Rep Power: 59 | | Sue, I always had my next day's meals organised. Sometimes I might change my mind about how I would cook something but always had everything ready. It's the best way. None of the "Well I haven't any of my food handy so I'll just have what the family is having, just this once...." I also had vegies prepared & ready in labelled containers. I'll find a photo of the inside of my fridge when I was on Cohen's & add it to my profile soon. I can laugh at myself but I still think preparation is the key with Cohen's. That & determination! Cheers, Cate |

Rep Power: 3 | | | I woke up this morning quite excited to start.
I drank 500ml before breakfast. I made a fritata with veggies and egg. I think I will have to experiment with some herbs and spices because it was ok but not delicious and I need the food to taste really good.
I have since had another 500ml and a small mandarin mid morning. So far so good, not hungry and no headache.
Will keep updating. |

Rep Power: 3 | | | It's the end of day 1. I was feeling fine until about an hour ago when I started to get a headache. Now I think I will take painkillers and go to bed.
Drank almost 3 l of water.
Foodwise it was a good day. I have to keep going, however tough the first few days are.
Will post again tomorrow. |

Rep Power: 12 | | Hang in there through the headache. Once it goes, it'll probably be the last you have for quite a while! That's the good news!
Sounds like you're really focussed and planning well, which is great!
Once you're a week in, your body will really have "thrown it's worst" at you, and after that it starts to get easier. |

Rep Power: 3 | | | Thanks guys I really was feeling tired and quite crappy last night. I went to bed at nine thirty which is really early for me. The only prob is that I have an 18 month old who is not sleeping thru the night so I am not getting a full night's sleep. But I have to get tough with her. I am going crazy.
Also my DH made a comment last night. He saw me making supper and he said something like it's going well now but let's see in two months. He says he didn't mean anything negative and it came out wrong. But I got negative vibes and I was quite p-ed off at him. But it's inspired me to be extra strong and do this. I guess in truth, he has seen me go on so many diets with no real results so I can't blame him. I will do it this time tho.
So today I woke up and I didn't have a headache. It's been a good day so far. Its almost 3 and I have already had 2 l of water.
I did do something I shouldn't and that is stand on the scale. I know I shouldn't but I can't help myself. How am I going to get out of the habit? I will be going to get weighed weekly as I was offered that option. I know how discouraging it can be to weigh with no loss. So I will have to try not to weigh, because I don't want to get discouraged.
Will update later. |

Rep Power: 12 | | Our poor men - the things we put them through! I'm lucky because it was my husband who first suggested I look at Cohen's, so he's been extra supportive right from my first journey. But over the years, the things he's had to suffer from me diet-wise! Anyway, he knows when I stick to this, it's definitely the answer, and he's all for it, which is great!
The only thing about weighing too much is it really does your head in (well, speaking for myself). I can't bear to weigh more than once per week. I just have a plan and I stick to it. It's Friday morning, out of bed, clothes off, weigh and measure, no matter how the week's been. I can't bear to wait any LONGER than a week though, so it's always exactly a week. But... there are some people who weigh daily to little effect, except the wailing at the fluctuations. I really go downhill mentally when I see that daily yo-yo, so I don't do it. Weekly gives me the best idea. Even if I know it's fluid, I can be in a bad mood for DAYS over a weight fluctuation. |

Rep Power: 3 | | | It's almost the end of day 2. Another good day. I had almost 3 lit of water. Food as prescribed. No headache tonight. A little bit tired, but not majorly.
I am not really hungry except when it gets close to the five hour mark. So I feel good.
Just one ? for the experienced ones - does it matter when you drink water? I have tried to get in the 2 lit by after lunch and then some more in the afternoon. But not too much at night. I have two cups of peppermint tea at night. Otherwise I think I will be up peeing the whole night and I need as much sleep as possible with an 18 mo who doesn't sleep through.
Good night e/o. |

Glad its still going well for you!
Dont worry about the people around you with negative comments! A lot of the time people dont realise what their words can do to some one! Its not always meant to be negative! Also some people we are close to get scared when some one is trying to loose weight as its a massive physical change, and they worry it may effect the persons personality and so on!! I know i will have this problem with at least 1 friend of mine! She will find it hard that i am loosing weight and she isnt, and she will try and tempt me with goodies and so on! I just remind myself that it is HER insecurities taking control of her!!
The water is harder than it looks isnt it! lol - But its great to drink loads when your hungry, as it fills the belly a little bit! Its great you can drink peppermint tea.... i cant stand the stuff! lol
Speak soon!!

Rep Power: 0 | | Hi Sue! i stared Cohens 2 weeks ago and i'm loving every second!! This must be the first diet I've done where I've not starved myself and nearly killled myself at the gym and still seen NO results however now after 2 weeks my clothes are loose my energy levels are up and i feel fantastic! geez never thought i would already start getting compliments my friends i saw 2 weeks ago saw me yesterday and we're shocked at the rapid progress which gave me inspiration to keep going strong! When you can get some rest... i know things must be hectic with a baby but if you get sometime relax and be kind to yourself! That's what i've done and it's really helped as i was nervous before i started not knowing what to expect but took it day but day
A our men had the same thing... did not want to tell my bf i was doing Cohens as i knew he would be negative but when he started seeing the results i silenced all my critics bf and friends included as they would normally say ah nic another diet... You just hang in there cause i know you going to do it!
Chat soon ciao! |

Rep Power: 3 | | As i live in Joburg, about ten, maybe more years ago I heard about Cohen's diet. At the time, Dr Cohen himself was giving talks at a nearby hotel where he would present the ideas and science behind the diet. Effectively a long lecture about hgh etc. You had to phone and book a place to attend the talk and then arrive and pay a small fee. Which I duly did, there were about 300 people in attendance. He gave the talk and I was interested but never went further because at the time I didn't have the money to spend on the diet. Also I had been swayed by the idea that rapid fat loss is unhealthy. So for the people who doubt his existence, I have actually seen him and heard him. (I read on some other forum that people doubt his qualifications and whether he is a real doctor etc).
I have seen people lose on the diet but my biggest fear was the small portions and the idea of quick loss= unhealthy and putting it straight back on. But I have come to the realisation, that whether it is this diet or any other, unless I change my mindset, I will stay fat forever. Unless I learn to eat less, which Cohen's can teach me, I will regain the weight when I lose it. Also I do have insulin resistance and unless my hormones are balanced, I will never lose weight, especially if I eat carbs and sugars which are allowed on WW for instance which was my program of choice.
It's almost the end of day 3 for me. I am feeling great. Not hungry at all. It's half past ten now and I will go to bed soon but I am not exhausted. No headaches thank goodness. Tomorrow will be a bit of a test as the weekend is approaching and I am having the family over for dinner tomorrow night. But I have soup that I will eat quietly in the kitchen before they arrive and just say that I have been eating the whole day if anyone asks me why I am not eating. I haven't told anyone about the diet and don't intend to. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
