Rep Power: 0 | | | Does anyone else feel really cold on cohens? I have been on cohens for 6 weeks and struggle to drink my quota of water because I feel really cold. I have a jacket and three jerseys on today! (mind you, i am in NZ!) lol.
Any ideas please people? |

YES!!! I feel cold too!!
I am just finishing Week 2.
I guess this is a part of losing our layer of warmth!
Also, I find on days that I get my blood pumping with some exercise I feel warmer, but the whole exercise thing on Cohens, ya know, if you didn't before, don't now as it will just make you hungry.
I drink my water at room temperature, or you can go up to body temp as well, so add a little boiled water or something, and it is just as good. Still, it is hard to get to 3L per day.
Drink more herbal tea?
Grab a Wheat Bag or a Hot Water Bottle?
I have been having a hot shower before bed, because that is where I feel the coldest!
Looking forward to hearing some more suggestions. |

Rep Power: 79 | | | Heya Welshie, where in NZ are you? (Im in waikato)
I had a think about the being cold and I recall seeing it somewhere about. I googled and came up with hypothyroidism. Which also is a reason you can gain weight. Have you been to a Dr and got the usual checks?
Anemic people get and sometimes stay cold. Some people lack iron. Some diabetics get this way as well. There are various reasons why you could feel this way. I'd advice a Dr visit perhaps just to make sure.
Could be nothing! (i would hope so!) |

Rep Power: 59 | | I think most people, including me, really felt the cold whilst on Cohen's. Drinking more hot drinks seems to help & it all settles down again when you go on maintenance. Mind you fat does keep you warm but I would much rather wear thermals! Cheers, cate |

Rep Power: 85 | | Just to add - it is not just the folk on Cohen's...
I feel the cold a lot more and blame the water drinking and losing the layer of fat. I think that it is part of losing weight with healthy nutrition (which has to involve adequate hydration). |

Rep Power: 6 | | I am constantly freezing whilst on Cohen's!
I found that it is the amount of food I am eating that causes the temperature loss. If I eat non Cohen's or more food I get warmer and sometimes feel hot (I have only done this before on my old program). Food is the fuel for your body and due to the lack of it on Cohen's and the fact the program is forumulated to eat up your fat stores your body is working at that rather than using the energy to burn and keep warm (think of your body as a fire and food is the wood).
So dont stress out about it I have heard most people feel cold whilst on the program and you will reeturn to normal once on maintainence. Just do as the others have said and eat some soups, have some warm drinks and rug up (and dont forget the socks).

Rep Power: 79 | | | If you are raising your metabolism by eating correctly, then you would be warmer, not colder. |

Rep Power: 85 | | I eat correctly (yesterday's data: cals 1540, protein 117.5, fibre 47.6, calcium 1067.9, sodium 2169) - but drink my water straight out of the fridge. Even in maintenance I am currently drinking 2.5 litres a day as my weight is slightly high due in part to water retention.
My husband is always complaining about me wanting the central heating on when he doesnt. Mind you - his BMI is still 57 so he still has his layer of fat to keep him nice and warm. Like Cate - I would prefer thermals.... |

Rep Power: 0 | | I live in Southland (southern NZ) so it is still quite cold here (we had snow last weekend!) I wear thermals, etc, etc and still put my hotty in the bed at night. WHERE IS SPRING?? I add some hot water to my water bottle to make it easier to drink. I also drink cups of hot water throughout the day. I guess that feeling the cold is not a bad side effect, but I want to show off my smaller body, not wrap it up in layers!! lol. |

Rep Power: 0 | | As for seeing the doc re: Hyperthyroidism, I have been checked for all sorts and i'm afraid that i am a bit of a too hard basket case! I have bad arthritis in my legs and back. I only got diagnoised four years ago and ended up having a full hip replacement two years ago and now waiting to go in to get my other hip done. This is partly why I am doing cohen's. I need to loose the weight to feel better about myself and to stop the progression of my arthritis (doc's seem to think it is due to my obesity). We will see! |

Rep Power: 11 | | Being freezing seems to be most people's experience on Cohen's and any other regime that results in loss of fat layers. I've been the same both times around, and have met others using different systems like Sure Slim that say the same thing. Just wear extra clothes and don't worry about it! It all sorts out at the end, but just remember, you are shedding that polar bear layer of fat and your body has some adjusting to do!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Yeh wishes. I agree it has been too cold here this spring. I am looking forward to endless sunny days of summer to show off my new body! I am glad that everyone has the same issues though, it is always good to find out such things. Thanks for your replies guys.
Omega, I know that this is a not only cohen's thread, but I just wanted to know if people on the same eating plan had the same effects. Have you been doing a specific diet or have you followed your own eating and exercise plan?
I have found cohens to have good results (I did it because I couldn't do the exercise) but I have found it really hard going. Today I am at week 8 and have lost 14kgs. I am really pleased with myself, but feel emotionally drained. Is this something that anyone else goes through with loosing weight? |

Rep Power: 59 | | Welshee, I think most people who lose weight successfully find it emotionally draining or challenging. We also have to change the way we see ourselves as well as get used to the attention. I also think feeling the cold would apply to most people who lose their fat layer. It does settle down when you're on maintenance & eating more food. Cheers, Cate | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
