 1.5, I have been averaging 1 kilo a week. I am a daily weigher so I know where you are coming from with the regular weighing.
Do you drink alot of water? I find the more I drink the better I do..maybe up your water for this week and see if that makes a difference.

You have made a great start Kath, keep it up!

Annie Lusion

*SNAP*
I lost 1.2kgs my 2nd week and was so bummed. But add up your potential...1.3kg x 4 weeks and thats over 5kgs and that's excellent. Remember they tell us that people loose differently and maybe you and I lose weight slower. Doesn't mean we won't though.
As for weighing - each to their own, some daily, some weekly and some monthly, no-one (imo) is wrong or right.
You're doing a fantastic job and drinks lots (and lots and lots and then some more) water.

Stef

Hello fellow Cohen's member,
My name is Brendac and I have been on the programme since March 20th, have lost heaps in inches and 7kgs. I must admit I miss the glass of wine every evening and as my husband and I socialise a lot Im finding it difficult when we go out.
I do still get hungry but everyone comments on how much weight I have lost and it encourages me to keep at it. It is hard not being able to get in to talk to the councellors, but having this forum(when I understand how to use it correctly) will help keep me on track.

Well done Kath!!! 1.3kg is great. Just think that is over a bag of sugar...well thats the way I think about it. 30 odd cm's is fantastic, clothes are the best way to tell when the fat is coming off.

I'm the same as you, when I meet people for coffee I just have water, or the odd Diet Coke. My big test tomorrow is when a bunch of us girls from work are catching up and it will be for a few drinks....I will just have to have Diet Coke. My boss knows that I am on a new eating program and she has been very supportive. I'm lucky that not many people in my office bring in take away etc for lunch, most are fairly healthy. I have moved the charity chocolates to the other side of the office as they are a temptation to me.

Don't be so down on yourself for weighing yourself so often...we all have our way to deal with losing weight and keeping up the momentium.

Skinny thoughts to all....time to drink more water....man its a struggle to drink at least 3 litres.

Toni

Kath- No-one in here will tell you off. We are here to support one another not criticise. You are doing really well & I'm sure you will succeed. The program is strict but well worth it. Annie's right about the water. I think it's a key factor. Don't over-do like I did & ended up being advised by my consultant to cut down & drink no more than 3 litres a day. I was leaching the vitamins & minerals from my body. Good night Kath & thanks for sharing your thoughts with us all, xo Cate. (76 kg today- Woo Hoo!)

Hi All!

Well I spoke with one of my consultants today... finally. I found out that I am not allowed to use Splenda... its a good thing that I have only had it once. I also found out that the Ibuprofen etc could be having an impact on my weightloss as my metabolism might be on the slow side, especially as I have had to take it nearly every day for the last couple of weeks! LUCKY ME. So I will endeavour to use panadol wherever possible, unless I need something stronger. I didnt get told off for weighing more often just encouraged to wait. Thanks so much everyone for not having a go at me. I just get stressed that when I say stuff people will have a go at me...which some do... which is why you learn not to talk to those people... but also then my problem with anxiety comes to the fore and causes me grief. I really have appreciated everyone's encouragement and support. He reckons I should be including the 3.5kgs I lost the week before I started, because I had actually started I just had deviations in the form of quantities (plus I had pav one night etc that week).... but I like the idea of starting with NO deviations. I dunno I will think about it.

I read CATE'S journal today (Thanks again Cate for all your inspiring words and support. It would be quite sad if people like you and all the other wonderful Cohenites didn't contribute to our diaries. We would feel all alone.) and it was very inspiring and useful seeing that her average loss was about 5 kgs a month. Although it would take me longer than the 6 months they have said, I would still get there in the end and it is consistent... not a bit here and a bit there. I also talked to my consultant about that... the fact that I might not be finished in 6 months and he said as long as I am getting my blood tests done and everything seems to be ok... they will keep supporting me. They had a lady that had like 80(?)kgs to lose and she was only losing 4 kgs a month and they kept on with her past the 6 months (he didn't say how long). So STEF, we may be slow but we will get there in the end!!!! ANNIE you're right .... 1.3 is really nothing to turn my nose up at! I will be positive and keep the end in sight... and each little goal in sight..... 99.9 here I come (109.8 today... only 9.9kgs to go).

I think I am doing ok on the water front. I have a 2L bottle on my desk at work that I always fill up at the beginning of the day and make sure its finished before I leave. I also drink about 500mls before work and another 5 after... so... hopefully I am doing ok. Now that I know about the Ibuprofen I am hoping that will help and the Splenda.

I have 10 more work days till I go on HOLIDAYS! I am sooo stoked about going away. Still a little nervous about it food wise... but I think I will be ok. Even if I buy some Nat yog and just mix coffee and sweetener through it for brekky I think will be fine each day. I will have 4 days on my own during the day where my friends will be at work... so that will be ok... but i will have 6 days of lots of social outings and things. I am sure it will be fine... I just get anxious and PLAN everything... which usually helps! hahaha

I tried on a whole bunch of shirts today that I have not been able to fit into for ages. THEY ALL FIT! it was really cool. I had bought this Marvin the Martian shirt at Movieworld in March 06... the biggest one? and then it didnt fit properly... so it got put away. Put it on this morning and it looked COOL! hahah I also tried on a couple of work shirts I had put away cos they were too tight and they fit too. I also have some 3/4 pants that have been sitting in the closet waiting... but by the time its warm enough to wear them I will be too small HOPEFULLY! Maybe I should wear them anyway and brave the cold.. I HATE THE COLD... and I am going to Adelaide! The things we do for friends!! I dont think I could live in Tassie Cate!

