Thumbs up in the zone-again I hope

hi guys, me again
I did cohens 2 years ago and lost alot from 92 down to 73,seems unbelievable as I write this. I am back to 87 and can't seem to shift it. I am back on the merrygoround.Should I do Cohens, should I do ww,should I try jennycraig or gastric banding???Aargh.
The only one that ever really worked was cohens. I seem to remember you guys being a great help to start with as I don't live near a centre so am basically alone in this.
I started cohens after my brother came over from africa for a holiday and took some awful photo's of me. He agreed to give up smoking and I eating(well you know what I mean), now he is coming for another holiday in December. I would love to be 10 or 15kilo's lighter.
My mum and dad will be here in 4 or 5 weeks and my insanely skinny sister on 20th dec with her new husband and teenage kids whom I haven't met. I would so love to not be the fat aunty.
Can I do it again?and in such a short time?
I might need your help
I might try tomorrow.
thanks for listening

right thread this time

I posted that message yesterday on what I thought was a cohens thread but it turned out to be a general thread so they all told me to exercise more and eat less only way to lose weight and it wasn't possible to lose 15kgs by xmas.
Now that I am in the right place maybe you guys could help.Is it possible?
We all know the formula its the putting it into practice that is the problem
anyway hopefully all those wonderful cohenites out there will give me a nudge in the right direction.
I have completed 1 day no deviations and dropped 1kg already, and also went to the gym for 30min and did an 11 hr working day so all in all not bad I reckon.

I think an improtatnt tng to look at might be caused the gain?

Did you go back to old eating habits or what?

Good luck on the program again are you using your old eating plan or did you start all over?

I know a few people that started over, had totally different plans from what they had the first go around.

Hi Katy,
You have made the right decision by wanting to do Cohen's again ("the only one that ever really worked was Cohen's") but an even better decision would be to buy a new plan as your hormone levels would be quite different and as CohenInAz said you might find that the plan is very different now to what it was 2 years ago. I did not use my clinic for support much as it was 3 hours away from my home. I emailed them occasionally or phoned but used the forums for my support.
The blood tests I think are crucial & pick up things that we would not. I was drinking way too much water at one stage for example & would have been leaching the essential vitamins & minerals from my body.
Everything we do, including losing weight and/or putting it back on should be seen as a learning experience. We didn't learn to drive in just one lesson. Often learning good eating habits is a gradual thing. I'm 55 & constantly learning.
Welcome back to the forum Katy and all the best. I hope you do decide on Cohen's as to me it has made such an improvement to my health, life and life expectancy, general well-being and self-confidence. Know that you can do it as you have done before, cheers, Cate.

I have decided on cohens thanks girls. I read a post the other day that said Cohens is like pregnancy you either areon it or you aren't there is no inbetween, so with that thought in mind I am. I have had 2 days now, no headaches, not hard, just doing it. I am also going to the gym in the hope that I can get fit enough to continue exercising when I am at goal weight.Thats what happened this time. I didn't get to maintenance. I actually have officially had a contract twice. I started again with cohens 6 months ago and paid out for a whole new contract so I really don't think it helped me. I know my bloods are all over but I can't afford another 600 dollars after already shelling out $1200 and getting nowhere.
I will just use my second program and see how I go, closer to the time of goal I might join again just to get maintenence.
Thanks again

Hi Katy,
I am also doing my program for the second time and having huge success. I am now down 34kgs in 21 weeks..Yayyy.
10 - 15kgs is certainly achievable by Christmas. I'm heading towards the end of my program (so the weight loss usually slows a bit) and I intend to lose another 12kgs in the next 7 weeks!! It might be a bit ambitious I know but it is possible on Cohens!!
You can do it and be super skinny like your sister. It must be quite a few days down now and I'm sure there have been no deviations.
I look forward to hearing your progress.
Take care
Beck

