Thumbs up Congratulations!!!! *****

Hi everyone,
Great to see everyone is doing so well and making progress with their weightloss.

I have been yo-yoing for the last week but I feel I am now continuing in the right direction. The challenge for me is on the weekend with a christening and a birthday to attend. I'm not superwoman nor do I have willpower of steel. Have been looking at changing the model of my wagon and investing in one that I can't fall off. Hard to find this one but am trying!!!!

I just want to say congratulations to everyone as we have made it to page 50 of this forum and it is FIVE STAR rated. It's the only forum with this rating!!!! Keep up the good work everyone as the support is fantastic and we have a huge network of friends.

Have a good day tomorrow.

I walked away, I took my sugar craving tablet, I had a nectarine, I drank a coffee, I drank some water I did everything else but eat that damn donut!

AND I FEEL GREAT!!!

STARVING BUT GREAT!!!!

Thumbs down the only wagon I'm thinking of is a tasty wagon wheel

Good work Cryss. You did better than me - today was a total rightoff for me. I'm caving in because I'm having such a stressful time at work... I know it's no excuse!

KK- you mean krispy kreme right? Fortunately we don't have that over here in the West. Probably a good thing I guess!

I'm having a drink with the girls tomorrow after work - I'm going make it an official "farewell fatty" drinks! I found some old photos of myself and I was completely ashamed.

Thanks for the advice rjm. I also find constantly crunching ice helps. Doesn't need to be anything but plain old ice, but it's refreshing and suprisingly distracts you from feeling hungry.

Happymummy- I'll be riding the wagon properly soon. I know I can do it... your logic is inspiring, but I don't think I'll be counting minutes! If I get that obsessed with time I'll go nuts.
And yes, I'm suffering flabby arms (they are seriously like dumbo's ears) and my belly is squishy - when I look in the mirror at my belly button, it looks like a coin slot for a piggy bank (OMG I can't believe I'm sharing this!)

Long term goal: a normal looking cute belly button!

For those with a sweet tooth - my fave recipe for a real treat...

Caramelised mango- fresh mango allowance (preferably a full mango cheek skin left on)
- heat a grill pan until it's very hot (if you don't have a grill pan, a normal non stick frypan works - it just doesn't look as pretty without the grill lines)
-either squeeze a little lemon juice onto the mango flesh, or sprinkle with a little hermesetas (depending on your taste buds)
- cook the mango lemon/sugared side down until heated through and the flesh has caramelised (golden brown)
serve warm (tastes good cold too - especially for brekky with yogurt).

SW: 134.5
CW: maybe 100 (give or take until I pluck the courage to jump on the scales)
GW: 65

Mini goal1: to get on the scales on Monday so I can start a funky ticker.
Main goal for Feb: lose 10kg.

Hi again.
I've now completed my 3rd day back on the program, and I'm finding the hunger is not quite as bad this morning, so I'm hoping that I'll soon be back in ketosis. I've decided that I will go down to 65 kg and then start the re-feed as I lost 2.5kg on the re-feed last time I completed it.
Cryss - excellent work. Doesn't it feel great to know you have had the willpower to say no, especially when someone is being so "nice" and constantly offering you things like Krispy Kreams.
Dreamer - that mango recipe has my mouth watering. I will definately be trying that one soon!
Katie - try to stay focused. It is really hard to get back on track if you break the diet. If the weight loss has slowed down, try to increase your water, or if you eat salt, try cutting back on this. It usually works for me.
Healthymum - ask your sister if she can put all her junk into a seperate cupboard that you won't look in. If it's not right in your face you might not find it as tempting.
Nat - well done. Hopefully a few more days back on it, and the cravings will disappear. How much more weight do you have to lose?
Have a great day everyone. Talk to you soon.
Beck

Staying on the wagon....

I think that I may have finally put up the rails on the wagon, I'm not saying they won't erode or perish but I'm trying really hard.

I've lost a bit more this week. ..I am a compulsive weigher and I can't help myself.. that's just the way I am - I take the good with the bad....

Cryss

LOL I have three toddlers;

1. 31yr who is spoilt rotten and is a constant attention seeker, tantrum chucker and whinger.

2. 4yr Anthony an angel when he's asleep, only joking - he's like all other kids really.... Mummy boy unil Pops around ( he's no.1 grand son)

3. 2yr Zachary my blue eyed blonded haired baby.. literally keeps the spring in my step.. I have become Kathy Freedom with him....(pops boy too)

I really hang out for this forum... Is that a normal thing??? LOL

oK... Kids are fighting and Zac just come out of the bathroom wearing his undies as a skirt so... I better go check things out...

Cheers ladies....

Talking Day4.... again!

