Big welcome to Mel! Thats excellent weightloss for 3weeks! My consultant tells me that there are some weeks that are slower which is why they only weigh once a month (but who can wait THAT long?) and to keep checking your measurements instead. Dont be discouraged, just keep perservering and results will be yours!
My first day went well. My main lesson from yesterday was how a late brekky puts your whole day out. I like a big sleep in on my weekend and because I got up late, mooched around for a bit then finally had brekky at 11am, my meals were at ridiculous times. I had forgotten completely about the 5hr gap. So even if I had wanted to have a chicken salad last night while out with my best friend, I couldnt. He was very understanding though. I havent really told him much about what I'm doing except that there was a blood test and the eating plan is to bring hormones into balance. And that its very strict but only for a short time, so I'm sticking to it so that I dont have to drag it out any longer than necessary. So yes, Joysey it was topic of conversation, but not for long. I'm a little surprised at how secretive I'm being...
Thanks also for the advice on scales. I did already race out and buy some. I think I got a good deal though. But I will also be looking for a set of travel size so I will check out ebay.
It was also really great to get some different meal ideas and to see someone else's plan and just how it differs. I have to admit when I first joined I had a few skeptical thoughts and one of them was its probably the same plan for everyone and thats why they say dont show it anyone else. So it was reassuring to see that while it is basically the same foods and combinations the quantities are different.
Moni My consultant said she didnt like the yoghurt either, but used to add a little diet lemonade to sweeten it, but not enough to make it fizzy (yuck!) and she added fruit too. I havent tried this yet, but thought if you hadnt tried it it's a possible brekky idea. Also what about cottage cheese at brekky? Cottage sheese goes very well with celery, mushrooms, tomato, asparagus and capsicum. I'm planning on having the vegies warm with the cottage cheese on top. So far I keep going the egg option as its the one I get the most vegies with
Di Its great to hear that the chemo is working for you son in law. Dont be too tough on yourself for straying from the diet, just remember each day is a new day and an opportunity to do things right.
Thanks so much for all your support and advice with my first days. It is really appreciated.
Hi everyone
well I went to a friends place for dinner last night and didn't take my food with me like usually do, I even had a glass of wine! Well I put on a kilo but I think it would have been worse but I drank about 3 litres of water while I was there plus the 3 or 4 I had through out the day so I believe the water does help
I read that some people don't like the yoghurt, I buy the Vaalia low fat natural and it is YUMMY!! you would not believe it was natural yoghurt! it is so creamy.
Most of my vege meals (even salads) I sprinkle curry powder for some taste. I haven't really any hints as I am a boring eater except for the curry powder it may help someone else ???
Any way keep up the good work everyone - we are all doing great
Carolyn
Nat - Congrats on your first day. I found it easier not to go out for the first week or so that you got into a habit of your food. that was just me...
I hate the 5 hour gap too because im soooooooo busy in the mornings, if I forget to eat breakfast before I go to work then Im stuffed for the rest of the day.
I hate the yoghurt but Im worried cause Im not eating much dairy and my calcuim might bet lacking....
I love my garlic powder. I seem to add that to everything and I tend to eat more salad then vegies as I feel you get more.
Di- remember, every meal that you don't break is a good meal.. Think about it that way. Glad to hear that they caught the cancer in time. My thoughts are with you.
In regards to doing well. This last 2 weeks have been a total blow out for me so starting tomorrow I am going to get back on track..
I am hopefully meeting up with some of you on Sunday and I am bringing my scales so that everytime we meet, I am going to be accountable to you.
Hi Everyone,
Not too much to report from my end but I thought I would drop in and say hi anyway.
I have had a bit of of a tummy bug the last couple of days and haven't really felt like eating. I did see a weight gain of 1 kilo, 0.5 of which has lost now that I am back on track.
I am still struggling with my meal option 3. I have tried to get fresh spinach all week so I could make some soup - but it seems there isn't a fresh bunch in the whole of Geelong! Now that I've discovered the horrible truth about the sweet chilli mayo - I can't be bothered having it for dinner! This means I am again struggling with the amounts - any tips on chicken would be appreciated.
As usual, my weight loss is plodding along, but I am liking what I am seeing in the mirror these days and am looking forward to a few chrissy functions that are coming up.
I still miss vegemite.
Good to hear everyone is going well - keep up the fantastic work.
bring on garlic prawns!! I'm allowed 120g of them with my lunch meal, which is about 25 prawns, cook them up with some onion, spinach and flavour with garlic, lemon juice, salt & black pepper. Has anyone else tried this?

Myshy: on the chicken, I have baked mango chicken with salad or vegy's ( cabbage zuckini and mushrooms) Pocket the chicken and put some mango inside it and the remander on top wrap in foil and cook in the oven for 15mins and open the foil and lightly brown. Just melt"s in your mouth.
Mango fish is nice too. done the same way.
Or curried chicken Brown chicken in pan with ounion and 1/4 teaspoon of curry powder splash of water, soften your vegy allowance in micro and att to the chicken, add your mayo allowance to this also gives it a creamy look.
Both of these I have all the time because I love them.
Mel: I love garlic prawns too but I also love curried prawns. very nice.
Hope evreyone is well . will talk to you all again soon.
I'm feeling a little nervous as I have got my 6 week weigh-in tomorrow. I haven't been naughty, but I'm still scared! Does anyone else feel like this? I also have four dinners coming up in the next two weeks and am worried at how they will affect my weight loss. I think I'll listen to everyone else's advice and drink plenty of water.
