Rep Power: 0 | | Are you taking a multivit Ezzy? Chocolate contains magnesium, which helps calm us down and the likes.... I caved in and had a square of choc last night.. it was that or bite my husband's head off. I then washed it down with about a litre of water lol
I'd drink lots of water, get on a good multivit, and remember tomorrow is a new day |

Rep Power: 59 | | I have always had a problem with constipation & had been warned by my consultant to be careful. She had suggested having an apple a day(keeps the doctor away!) but apples made me too hungry. What I have been doing is having a heaped teaspoon of Metamucil powder(Lemon/Lime) in water 1st thing every morning with my vitamins( have taken 1000mg capsule of Omega 3 Fish oil daily for years-+others) before I eat my breakfast. This makes me go after breakfast & always works. I drink 3-4 litres of water every day. Not sure which is doing the trick really, so won't stop any of them. ezzy- On any given day almost all of us would crave something. I cannot look at a glass of red wine on tv without thinking, "mmm that looks nice".
Try to think why you want to lose weight. From day 1 in this forum I have taken a saying & changed it around & if I am ever thinking" ooh that looks nice" I just say to myself- Nothing tastes as good as being slim will feel.
I picture how I want to look & that gets me through. You have to really be ready, really, really want to become slim & then be prepared to stick with what's required to get there. If you're not ready it would be way too hard.
Is it your TOM-that may be why you are craving sweet things? Do you have your cut up fruit portion handy that you can spread out during the day. I make a fruit salad of mango, honey dew melon & kiwi fruit (all weighed & the equivalent of 2 fruit) & I have a spoon with in it in the fridge & make it last during the day. This satisfies the sweet thing for me. I love mangoes now & am dreading when they go out of season.
Ezzy, I hope you can stick with it. Know that there's lots of support in here. Cheers, Cate |

Rep Power: 0 | | Um.....can't remember who posted about the kiwi fruit skin, but that is also another one i do.
At first i thought there was no way that I could eat the skin, but i gave it a shot and it wasn't so bad. I don't even peel them anymore. I have 2 a week but this week there was only crappy oranges and no nectarines etc as my second fruit option (first one apples) except for kiwi's so i'm having kiwi's every day this week.
And on the water front - my booklet from my clinci says 1 litre of water per 25kg of body weight. I'm having a min of 4ltrs at the moment, but most days it is around the 5ltr mark....
Hope everyone is having a great day! |

Rep Power: 59 | | | Ezzy- I just had a look at the "More allowed foods" thread & in there KristyB has a copy of her last email from her consultant. In this it mentions Chromium for sugar cravings as it helps to balance sugar levels. Check to see if your multi-vitamin has it. I had been advised by my consultant to take the Blackmores slow release multi-vitamins. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Ezzy - another thing that may be helpful to you that my consultant recommended is the Blackmores 'Sugar Balance'. I haven't had to use it myself because i'm not getting any cravings, but she said that it is a great one for overcoming the chocolate craving (which being a chocoholic she thought i might need to get through).
Keep up your great work. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | ok so day 2 almost over and it was hell those sugar withdrawls are really kicking in. It doesn't help that my mum has become semi retired and decided to become Betty Crocker with all her cakes and shit, and now she is doing Thai cooking classes so there is always Thai food in the fridge yum! I spent all day today op shopping (one of my fav hobbies) to keep my mind off of it and managed to find a vintage yves saint laurent clutch for $6 (real!) very exciting! anyway not a good season for cohhens, there seems to be a poor selection of fruit going at the moment I can't find netarines or peaches anywhere! but I have found a love of kiwi as well, they are so sweet they help curb the sugar cravings!
anway have a nice day everyone! happy losing xx |