Day 4 today back on the wagon and my wagon is made of steel, i tell ya!
craving absolutely everything! i'm soooo hungry (or so im only imagining).

i bought some cromium tablets or whatever they are. haven't had one today because i forgot before i left for work.

i had to buy my boss a card and i bought him a chocie - rocky road from darrel lea and its sitting here.... waiting for me to open it. i held off for the last 24 hours and still not eating it. but its constantly on my mind "i can eat it and buy one tomorrow " (that's when his bday is, i accidentally thought it was today) anyway, i'm not gonna eat it.

the icypoles are definately good to munch on, you're right about that.

anyway, the weight is slowly.... slowly coming off and yay i get to change my ticker

come on, gals, wagons of steel!!!!

When i was at KFC there was these young surfie guys thinkin they were pretty cool showin off a bit of ink probably all of 19 yrs old maybe and as im a bit of a collector of ink myself they noticed my tattoos and comented i felt a little embarrased as im like 35 turning 36 this year I got mine about 5 years ago was a midlife 30 crisis ha ha, anyway ive decided when i get to 75kg am gonna get another tattoo then another at goal 68kg so bring it on.
Talking about toddlers Ive got a two year old Kasey my little princess/monster she's blonde with blue eyes am so shocked Ive got a blondey as im half maltese and quite dark haired but looks like shes taken after her Dad then ive got an 11 year old son Aaron hes dark haired like me and very handsome. We got a rabbit and guinea pig at xmas time and I got another guinea pig as she was sooo cute and a baby and now ive just found out ive got one male and a female oh no dont want to breed either so might have to get one desexed bet thats not cheap either.
Hey Kim havent found out about tots tumbling yet, am looking at starting aqua tots at the pool when school goes back next week but will find out next time im at Erindale. Lets be good and not give into temptation its not worth it hey.
Hey did anyone watch Prisonbreak last nite? Was brilliant, am gonna be addicted to watching that every week now.
I hired a britex a couple of days ago and man it gave me a workout I did 3 bedrooms, lounge dining, mats, hallway and two lounges what hard work Id hate to do it for a job the muscles in my arms are still recovering LOL.

Imagine That????

Kaseysmum

How funnies that??? Let me explain.

My hubby is maltese although he was born here.

All his family originate from Gozo in malta (i think that is spelt propertly?) and another town but I can't think of it.

Tony's aussie relatives live mostly in Kurrajong, Blacktown, Glenmore Park and Penrith areas.

Our first born was very woggie born but he has faired up but has lovely olive skin, his eyes are brown with a blue rim-weird....

Tony firmly beleives he'll go darker again as he gets older.

Our baby Zac is just like me - blonde hair blue eyes very fair skin.... When he was born his hair was white, so were his eye lashes and his eyebrows and haven't really changed alot. .... Tony joke at the time was his mate had paid me a visit... personal joke as he's fair like me ...LOL...

I know you probably feel bad about the KFC??? ... I'd nearly kill for some popcorn chicken or a zinger burger...

I was never a big bread or pasta eater but you know it makes it really hard to have a meal some days without these staples...

I know my husband is really geting jack of all the salads and eating habits... He often gives out snide remarks...

Since I started Cohens initially he lost weight but now he is 15kg heavier than me.. go figure??

The weather here is unbearable today 42 degrees, I haven't stopped sweating all day...

I hope I've melted off a few kilos today ..I had heaps of water and icy poles...

Just waiting for the shade to come over our backyard so that we can hop in the pool...That doesn't happen until around 5pm only 20 minutes to go...yippee...

The kids can't wait....

Hello everyone,
Had a busy week so far but a good one. Feeling really satisfied with it.
I seem to have lived off spinach this week - I think I might have grilled zuchini tonight, and maybe after work tomorrow I might get a chance to restock the fridge!
So good that there are so many people posting.
Kaseysmum: Stay strong. Each deviation makes it just that much longer. You will be so pleased with yourself when you get there and KFC will be on the agenda again.
lisab: Good on you for not eating the chocolate - what an achievement. You are right about the icypoles. On a lighter note, I tried to really make my diet ginger beer cold the other night. Left it too long and my freezer was covered in frozen ginger beer. The lid had blown to the back of the fridge and I can't believe the bottle didn't break. O dear. And take the chromium, it works.
Happymummy: Definitely I am a compulsive weigher, but I feel very comfy about it. I chart my weight on a daily basis and colour code it. I have learnt not to be anxious about fluctuations, it all evens out in the end. And it is very satisfying to watch it on a daily basis. Each .1 of a kilo means something. I do only weigh once a day though.
rjm: so good to have someone like you on the forum, who has lost weight, done the refeed, and then to be so determined to get the rest off. Way to go! So good. And I am so encouraged to hear about how much and what you were able to eat yet stay stable. Thanks for telling us about it - it is very motivating. We have something to look forward to here.
Healthymum: Hang in there. You have this great anniversary to look forward to and this is something special that you want to bring to it - you can do it. It will be so satisfying. If you keep feeling tempted, drink something with more substance, take more vitamins, especially chromium, but stay strong. It will be a real achievement for you.
myshy: nearly another week, I hope the scales are moving. You look so good, people must be noticing.
divinemissnat: you are so close too. Just a tad more - keep your eyes focused on your goal. Then we can all drool while you tell us about refeed.
Moni: You rock! And you lose so fast. Who can catch you? It must be such a dream for weight to move so fast. I am really impressed. And you are so positive.
Cryss: Hope you are staying on track, or should I say trail. Don't worry about calories and fat. They are low aren't they? Ultimately this is simply one of those times when we follow the plan and the plan gets us there. How fast depends on our metabolism and that is out of our hands. So just do your best and you will achieve your goal. And what a celebration you will have then.