For some meal ideas, I tend to make things which are really quick and simple as I don't have a lot of time to play around with my food. My favourites for each meal are:
Meal 1 - 1 egg+60g veg (my allowance). I whisk the egg, add salt, pepper, dill (or any other herbs I have around) and either use grated zucchini or if I don't have anything fresh, I always have a tin of asparagus cuts and tips or sliced mushrooms in water handy. So I just use them, whisk it with the egg then cook them in three egg rings in a non-stick pan. They are yum, and just like little omlettes.
Meal 2 - Cottage cheese (70g) and 120g veg (my allowance) - I cut up cucumber and mix it with the cottage cheese and add my mayonnaise allowance plus some chives, salt and pepper. Then eat this with my biscuits. It is yummy also, I think I'll keep using this as a dip/sandwich filler even when I eventually eat normally again.
Meal 3 - My fav is like Moni's suggestion. I use my chicken allowance and cut the chicken up fine then cook in a little bit of white wine vinegar. I use only cauliflower for my veggie allowance and steam it. Then mash the cauliflower with mayonnaise allowance, add pepper and curry powder. Then I mix in the cooked chicken and it is just like chicken curry. I love it!
Other than that, I usually just buy bags of pre-washed lettuce and use that as my veggie allowance and add either cooked chicken, fish, prawns, or tinned tuna if I'm feeling really lazy. Not very exciting, but it's easy and it's allowed.
Question... what type of loss can be expected for 6 weeks? Does it all slow down a lot now?
Hello to everyone we are all doing so well and before long we'll all be shopping for nice clothes. I decided to get real with my program seen as though ive been stuffing around all year on it so this weekend i give it my all and this is day 3 starting weight 95.8kg now 93.8kg probably alot of fluid gone but im drinking 4.5 litres of water a day which i believe is doing something. I was talking to my friend in Perth who lost 30kg didnt cheat once on her program a total of 14 weeks thats awesome cos two weeks of that was the refeed and she has easily maintained it infact when i was talking to her the other night at 11pm she was eating chocolate coated bullets lucky her. Im not going to dwell on things but I did get down to 78kg this year only to give in a go off the program it shows you how all the hard work goes out the window if you dont finish and refeed eh. Sammy dont stress you'll be fine I lost 15kg in the first 6weeks but yes the weightloss is about a 2kg loss for most people once your body settles into the diet, and a bit slower when you get near your goal. Keep up the great weightloss everybody. Talk soon Chezhttp://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...057/weight.png
Hi Everyone,
I missed breakfast this morning. Too busy getting oldest child off to school camp and middle child who was having school uniform dramas.
I think I need to make muffins for these types of days, because it is so easy just to say 'it's too late to eat now'.
Thanks to all for your meal ideas.
Sammy - Your weight loss might depend on how much you have to lose overall. My weight loss is very slow and has been from the start. I am losing around 1kg a week. It is frustrating because I want it all now..but realise I am in the best shape I have been in for years and I'm eating really well.
It will be 7 weeks for me on Thursday. I am still not hungry although I have noticed I am in the cupboards a lot 'looking' for something. Eating for me has always been a comfort thing (food never lets you down) and I will be getting the results of my exams on Friday. My stress levels have gone up considerably.
My consultant said that could be in part why my weight loss is so slow. Stress slows down everything apparently. So...with that...my life isn't going to get any less stressful so I might as well focus on the positive - I am losing weight but at a snails pace
I am off to a function this week where they will be serving the best wine! ( I'd love even half a glass!) and really yummy food. Somehow I don't think Cohens will be on the menu. I'll let you know how I go!
Its great to see so many posts - everyone is doing so well!!
I'm pleased to report my skin seems to have settled down from the bread. Today I was allowed to have 2 pieces of bread so I made a chicken salad sandwich. It didn't look very big, but I struggled to eat it all. Before the diet, I could scoff a a huge baguette or a double cut roll down no problems at all! Now, I can't even get through a sandwich!!! I'm really struggling with the quantities on the refeed and I'm not even close to eating all that I'm allowed. But I guess that's a good thing because at least I'm not eating just for the sake of it.
Divinemissnat, glad to hear you got through your first day okay. The 5 hour gap is a pain, particularly on weekends for brekky, but you'll get yourself into some sort of routine before you know it.
Myshy, hope you're feeling a little better. Chicken kebabs are a nice change to the usual stirfry that I have. Cut the chicken into cubes and slice up you veggie allowance - I use mushrooms, onion, zucchini and capsicum - and alternate them on skewers. If I've got some time to spare before I have to eat, I mix up my mayo allowance with some water and curry powder and brush it over the kebabs, cover them with gladwrap and pop them in the fridge for a while. I cook them in the health grill. Very nice to use prawns instead of chicken too.
Sammy, I'm sure your weigh in will be great tomorrow. Good luck and let us know how you go.
Kaseysmum, 2 kg in 3 days is fantastic! Well done!
Well, it's time for dinner so better go. I'm going to add 35gm to my protein allowance and 35gm to my veg allowance and see how I go - that'll be 150gm meat and 150gm veg ... I feel full just thinking about it!
HOORAY I finally worked out this ticker with a bit of persistance YEEHA Good stuff with the refeed IMR I bet you loved your chicken sandwich and thanx for the tips on the kebabs will have to try the mayo basting sauce.Talk tomorrow. Goodnite everyone.
