-30 kg for my 30th birthday

Big hello for every other Cohenist!

Here I am, after my very first cohen day, and still alive.

I got the program on thursday avo, did some shopping and a lot cleaning in my fridge and pantry on friday, and started the cohen yesterday. My goal is losing 30kg for my 30th birthday, which is in March. The first small goal is being under 80 for my hubbys birthday, which is in Sept, which means I have to lose 10kg!
I was realy shocked yesterday after my two meals, those were too small portions. And I had got a rough night as well, because I got a very heavy nausea and puke back my whole dinner and even water what I drunk afterwards. Did anyone experienced the same?? But today I`m fine, hungry of course, but okay.
I gonna cook a yummy soup for lunch: onion, some celery, mushrooms, spices and turkey breast cooked in water until the turkey is tender. Set aside meat, blend the soup, dice meat and put back in soup. Flavour it with some parsley.

Ianina, you've started really well - preparing by cleaning out pantry etc is great!

You can expect your body will do a lot of objecting during the first week - however, I've never vomitted or felt nausea or even anything like it. The usual for me is headache, which is horrible, but goes after a couple of days. If you are sick, and DON'T have a headache, you may well have picked up something. We have kids at school with a bit of a vomitting wog, and seems most of them are reasonably fine in the day and sick in the evening. Perhaps it's that???

Anyway, stick with it - your body will scream for more food, but if you stick to the portions, you will settle into it after a week, and after two weeks you will gradually start feeling REALLY good!

Your goals are really achievable, so just do exactly what they say and you should have no problem with it working for you too.

Just remember - if you are tired during the first week, or feel "weak", just rest - your body will soon adapt to the portions and you'll eventually feel better than ever. Just takes a week or two. Don't overdo anything, and make sure whatever you make on the diet is something you quite like eating. You'll stick to it much better that way. So, if soups are your thing, use the portions to make a yummy soup - you'll get good at inventing ways of making it attractive without breaking the diet.

I have to be honest and say that days 3 through to 5 are about the worst for me in starting this diet (I've done it twice for various reasons), so watch that time!!! After that, it gets lots easier.

Have a good week!!!

Hi Ianina, Well done on starting a diary thread. You mind find you have more to say than you think. Feel free to use us all as a sounding board. I think your goals are achievable and I hope you feel much better soon. Your body will adjust & you should start feeling better within a few days. As Niyah says, try to take it easy & get as much sleep as you can. I'll come back & visit tomorrow. Cheers for now, Cate.

Hi! My advise is to breakdown the cracker and fruit allowances during the day so that you don't get too hungry. Make sure you are taking enough vitamin and mineral supplements.

Day 6

It`s day 6 so far, hunger is gone with headache and nausea as well (TG). I feel okay, and finally my portions seem okay, not to way small. But I wouldn`t say I enjoy them, it`s just okay, eat them because this is the key to my new body. I would eat a bunch of wrong stuff such as bread, berries, chicken wings, OMG, I still miss them a lot...
Did anyone realize how many tv programms and ads showing eating people?? I know I`m addicted to food, but watching tv makes me feel more miserable, because I see myself from a viewer`s eye: this fatty girl is watching yummy ads and chewing a celery stick...isn`t it miserable?
I still need adapt and adjust a lot to this diet or healthy eating, I know it`s a long way to go.

Ianina, it's great you are going so well so far.

In the early days, it is just "eat from the plan" and you get used to it. Later on, you'll learn to accept and like it. And then - guess what - all those ads of people eating with fat dripping from the chicken etc will just look SOOOOOooooooo revolting you'll be amazed you found it so nice once upon a time!!! Trust me - been there, and I was a great big fan of things like KFC before doing the diet.

You actually get to feel sick of tired of the whole emphasis on food (especially bad food) - the ads of people just stuffing themselves continually, kids overeating and all that. After a while, you really come to appreciate the idea of eating less, and making what you do eat worthwhile.

Have you ever seen one of those simulated lumps of 1kg of human fat???? Lots of the Cohen clinics have them... so absolutely GROSSSS..... I just translate in my mind a piece of chocolate or fatty fast food into a lump or two of that disgusting, oily, blubbery yellow fat and go quickly off the idea of eating anything like that!!! It doesn't feel half so attractive when you realise that's what it eventually ends up being...