There are so many people that stopped by! Thanks heaps! Welcome to the Forum BRENDAC! Keep focused and try not to deviate and you will be at your goal in no time. Have you thought about keeping a journal yourself so you can keep track of your progress? I know its really working for me! Same to you TONI.... I would love to read your journal.... are you planning to start keeping one? How did your day out with friends go?
Thanks BEE for your support! Have you been able to get your Puter fixed yet? I couldn't handle having mine out of action for too long... I use it all the time!

Ok.... gotta go and get dinner! Fish tonight... nothing fancy... just pan fried with vegies

see ya soon
Kath

Hi Kath, sounds like you got a few things sorted with your consultant today. I am looking forward to having mine - one on one will be nice. I will start my own journal, probably on the weekend when I have time to gather my thoughts. I think its great idea, and also it will be good to have some thing to refer to when I am having a bad day.

I didn't have my girls catch up today, was postponed...thankfully. My boss knows I am on my diet and she has commented that she can see that my face is thinner (thats where I have put my weight on recently ..and my tummy).

Congrats on fitting into your old shirts, thats always very rewarding. I am thinking about ordering my fav jeans in two sizes smaller for my b'day next month. The jeans I am wearing now are getting lose, so I think that I should be down two sizes but end of July....well here's hoping.

Well I am buggered and I need to organise my lunch...Ive just finished my body corporate meeting...damn thing and it was at my house tonight. Luckily the guys made sure we finished early as they wanted to watch the footy.

Hope you all have had a great day

Toni

Kannadew is a splendid one to behold
Hellloooo to All!

I lost 200gs last night and then 100g the night before...which has been very encouraging. Maybe.... I will do more than 1.3 this week... I am already at 109.5 which is 800g... so even if I only get the 1.3 it will put me at 108.9! Awesome! Maybe I will be at 105 by the time I go on Holidays! That would be pretty cool. Everything from here on is the lowest I have been in at least 10 years.

I have spent the last few days reading Asy's & LessFatty's diaries over at www.Newyouforum.com (dammit.. been trying for 1/2 hour to link their diaries so you could just click... but couldnt get it to work!). I have been so inspired by both of the them. I think that Asy has done a Bloody remarkable amazing earth shattering job and I thought I had a LONG way to go.... I am so impressed! Really inspired!

Nothing much has been happening for me. I booked 3 nights in a self catering hotel in Perth last night... which means I wont have to stay with friends all the time. I usually stay with the same couple when I go to Perth, (which is all of 3 or 4 times a year) but they seem to be really stressed and full-on busy at the moment and expecting their first baby so I figured I would give them a break and that way I am also completely in control of my food too. It also means a little bit of luxury... even though it's only 3.5 stars!

I feel like I am finally working out all the "kinks" in the program... you know the wrong things bought without realising it... the wrong sweetner, vitawheets, fish etc. Ibuprofen as well. I now have had 2 days without anything wrong as far as I CAN TELL! hahaha. I have also increased my water intake to a minimum of 3 litres a day instead of a min of 2.5... I always drink more but if I make sure I have my min of 3l at work then I am set for the rest of the day.

I went out and bought some new jeans and some track pants last night. I bought them off the rack without trying them on. They were both...normal size 18's ... not "option plus". The track pants fitted.... yaay..knew they would as I was already an 18 in a couple of things... but the jeans.. went up all the way to my hips and stopped... couldnt get em over my hips/stomach at all! hahah only a few weeks I reckon though. Maybe by the end of July at the max... but then they will be baggy on my legs. All my current jeans are getting really baggy on my legs but are only just starting to get loose on the stomach.

I bought a "hand blender" yesterday too. Cos I was getting annoyed with cleaning my blender and food processor all the time for small things. Its very nice. A Breville Wizz Stainless Plus.... It looks so cool and has a cool whisk attachment and mini chopper/blender.

Ok... Hope everyone is doing well despite the up's and down's in forum at the moment! Just keep thinking positive and remember it's not your issue what other people think!

Bless ya
Kath

I also buy the green prawns already shelled etc. It makes it easier to weigh them out, and means that you can weigh before they are cooked...
I stir fry them with garlic, ginger and coriander powder and then add my veges to the frypan and stir fry them in as well. Or do the first step and then add to a salad for lunch.
YUM!

Hi Kath,

Not sure what other's have experienced but I've noticed the weight loss mostly around my lengths, which is great....get rid of those "thunder-thighs"

How exciting is being on the program, when you can buy clothes and know, for sure, that soon those jean will fit!! Not a maybe or wouldn't it be nice BUT they will fit soon. So cool.

Top Stuff!