difficult days-no sleep

hi guys, thanks for the encouragement. I am about4 or 5 days in and only 1 deviation.I ate 2 bites of pizza and 2 pieces of licorice. I am sooo tired.
I work on call as a radiographer and have been on since tuesday night and I have been back in 20 times, thats not including my normal nine to five 5 days a week. Usually they are all 10 or 15 minute jobs but some have been 3 hours or 2 hours so I am stuffed. I am trying to eat cohens style but it is difficult as the pizza incident was at 3am. I just got home from work and knew I had to go back in in an hour so I couldn't sleep,so as we all know eating is the next best thing.
my weight has only dropped 2 kgs in 5 days, so I reckon it must have something to do with disrupted sleep.
anyway. I will persevere as my pants are too tight and I am not going to let it get the better of me. Tonight is my last night for a few days so I can sleep to my hearts content.
I was so proud of myself as we went out to dinner on Friday and I only had scotch fillet and a few tomatoe pieces and a few salad leaves. I even cut most of the steak off and gave it my hubby. I drank only sprite zero and a black coffee and then I go and do something stupid like eat pizza.
Back to the gym tomorrow too and I am not sure if that would be slowing my weightloss too. I know we aren't supposed to do excessive exercise, but I have to have something in place so that I can continue to be thin when I get there.
I will go and lay my head down for five after I have tidied the house a bit. I wonder if this overwhelming tiredness is also my body getting used to Cohens. I seem to remember this happening for a week or two last time?

Katy, I have delayed posting anything & wondered if I should.
There's such a different way of looking at everything.
Only 4 or 5 days in & you deviated already.
Hardly getting any sleep. (Eating is the next best thing to sleep??)
In the gym so that you can maintain things when you get thin?
You need to get there first and with Cohen's excessive exercise is considered a deviation because it leads to hunger because we are consuming very few calories. You didn't like being told that more exercise was the only way to go in the main part of the forum.
Your overwhelming tiredness sounds like it would be a mixture of many things including your demanding job, lack of sleep and vigorous exercise on little food. I think most people would find your job very tiring. Are you able to take short "power naps"?
Your 2kg weight-loss in only 5 days! That's good considering. There are not many programs that work as well as Cohen's but unless you are prepared to follow their guidelines it will be an uphill battle.
I do not want to discourage you and I would love to see you get on track and follow the program as it's meant to be followed. You know that it works as you have been successful on it before.
I usually don't post at all rather than risk sounding at all discouraging and I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I mean it to be positive. I hope you can get in the zone but you will not get there unless you do it 100%.
I really do recommend laying off the gym for the moment. Give yourself a chance. All the best & I hope I didn't offend, cheers, Cate.

much better!

Cate I don't take offense at all. (it is so hard sometimes to say things and and they don't come out the right way, isn't it?)
I appreciate your concern, comments like yours are the reason I come on here in the first place. I need someone to be the voice of reason and you did, thank you
I am now 7 days in and have got into it properley.I have lost 2.5kgs in this week and am looking forward to that evry week.
I do still go to the gym but after the initial shock my body is very happy with that. Now that my horrer call weekend is over I can see clearly and am starting to get that energy boost that you get with cohens. The feeling of being 'clean and pure" on the inside. That is about the best way I can describe it. It is a lovely feeling knowing that your body is working properly.
I think I may have been saved too, as the girls that handle my 2nd contract phoned me yesterday and said what are you doing, yes or no?
I have emailed them back saying definately yes, so I will wait and see if they will let me continue my contract, then I can get the refeed when I get there.
so feeling good and powering ahead now.
thanks again cate.

Unhappy slowly, slowly

Hi guys
The weight is coming off, oh so slowly but coming. I am just an impatient person. I weigh myself every day and I know I shouldn't but it keeps me on track.
Cohens told me that I have one month left to complete my contract. They want $45 a month after that in order to phone me and tell me to keep on the program. Not sure what to do. I may see how the month rounds out. I desperately want the refeed but can't do it in a month. Also Xmas is coming up and I know its no excuse but I have family coming blah, blah, blah...
At the moment I am sick of steak.I think I need to alter my dinner choices a bit.I have been hungry today for the first time in a while, wonder why?that time of month maybe?
I am feeling better but not sure now if it is cohens or gym.My double spare tire is almost only 1 spare tyre.Even at 73kgs which is what I got to last time with cohens I still had a belly fat apron, does it ever go away?
I'm flat, but still tired I think.
My parents look like they are only coming nov10 so that gives me more time to lose weight.4 weeks I think.2.5kgs per week for 4 weeks=10kgs.I like that math.
anyway better go before I make everyone as miserable as me tonight.Talk later when I feel happier.
see ya

i must say that it does sound expensive... per month... then when refeed comes what are they going to do? charge you extra on top of the extra?
we all deal with our life in different ways and some of us take just that little bit longer to get into cohens mode.. I find if i deviate it opens the flood gates and takes me a few days to get back into cohens mode... I am sorry it has taken so long for me to post, i am always quiet on the forum when i have been naughthy... its a big give away.. ha h aha...
Well you have just about 6 weeks so iam sure that you can work wonders.. You will feel great .. look great and be proud..

I better go and update my blog.. confess my sins...

Be good to yourself