It's early days, so push on. But my tip is - for yourself, buy the best food you can afford that really appeals to you. (Family just makes do with normal food as usual!!!!) Sure you can eat steak, but if you can get a T-bone, porterhouse or something, it's so much nicer! It costs a lot more per kilo, but you aren't eating much at a time, so one or two pieces go a long way. It feels luxurious to cook up something like that. A really nice piece of steak with fresh mushrooms browning in the frypan goes a long way with me. The money you spend on that is saved when you add up everything you are now NOT EATING, believe me!

I bought myself two frypans when I started this time around - good quality and fairly heavy non-stick ones, fairly small with a good lip on the edge. That way I can cook something like a T-bone with minimum of anything in the pan and it will go nicely brown. Plus the button mushrooms. Button mushrooms have become my big friends, and I never ate them that much before!!!!!!! Shows how much things change when you do convince your body to accept different food.

Anyway, whatever particularly appeals to you that you can do on the plan, just do it!!!! At the first it feels like you are "missing out" on things, but when you start to lose the weight and feel much better, when your body and tastebuds adapt, it all gets to be a whole brand new experience.

So, hang in there, hang in there, hang in there!!!! After a month you will feel like you can eat like this long term.

I no longer long for the day I'm "finished". Even though I know eventually refeed and maintenance come, I'm just enjoying the ride, and enjoying getting up every single day to make new good choices. There's no end to this journey if you want good health and a good figure. You will seriously wonder why you ever ventured into a fast food store before in your life!

I think it is a matter of experimenting how to cook your food to make it interesting. Once your own food starts to get interesting, you don't envy what people eat outside that much.

I love mushrooms!!!!! We can get many types of mushrooms in Singapore. When I feel like eating fleshy stuff or big portion, I prepare a mushroom dish. My favourite is Shitake mushrooms. Mushrooms are very light in weight so they will turn out to be quite a BIG pile to finish for one cohen meal. It also added unique taste and fragrance when you cook them with the other protein. I just love the smell of them when I stir-fried them.

I also enjoy the fact that I am saving $ by not eating outside. Nowadays I like roaming in the supermarket looking at the spices and herbs. Checking out which are the kind I can use.

Fantastic Ianina!!! The losses are greatest in the beginning, which is really motivating, so enjoy the next few weeks!!!!

You will notice that the clothes sizes start going down pretty soon too. Nothing like being able to fit into something that's been too tight for a while, or even better, get something new!!

Ianina- What a great start! Well done for not deviating. We'll let you off with a warning, rather than a big smack, for weighing so soon! LOL- just kidding! It is best not to weigh though as your weight fluctuates all the time & you may lose heart. Best to rely on the tape measure. You know now that Cohen's works though & that is the best motivation. You are going to love this journey!!
We have all been helped by one another and before you know it you'll be an old hand & offering your support as well. Cohen's gives you the confidence to do so. I find whenever I might feel a little down I come in here & am smiling in no time at all. It's also a great way to fill in time when you are having trouble getting through those 5 hours until the next meal. I used to do that all the time at the start.
Welcome to the forum Ianina & welcome to Cohen's. Cheers, Cate.

Congratulations!

I know how hard it is to keep off the scale. I am struggling this time too. Initially I thought keeping off scale will not be able to motivate myself but I was wrong. I wore my jeans yesterday and was glad to find it not as snug as it was a week before.

Hi Ianina!!

WOW -- completing your first week feels AWESOME, doesn't it?
And you DID it! You stuck through it... that earns you a massive STAR!!

It'll soon get easier, you'll see. After 4 weeks you're so into your program, that you already think the Cohen's way. Everything comes naturally...
Which really makes it so much easier.

And you're well on your way! The first week doesn't sound like much, but SO many people can't make it, so whoo hooo for you!

And congrats on your terrific results! Cohen's does work, and the proof is in the pudding -- so to speak

Good luck for your 2nd week..

Keep well,
xxxxx
