losing is on a distinguished road
Hi there

It is a shame - as I know this forum spurred me on too....

I am losing 5 kilos that I have put back on over the last 5 months. I did allow it to happen as I had a saggy skin, but now I have made the huge decision to get that skin cut off my belly.

2006/2007 was the year of shrinking (27kilos) and 2008 is get fit for the surgery and that is exciting.

Some of you may remember me - I'll pop in over the next few months and let you know how I am going.

Best of luck

Losing

Hi Sharon

So sorry to hear about your weight gain and impeding surgery........but it is good to hear from you. I have hang around this forum since completing Cohens and I too have gained since finishing, my heighest weight gain was 9kg I have since dropped 5kg. I have another 5 to lose to reach my refeed final weight.
I must admit it is a daily struggle to keep the weight off. And I have a diary now which helps me stay honest to myself.

I often wondered about you and Fatcat - and Di78 didn't comeback. I hope everything goes well for you and will look out for your posts.

Take care
Sam

Hi Guys,

I don't get much time to come visit here anymore, too busy!

But I had a little time tonight and wandered around reading people's posts. I'm always amazed at how overall positive the Cohens Community is.

I think it's the second best thing about finding the programme. (The best is not being the size of a killer whale anymore!)

Good on you all.

Have a VERY merry Christmas. Remember, There's another xmas next year. Don't be tempted to deviate, I mean, is one day really worth jeopardising your programme?

Garlic Prawns with Salad is a great Xmas Lunch! Especially for the Aussie contingent.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop by and say hi and wish everyone a very merry...

Hi Asy, A very big Merry Christmas to you too & to all the Cohen's extended "family". Thanks for your visit! You would have to be one of the busiest little Cohenites about, I think. You are right about Cohenites being a positive bunch. What a great opportunity we have all been given. I love Cohen's & what I have been able to achieve this year. 2007 is going to go down as a wonderful year for me & I could not have done it without the support I have found in these forums! Cheers, Cate

Cohens Menu in Brisbane

Hi all

Just a quick message to anyone from Brisbane or visiting. I have found a restaurant which serves a Cohens menu specifically.

The restaurant is called Get Hooked and they are in Oxford street- Bulimba.

And yes it is called Cohens.

Bye

Sam

Back Again!!

Hi there,
I am a returned veteran of Cohen's - and yes, a year and a half after completing Cohen's (I started in February 2006, back in the original thread on this forum!!), losing 15 kilos and getting down to a size 8-10, I have finally admitted to myself that I need to do it all again......I am now bigger than when I initially started and have 18 kilos to lose So angry with myself right now for getting back to this weight, but I know that I can do it again!!
This forum, (back in the day!) was a fantastic support network, and I can't believe how much it's grown!!! I'm hoping there are still some great supportive people on here who can help to get me back on track!
Looking forward to hearing all of your journeys! xo
Tasha

Hi Tasha, This is a supportive forum still. I would have been lost without it. Things change- new faces(me & others) but we are all in here for the same reason. I would be interested to know how you put the weight back on. I know that sounds like a silly question but I am wondering if you relaxed after a while & old habits came back or other reasons. This is for purely selfish reasons as I am 4 months down the track from finishing re-feed & I think I & others all might benefit from your hind-sight. All the best with re-focussing & any help I can give you I am more than happy to, cheers, Cate.

Life's Good is a splendid one to behold
Welcome back Tasha...

Having recently finished refeed myself I have realised just how much harder the challenge to keep the weight off is than losing the weight. Even sticking to the guidelines and and certain circumstances just making the best choices possible it has played havoc but to think that you are returning to Cohen's to get the weight back off gives me faith that the program works. I know after trying and failing many other programs I have ended up vowing that they just dont work and therefore have moved on to another but I too have faith in the program and the guidelines and I really think for me it's going to come down to having that same faith in myself!

I wish you the best of luck in you new journey and hope that we can offer you the support and motivation here that will help you get there.

Have a good week and thank you for being so honest with yourself and us!

Lauren

Why I'm fat again....

I think that I honestly just got cocky!! I know that it sounds stupid, but I really just relaxed way TOOO much, and everything I ate, I just thought, oh well, I can just go back on Cohen's for a week and lose it....that's easier to say when you've only got 5 kilos to lose, but over the past year and a half it has (to my devastation!!) crept back up to being 18 kilos to lose
Definately slipped back into my old habits, too many carbs (I'm a sucker for rice, pasta and potato!!) too many sweets (ice cream and ice magic - what was I thinking!!) and eating too often and huge serves......all a recipe for disaster!! Started eating a lot of bread and milk again, which I swore I'd never do after Cohen's - it is REALLY easy to slip back into old habits - all I can say is to never let it go above 5 kilos to lose....... Have also had an extremely busy year, which makes it hard to keep control of eating habits.

I will get there again though, I remember so well what it felt like to be so skinny and not constantly pulling my top down over my muffin tops!!!
I have refused to pay out another $600 though, and am living in the outback, so there's no clinic to 'pop' into......will need you guys to help be my conscience!!! xo

Hi Tasha

Thanks for that... I really needed to hear it! I have spent the last week in Sydney (haven't updated my diary yet but will explain more in that) and can appreciate how easily it can be done and I'm only a few weeks out of refeed let alone months...

Your honesty is so appreciated and again I thank you...

We are here for exactly that reason. It's so nice to have somewhere to come to know you wont be judged, just listened to, helped, guided and appreciated.

This forum has been a lifeline for many of us and it's always great to see the main thread revitalised!!!

Better go and update my diary!

Lauren

Welcome Tasha

You can count on us for help. I have gained and lost since completing refeed. This forum keeps me focused. And the people here are wonderful. I gained close to 9kg but I have since lost 5kg and I would like to lose another 5kg....but this will be my new years resolution and introduce and exercise regime.

I am just trying to keep the Principals of staying away from carbs most of the time....easy said I know but it is amazing how much weight comes off by just cutting the carbs.

So good luck Tasha. Have you thought of opening up your own diary?

Take care

Sam

Thanks for support!!

Thanks heaps for your support Nans68 and Life'sGood, is great to see that there are still some brilliant people on here!!

Will have to look into the diary thing (it's all got a little more advanced since last time I was on here - especially with those moving emotions thingos - we didn't have them!! )

Well, I've nearly made it through day one, have stuck to it 100% but damn that container of cashews and that beer in the fridge is looking good (another reason for putting on so much - alcohol - drinking too many premixed drinks full of sugar, and then eating too much greasy food the next day...... )

Hard to resist at the moment, given it is about 40 degrees where I am.....I will be strong though!!!!

Tasha, Thank you for letting us know. I really appreciate it & I'm sure we all appreciate your honesty. It is reassuring that you have decided that Cohen's is the way for you. I know it helps me to be aware of limiting how many kgs to vary. I decided 3kg's was it for me & I think I'll stick to that. It is much harder keeping the weight off than it was losing it. Losing weight on Cohen's is black and white. Thanks from me & cheers, Cate. PS I'm glad I hate beer!