Rep Power: 0 | | Ezzy, in ur account settings you can edit ur signature, that is where you put ur ticker code and anything else you want to add, there should be a separate thread for it somewhere in the forum.
Don't feel too bad about the chocolate, it won't kill you, next time you reach for it though, think about how bad you felt this time and ask if it is really worth it, I agree with the others when they say you need all the chronium you can get, my consultant sells vitamins at the clinic, they are expensive but the have a 70% aborsption which is much higher then any others you can get. I am not sure what they are called as I am at my boyfriends house but I will let you know, perhaps that could be an option. Another good idea I have taken on is to microwave an apple with some cinnimon. I know it's not chocolate buts its yum, I always crave chocolate around that time of the month so thats what I do. Another awsome thing to do is to get some palmers coccoa butter or some yummy smelling body butter and go to town with it, lather it all over urself, it smells awsome and for some reason it helps me when I am craving something really naughty. Flavoured shower gel helps too, I use a shower gel that is called buttercream frosting- its amazing I feel guilty using it sometimes!
hope this helps xx |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hi everyone Hi everyone, and welcome to those who have made the best decision to join Cohens. Hi Vanessa, I know you said you are having a hard time with breakfast especially eggs and yogourt. I really love my poached egg on top of my favourite crackers- Finn Crisp Original Rye Crackers(made in Sweden) oh so filling and I feel like I'm eating a piece of toast. In terms of the yogourt I add the tiniest of drops of pure vanilla extract with vanilla flavoured splenda(I bought vanilla beans and split it and added it in a container with the granular splenda-the one that measures spoon for spoon to sugar and then some cinnamon. Sometimes if I'm going to be running around during the day-when time seems to fly by I'll add frozen mangos to the yogourt in the blender. Nice cold vanilla/cinn flavoured desert, although it doesn't seem to satisfy me like the egg.
Speaking of frozen mangos. Cate We can buy frozen mangos here, and I recall some people in Australia having a hard time finding them. If they're in season there why not freeze them. When you freeze them you need to freeze the chunks individually. I had cubed a mango and put it in a container and froze it and when I went to get it, it was one huge lump. Next time I'll cube it and place cubes individually on a baking tray and freeze. When frozen then place frozen cubes in a ziplock freezer bag. Hi Lexie: In regards to the bowel thing. Try taking aciphodopholus capsules. It's the live pro biotic bacteria found in yogourt. Don't be afraid to take 2 capsules at the beginning instead of 1 (3x daily with meals)to jump start your system. Buy the one with the most # of bacteria and that needs to be refrigerated once open. Walmart carries it in the vitamin section or go to a health store. We also have a product here that's called Senakot. It's a natural laxative pill made from Senna. I think the slimming teas have Senna in them. Hope this helps.
Things for me are moving slowly. I was losing about 1kg a week and this week I only lost about 500gr. It could have been the smallest amount of chocolate I gave into this past Easter weekend. Saturday was my B.Day and then Easter Sunday and all that chocolate=my favourite. I still did better than I thought considering. My husband and I brought our own food to our families homes Good Friday, Easter Sunday and then my neices B.Day on Easter Monday. With the exception of the little bit of chocolate I had, we did well. Although now I'm craving it like crazy--PMS'ing but I didn't cave in.
sorry for the long post--Cheers to all and can someone tell me what LOL stands for--I think it's lots of love but not sure.

Rep Power: 0 | | Yummymummytobe, LOL stands for 'laugh out loud', though your version does sound nice. Re the vanilla, I'm pretty sure it's not allowed on the plan though you might like to double check that. Cate, re the lemon/lime metamucil, this too I would check, I know we can have the capsules but not sure about the flavoured drink version.
Gosh aren't I putting a downer on things. To my knowledge the slimmers tea, metamucil caps, psyllum husk, benefibre, and coloxyl with senna are all okay to have when constipated. Recently when I was feeling extremely constipated I took a combo of Benefibre, metamucil caps and a couple of coloxyl with senna, eventually things moved and all seems well at the moment. It seems to be something that does hit many of us down the track rather than earlier on. Good luck with it Lexie.
It is great to see some of the people who have been on the forum in the past back on regardless of the cause of absence, just the fact that you have come back despite weight gain (or not ) is significant especially to many of the newbies who might be discouraged if they go through similar situations. All is not lost just because you've deviated. Deviating is not a failure, failure is when we don't get back on the plan and give up. Nans, so good to know you're back on your feet, it will be interesting to see how your weight went due to the illness.