Having said that, Nat, was it you who said something about carbs? Maybe that is the only thing we can modify ( not that I seem to have had much luck in it making too much difference). Interested to see how that aspect is going for you?

So many people! So to everyone else, keep at. As you can see from this forum, you are not alone, and as others have told us: the end is worth it.
Bye!

HollyGolightly is on a distinguished road
Hello :)

Hi everyone,

I finally plucked up the courage to post. I've been reading this forum for a little while, and I love you all for your bravery and support so I thought I should introduce myself.

I called myself Holly Golightly because I love Audrey Hepburn, especially in 'Breakfast At Tiffany's'. I by no means think I'll ever look like her, but she is a nice, elegant style role model. It's sad that when you're big you feel as though you don't deserve to wear nice things.

I started Cohen's a month ago, and had my 4 week weigh-in today. I'd lost 4 kilos (but 5 on my scales). I tried to keep it together when they said that it was very good, in the right direction but kind of slow compared to most. I have so much to lose I felt sure I'd lose it faster. But any loss is good right?

Probably my biggest impediment to losing weight is the fact that I have a sister with Anorexia, so fat and dieting are dirty words in my house. So for the few years she's had that, I think we have both (she and I) been overfeeding me to compensate. But that's kind of a long story.

Anyway, I could really do with a LOT of support from other people doing Cohen's, and this seemed like the right place. I'm so sorry for the long post.

Good night and good luck everyone x

Hey there all you shrinking gals!! And BIG welcome to HollyGolightly! We are glad you have decided to join us and we are here to give you all the support you need. Whereabouts in Melbourne are you? And which clinic do you go to?

Day 4 on the wagon... Craving all over the place... (PMS isnt helping) But staying strong and happy to report a 400g loss this morning, which takes me down to 56.2kg. I am getting closer! Seems once the weightloss slows down you get ecsatic over any loss.

Cryss- great work on not caving in to the Krispy kreme offer! That must've taken a will of steel. Good on you!

rjm- My Cohen goal weight is 51-54kg. Funny, when I started I thought i'd be so happy just to get to around 55-57kg and I thought I'd stop there. But now that I am at this weight I can see how for my frame I need to keep going a bit more, so I am aiming for the lower end of that, 51-52kg. So I have 4 or 5 kg to go.

Lisa B- I often forget to take my multivitamin with chromium so I have invested in a pill box from the chemist (cost a whole $2.70) which i have stocked with my multi and I keep it in my handbag so that even if I forget in the morning, I can take it when I remember. This might be an idea for you to help you to remember?

Kaseysmum- I love finding out what people plan to reward themselves with after graduating from Cohen's! The new tatt's are a very original idea! Any design ideas yet?

Lizzi- Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm happy to share that info, just email me and I'll email it to you. I'm still checking it out myself.

Healthymum- Kim Was great chatting with you last night. I thought of you today when I was having my lunch and I realised what keeps me strong in the day. You said you were fine at brekky but lunch was where things came unstuck.
Have you tried making your lunch while you are making your brekky and having it ready to go at lunch time? With my job I am in shopping centres all day and the temptations are endless and in my face constantly. But because I know that my lunch is already made and waiting to go, I dont want to waste the food I have already prepared. I think it works for me because I dont have to think about the possibilities of what I could have. Its there, ready to go, no thinking and no time involved. It doesnt sound like much but it works for me. Might be worth a try? I also tend to go the fish option coz thats the protein I get the most quantity of. Its amazing how 120g of tuna looks like so much at lunch time! And I have a piece of fruit after and I am satisfied.

Myshy- Great chatting with you last night too! I think I will be in Geelong probably Thursday. If you want to email me your details we can organise a chat.

Whoops- this has been a rather long post!
Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! Be strong!
Nat
