Rep Power: 59 | | My program says "Beef Lean (Any steak without fat)" and in the notes next to that "Do not buy minced meat off the shelf. Select a lean steak & ask your butcher to mince it for you". Cheers, Cate. |

Rep Power: 7 | | Yeah.. mine said that too... but it had extra lean, X% of fat or less, so I took a chance.... and well I shouldn't have.
Next time, I will most definately do that.
What type of lean beef, the cut do you all buy? |

Rep Power: 13 | | | Food Hi Az thanks for your kind words, I feel better this morning, i think i have passed my crisis point and hope that i can move on with more positive outlook, or at least move on... ha ha ha
I must admit that I too bought Minced breast from a specialty chicken shop and my weight has hardly moved,it dawned on me yesterday...Dob... I have been getting frustrated and realised all too late why it might be, so no more for either of us ha ha ha, so back to mincing my own.. boo hoo
I tend to prefer porterhouse/sirloin, its usally nice and tender, i just love red meat.. yum yum I also have rump steak too but it is that bit more chewy....
My plan for today will be egg as i am out of yogurt with veg, Steak for lunch and chicken for dinner, i must remember to buy some lettuce so i can make i mini salad....Fruits will be apples (x2)...
I hope you can resist temptation on the footy excursion, I too will be among food and drink, hubby will be with me so i am sure he will put temption in its place..
Good luck and keep up your great work...

Rep Power: 7 | | | No More Mince/Ground! Ok.. well maybe a little...
Ok.. NONE!
I went and bought all new chicken yesterday and will break it all down before I have to freeze it. That was the bad mistake I made the last time. Lesson learned.
I've hit another "plateau" as I have lost any in a few days. But that's ok, I know it's just my body getting used to everything again and then I'll have another cycle of loss in a few days. I usually lose 3 days straight... then go up a lbs and then palteau... and then lose that pound and dop a few more.
Hopefully switching to chicken will help a lot.
I'm also going to try cutting down on crackers... but I am not going to do that until the next 4 weeks. |

Rep Power: 7 | | | Day 20 (10.22.2008) Today I'll enjoy:
Yogurt
Apple
Cracker
Feta salad (Spinach, Tomato, Cucumber)
Apple
Chicken with Salad (Spinach, Tomato, Cucumber)
Crackers, if hungry.
I also need to go up to 3 L of water I think. So I've been good about getting the 2 in the past few days but now I am going to step it up... |

Rep Power: 59 | | I know that you know to limit tomatoes but perhaps I would cut them down even more. They are so high in sugar(carbs). The cuts of steak I would ask for would be topside, rump, porterhouse or even blade. I'm not sure if you call them that in the US. It's best to choose steaks with the fat visible, rather than flecked through it & then ask your butcher to cut the visible fat off & then mince it for you. Do you ever have an egg for breakfast? I alternated egg/mushroom/tomato(with 2 crackers) with yoghurt/fruit as my breakfast options, depending on how much time I had in the morning. Sometimes I would have a 1 egg omelette with spinach & mushroom & some dried herbs. Mixing things around can help with weight-loss as well I think. I used to make soup with chicken & asparagus(canned), a little onion, & celery & it's very convenient to have at work if you have a microwave. I used to do the cooking on days off. I'd weigh x amount of chicken breast, cut up with x amount of vegetables from the allowance & cook each one separately. Sometimes I'd have 3-4 saucepans each with approx the same combinations of soup going at the same time. Then I would blitz some, leave others whole & freeze them individually & mark them Meal 2 chicken soup. Another day off I might cook a small beef curry with vegetables in it etc. Minced steak I would have portioned out in the freezer as either Meal 1 or Meal 2 & almost always cooked it as a "chop suey" with cabbage, celery. mushrooms, curry powder, garlic salt & a little balsamic added at the end of cooking. This is also nice microwaved.
I've probably gone on a bit more than I intended. I have never been particularly interested in cooking until I did Cohen's. Now I appreciate good food & good cooking so much more. Enjoy your football! We love football here but it's a very different game to yours & their are many different codes of football. I follow Australian Rules & barrack for St.Kilda. In much of New South Wales & Queensland Rugby is their football code. Then there is what many people(our YS is 1 of them) consider the only football- Soccer. It's played everywhere. I think your football is more like Rugby. Is that so? Do you follow a team with passion?
In Baltimore Lacrosse seemed huge. I don't know anyone who pays lacrosse here.
Sorry to go on so much in your diary. I had better scoot over to mine. Thanks for your best wishes re the "Nationals". Go Tassie! Tasmania has only won one Australian Championship & our OS was in that team many years ago. We'll need all the luck & best wishes we can get. Cheers, cate |

Rep Power: 7 | | | My consultant told me no more than 35g per meal 2 times a day, so I have been sticking to that this past week.
Should I cut back even more than that? |

Rep Power: 59 | | | No. If you are sticking to that it should be ok really. I just went & weighed one of my tomatoes in the fridge & it weighed 146g. Our program said 1/2 a tomato per meal, maximum 1 per day so I'm sure that often I would have had more than 35g. It's probably the mince that has slowed you down a little. Cheers, Cate. |

Rep Power: 7 | | I am 100% sure it was the hamburger!!!!
I lost 1.1 lbs yesterday alone, 3lbs for the week since I stopped having it!
AND I even had my first 2 deviations in this week!
They weren't huge, but last firday I have Feta salad.. and I already had it the past Tuesday, so I broke the "Only Once a Week Rule" and then Wednesday, I was testing this microwave hard egg cooker thing, and I had a hard boailed egg white.
Still not huge, but 3 lbs this week!
When I was eating the hamburger, I had a 2 lbs week and a 1.6 lbs week!
So.. I think this means I should have a MUCH bigger month 2 than month 1! Or at least I hope!
I only lost 10 lbs my first month, well 13.5 if you add in the first 4 days extra.
But I did lose 8 inches and 22 inches from total body measurements! |
