I watched a bit of telly yesterday and noticed when the food commercials came on, my instant reaction was to go to the fridge or pantry. I didn't follow through because i knew i wasn't hungry but i never noticed that television had that effect on me before. Interesting huh?

Well I had my 1 month blood test last week, it came back with everything OK, which is good.

However, due to moving and life being in turmoil this week I fell off the wagon for a three days. I didn't put on any weight thank goodness and was pretty good despite all the carbs I ingested.

Tomorrow's a new day and it will be full steam ahead without any deviations until Christmas day, three weeks away on Monday.

Still aiming to below 100 for 'the big fat red fella'.

So here's to renewed momentum, our new home, life settling down and all my christmas shopping done AND wrapped.

Happy shrinking all

Talking Wow!

OMG!

ok, i have just read thru this thread (altho i skipped many pages in between coz my eyes started to hurt ) AND i even registered just now so i can say how awesome ur weight loss is! i am just so astounded at everyones committment, even those of u who have 'deviated' (ur 'deviation' is how i hav eaten for most of my life!). i would say that the weight loss reported by u all is miraculous, but i dont think its right to imply some heavenly intervention, when it is YOU that are losing the weight, YOU who have changed your life and taken control. so for that, CONGRATULATIONS!

corny tho this may sound, im really feelin motivated right now after reading ur success stories. just researched cohens, and there appear to only be two clinics in melbourne (mildura and geelong) and i dont hav access to either
not sure wat the next step is, but i need a serious overhaul of my lifestyle so i can hav a life! LOL!

thanks so much guys, u really r inspiring! keep up the good work, i hope i can become a regular in this thread !

Well you can start now by getting 1/2 way in to "Cohen" by starting to eat Cohen like see preparing for Cohens .

I know nothing about Geelong or Mildura clinics, it is unfortunate that the Melbourne clinic closed down and nothing else has taken its place. But I am sure you wouldnt be the first to call from Melbourne who finds it difficult to travel. The reality is that you only need blood tests done, which can be done in a Lab in Melbourne, the rest could be done with phone and/or email.

The daily simple reality of Cohen is that you will be eating 3 small meals per day of carefully weighed foods from a clearly defined list of ingredients, with some fruit and crackers. The difficulty is fighting old habits, others expectations, planning and "exercising" self control.

Get motivated, get commited, take action. I dont know why I spent 10+ years being fat and then suddenly got motivated like am to become slim and trim, why did I decide at 39 years old and not 29? Taking action is "taking action" if someone in your family was going to die tomorrow unless you somehow got to Geelong (73 KM) would you stop everything to do it? Of course this is overblowing it, but my point is that if you are that commited to losing weight then taking a 1 hour train trip from Spencer Street station one morning to Geelong wouldnt be an obstical. I have been to Geelong a number of times and to the best of my knowledge no trolls tried to eat me , if you have some disability that prevents travel then give them a call and see what they can do to help.

Hi Lessfatty,

Maybe its something about facing the 40's head-on that makes us take action! I'm also 39. Mind you, I did attempt to lose weight several times in my 30's, and put most of my weight on in the past 5 years.

But for me, I wanted my 40's to be a time when I look great, and have energy, so that I can do the things I haven't been able to do in my 30's with young kids - career, activities, etc. But my weight was preventing that - and possibly leading to an untimely death in my 40's! So, it was the spectre of the big 40 that partly led me to action.

I think when you are in your 20's you always have time later, but when you are about to hit 40 you realize there is no more time for later; it's now or never!

Suz there are a few of us living in and around Melbourne that are with the Geelong clinic. I only went in the once and that was for my info session, on a Saturday morning, everything else is done over the phone except the blood tests as Lessfatty said, so don't let that stop you. It's well worth that initial trip.

Isn't it strange I am also of the same thinking 40 is around the corner and I have spent most of the 30's trying to lose weight. Well I have definitely reached my crossroads and feel if i don't gain control of my weight well I never will and I really want to be their for my kids and their future and vanity also plays it's part I want to look and feel good again and not be self concious because of the weight.
Sam.

Clinic locations

SUZ,

Here in the States...we don't have a clinics..so all of us are doing it via
e-mail. Works out great...so - if you just have to take one long trip for the initial visit..and then communicate email- do it! Or maybe you can just start off email only.

I have just finisdhed week three and have lost 17 lbs..that would be 7.7K ...I believe

Hey Suz as Lonniecee said there are other melbourne girls on here that don't go to the clinic. You can do it over the phone and email. And you will get support on this forum. What part of Melbourne are you from?

Lessfatty, heavenly lamb and nan68 - good to know that i'm not alone. I too have been dieting all of my 30's. I turned 38 back in June and made a consious decision to lose the weight for good befroe i was 40. There must be something very special about this milestone. Well done guys for doing something back life before life takes you and me for that matter!

Well just to update everyone - my boot is still on but but but it will come off this Friday for a smaller ankle guard - thank goodness. The docs are worried about the bone that was bruised so deeply that it is still sore today. So they have given me strick instructions on what to do and not do (if anyone has any extra patience please email it to me as i could do with lots right now). Weightloss is still going well but my confidence is lacking because of not being patient and wanting everything to be ok now!! Yes i can hear you, i will be good and take it slow, i have not choice my kids are on holidays as of Friday and they will tell tales if i do anything i'm not suppose to do (including shopping).

Keep you the great work you are all doing and if you must deviate do it with cohens!!!!!!!!!

Cheers Jewls

Week 5

I have been following your posts all along and thank you all for the wonderful inspiration and ideas! I have used so many of the ideas and recipes. My husband wants to do this so for now until we get the $$ to sign him up I am just adding a little to the quantities I am allowed. It's such a great lifestyle change!

I now have lost 24 lbs and 17 1/2 " overall. It's so nice to wear some clothes that have been in the closet for a couple years! I can't wait to be done but still have over 50 to go!

Do any of you long timers have advice on the long haul? Does it really slow down?

Yayyy!

Dear all,

I'm happy to announce that I'm officially below 70 kg now! When I stepped on the scales this morning, I'm 69.8kg! This means so much to me especially I have been working so hard! Hardwork definitely pays off. It may take a longer time but hard work does pay off!

I was clearing up my wardrobe and packing up clothes for donation today. And when I was folding those old clothes, I told myself to never ever go back to that size ever again. It's really scary how big I was and I never really knew how big I was until I saw my old clothes. I'm keeping some of my old clothes to remind myself never ever to go back to that size again.

On the flip side, I discovered the old shirts and shorts that I could wear! I never could wear those clothes but now I can wear them!

I'm treating myself to a movie tomorrow with my friend. I'm so looking forward to it.

I have just 5 more kg to lose before I pick up the phone for my refeed. I can't wait for that to happen. (But thinking about how long it will take me to lose that 5 kg is such a spoiler....sighs...)

But anyway, hard work does pay off! And when it does pay off, treat yourself well! Don't give up and keep on trying. Have enough sleep and think positive!

Big huggies for all!
