Talking New to Cohens

Hi to everyone,

I have been on the Cohens program since January 18 and in the first 4 weeks lost 9kgs!!! I was very pleased with that considering I have 2 family BBQ's and an overnight stay in a luxurious Sydney hotel, with the buffet breakfast!!!

I am very interested in new recipes and reading all of your great results. It keeps me going.

Started at size 18-20 and 97.7kg
First weigh-in size 18-16 and 88.5kg

For example, for lunch today I ordered a grilled baby snapper without the accompanying potatoes and with double the portions of vegetable and salad. The fish came with a garlic oil sauce and stir-fried carrots and french beans...both off-limits on Cohens!!! And it didn't strike me until a few mouthful of beans and carrots

I hunted around a bit this morning and found some restaurants with potential salad options and a couple of japanese places I can dine at. However, does anyone else have any other tips?
With every meal, I imagine the weight lost with so much effort creeping back. I think I'm getting obsessive but believe me, I'm so totally not enjoying these forced deviations.

Hi,
I've just returned from 2 weeks in Europe, in the freezing cold at business events for lunch and dinner! So, my tips are
  • try to order salad rather than vegetables - much more likely to be approved food
  • carrots and beans are better than potatoes and bread- its all relative. If you cant get the veges you need, then still eat veges rather than getting hungry and eating bread!
  • watch your portion sizes. Make sure you don't start eating until you are hungry, because then your "full" signals are also much stronger. Stop when you are full.
  • Try doing some exercise to compensate for the additional food you are eating.
  • Remember that its only for 1 or 2 weeks. If you think its a total disaster, then you will feel justified in consuming a bottle of wine and 6 desserts. If you feel that you are doing your best in a difficult situation, its easier to maintain focus and choose the foods that will be best for you.

Go ISparkle

Irene

You are so close to your goal weight - that is so fantastic......and your BMI is less than 25 -isn't that condsidered a healthy weight range ........well done.(I think overweight starts at 25 - maybe I'm wrong)

2.9kgs and you are there...................

I can't wait to see your ticker move - how often are you weighing yourself this close to the end???

Sharon

Hi Char

Gee your goal BMI seems low - is your goal weight the one set by cohens or are you hoping to go lower????

Well done on the 6.8kgs in 4 weeks - that's great..

Cheers

After a few days back on Cohen tell us how big an impact it had on your progress. For me 2 weeks in Europe didnt cause any weight gain, actually 3 days after I was back on Cohen I was 1KG less than before I left for Europe (whilst I would have lost 3 had I stayed home and ate Cohen).

Yep Sharon you are right. BMI between 20-25 is considered normal and healthy.

I'm weighing myself daily now as I'm so anxious about getting to my goal and I'm not sure when I should begin refeed (which I have at home hidden away). Do I wait until I get to 57kgs or do I start at 59 or 58kgs?

I'm scared about this journey ending and losing my way and packing the weight back on.

your right

Hey Losing: you are right I had my bmi set to english which is in feet and inches silly me ah well not far off being in the healthy range though.

To the people enquiring about Chai tea i asked my consultant about it today as well and she said No to having it, I havent had it on cohens but I have had it before and it is nice though!!
Well Having struggled in the past 4 weeks I have reset my goals and asked my husband to give me more help. As he does split shifts its not until he goes to work in the arvo that I start feeling like other foods and I tell you the mind struggle is amazing and yes I have deviated!! My husband told me not to buy him and our daughter any chocs chips etc in the shopping (OMG how good is that) very nice of him coz he and our daughter love choccies and 2 I am going to set myself smaller goals, I usually set monthly goals but now I am going to set weekly to goals so that i can get through the week without deviating, I am going to write them down and organize them so then if i deviate I have to ring up and cancel etc!!! Fingers crossed this is going to work for me because I really want to finish this cohens and be a healthy person. My husband is also going to text me every now and then to make sure I am not getting into anything and I am positive by the end of next week I will be back into it and not missing those bad foods, and by the end of the 4 weeks I will be in my 70's which I dont even remember being in that weight range at high school and that was over 15 years ago
Anyway thought I would blurt out the stuff on my mind, I feel great since going to my consultant who I must say is a very wonderful caring and supportive lady and my thanks go out to her for her continued support.
ok ok I am going now LOL
everyone keep posting I love reading them and it takes my mind off other things.
chow for now

Hi char,
I am exactly the same. the minute i am at home alone with the kids, if they want junk, i want junk. that is why those terrible fundraiser chocolates were my downfall. anyhow. gotta jump back on the wagon. i weight myself every few days at home. it motivates me. so this morning i had lost 8kg but probably put one back on with taht junk!!! is it unrealistic to hope for 10kg by weds??

anyhow. know how you feel char. lets work with each other and tally how long we can go without deviating???

lose on...

tanya

Heyfatty: U can sooo reach the 10 kilos by wednesday as long as u stay focused. When I deviated and then got back on the wagon i lost 4.5 kilos in 5 days I was quite shocked, so stick with it and u will reach it. I weigh everyday LOL some people say its not good too but I like too and if I havent lost anything I am not too fazed where as some people freak out, like my friend who is also on cohens. I need to get to the end of refeed so I need to refocus as my lovely wonderful dad paid for my cohens and he told me that if i dont do it to the end I have to pay him the money back nothing like tough love hey!! And I AINT paying back the money LOL I still might give him half coz I am such a lovely daughter to him LOL.
Anyways Stick with coz the more u deviate the harder it is (believe me I know) U CAN DO IT!!!!!! Sorry hope it didnt carry on too much!!

Char

Isparkle OMG that is so great to have your refeed!! Only you know wen the time is right, if you are happy with your body now then do the refeed if not wait a little bit longer. I am sure u will make the right desicion. And if you stay focused on ur refeed and after I think you will handle it well (you got this far didnt u)!!
Anyway all the best hope it all goes well for u
