Brieziel IchooseLife and heavenly lamb thanks for your helpful suggestions. I'll let you all know what I decide, at least I have some different ways of dealing with it now.
BAM I know of a few people who get to that "comfortable " stage. A suggestion I thought of, (which btw I'll probably have to use later on) is if you have a photo of yourself at or around your ideal weight, put it next to a photo of yourself now, and have a visual reminder of the difference 10kgs can make. Anyway, sending you good vibes and looking forward to seeing your goal weight piccies in the very near future
Does anyone make use of the Cohens newsletters found online at their site? They have some very motivational stuff, plus recipes.

Hi Everyone,
Well finally a drop in weight.....which will probably be gone tommorow.
woke up 3.5 kg down from starting weight...feeling good...drove off to work and totally forgot my breakfast.

Got to work, and as usual a table full of chocolate. Managed to not touch a single morsel. Had alredy drunk 2 litres of water on the way to work so I felt ok. Had my "breakfast" at 1.00pm! Because you are not meant to skip meals I shortened my "Lunch' and only waited 4 hours. Back to normal for dinner tonight. Will probably affect my weightloss but I'm just trying to make the best of it.

Came home with a CARLOAD of choclates.......swapped half already with other reps which is good. Going visiting tommorow, so hopefully most of what is left will go then.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Myshy

'nother newbie

HI Everyone

just wanted to say that this is my second day on Cohen's, and apart from a slight headache, things are going great.

Not only is it my second day on Cohen's it's also my second day at my new job, I started at MCDonalds yesterday it's not too bad, i'm too darn busy to even think about eating the food. Although it has been handy being able to buy a garden salad when I leave, and then I just weigh out the amount i'm allowed, throw out the cherry tomatoes, and cook some chicken or whatever and add that to it.

I'm a bit worried about my first early shift tomorrow. i'll have to eat brekky at 4.30am, then lunch at 10am after i've finished, will i have to eat dinner at 3pm

you all seem very successful on the program
thanks
MrsMc

yoghurt

hey everyone!!

now if anyone's like me, and isn't mad crazy about yoghurt but are still eating it, guess what?

Yoghurt is proven to shift tummy fat. The high level of calcium helps lower cortisol, a hormone known to increase tummy fat.

I read it in last week's New Weekly, but did a net search and found it's true.

Bon appetit for breakfast!!

question - eating after 9pm

So my consultant, and my guideline book both say try not to eat after 9pm.....just wondering, does anyone know whether this means meals, or everything including fruits and crackers?

Cheers
Pink

Mrsmac - Welcome! The 5 hour rule means you have to wait a minimum of 5 hours between meals. You can go over that...for instance you don't have to eat at 4.30pm tommorow - you can eat at 6pm if that suits you better. The salads at maccas are great for a standby aren't they. If I am really stuck I'll buy one - beats caving into junk food.I don't know how I would go working with fries though - they are the best when they have just been cooked! I work for Cadbury which is bad enough.

Pinksultana - I was told to eat my meals before 9pm. Nothing was said about fruit/crackers. Last time around on the diet I often ate a piece of fruit & a cracker around 10pm. Not sure if it's a hard and fast rule - maybe someone else knows for sure. If in doubt - ask your consultant.

Leni - thanks for the info on yogurt. I'll be eating that a little more often I think!

Myshy

p.s I forgot to say hello to the other newbies on the forum....Hello & Welcome

Flavored Coffee

Hi All,
I have not written in a while but I have a question for all you experts out there. I love coffee and used to drink it with milk alot. However, on Cohen's, I have switched to black and have been dealing with it. Well, I am dying to have black coffee with a flavor to it such as French Vanilla or something. Not a coffee drink with something added but actual buy the beans that are flavored and I was wondering if this would affect my weight loss and if anyone has tried that. I think I am at a point that I need something to look forward to and I thought this could be it. Does anyone have an opinion about this? On the package at the grocery store it says naturally and artificially flavored but does not list sugar or anything in it.

Thanks!

eleni_chrys thanks for the tip on the yoghurt. I usually eat it on alternate days, so I'll keep that up for sure. Now I just need to work out which food shifts it off my butt.

LucyQ, in my program it says we are not allowed to have Vanilla flavouring, so I don't think flavoured coffee beans would be allowed. I would check with your consultant
Pink Sultana, I was told not to eat anything after 9pm, including fruit and crackers, by my consultant.
Myshy, maybe its worthwhile keeping some breakfast type food at work - some yoghurt/ fruit, so that if you get caught like that you can still eat something. Otherwise its a long time to not have any protein.

Hi everyone,
day 1 is done, and I'm down 1.5kgs. I feel like I have just picked up where I left off and I am feeling terrific already. No headaches or anything. I am beginning to believe that this is the way my body wants to be and these are probably the foods I should always eat as I feel soooooo good.
Thanks for the info on the yoghurt, I don't usually eat it, but might try some, my tummy is my worst area. First to gain weight and always the last to lose it. Does anyone have any advice on which yoghurts are the nicest and any ways to eat it to make it taste better. I like flavoured yoghurt, but not too keen on plain yoghurt.
myshy, how on earth could you manage to bring home a carload of chocolate and not eat any. I think I would refuse to bring any home with me!!
LucyQ, probably best to check with your consultant on that one. I wouldn't have a clue about vanilla beans etc. Sorry.
Good to see everyone is still going well. Have a great day all. Talk to you soon.

RJM I found the Vaalia Joghurt the best. It only comes in the big tubs in Coles. Safeway sometimes have the smaller tubs. I have also tried Tamara Valley which isn't bad. I now prefer natural yohurt.

Hi everyone and welcome to all the newbies,

My ankle is healing well, still bit sore and swollen but hopefully i will get my boot this weekend and be able to weight bare on it soon.

I had a really really bad day (not food wise) yesterday and was willing to through in the towel on everything. Everything just got to me ~ the ankle, my weight, not desparately wanting a teaching job (not happening), being told i must of deviated (sorry still an issue for me) so I cried all day.

I know this program works but i'm very impatient and breaking my ankle has set me back with what i wanted to do over the next two months.
I have dreams that i put all my weight back on.

Can anyone tell me (for those how have or are about to finish) if you found the program hard to do for a while once you reached the half way mark.

On a lighter note today is a new day and even though i'm still a little sad i know i need to keep going, that my ankle will heal and that i will make it to refeed. Does any else ever have doubts about finishing this? Is this feeling normal?

I'm really sorry to be so low but i don't have anyone else to talk to about how i'm feeling. I hope everyone is having a great day. Drink lots of water.

Jewls

Mrs Mac I'm kind of day two today too. Had the omelette for brekky which is yummmmmmmmmmmo.

I had my first hurdle to overcome last night. I needed to open some smarties and there were no other adults in the house to ask to do it so I did some positive affirmations about how this isn't deprivation but yada yada yada and I opened all six packs, put them in to their bags and threw the packs away all without touching one single tiny little smartie. Feels like I took a HUMUNGOUS step forward in that one little mental battle. I know it's not for life, I know that day by day I'm changing my life for the better, I know this isn't a diet but rebalancing my body so I can live a balanced life.

Today I feel like I have chosen life and that 60kg will just fall off!

jewels mega hugs to you.

Wow look how much you've lost so far.. what an inspiration to me who is at your starting point.

I don't know what it's like to get half way and plateau, but I do know what it's like to look your dreams in the eye and feel them slipping away. So all I can say is get back on the horse, find yourself a good motivational book/movie/poem/affirmation or whatever it takes and fill yourself with hope, rewrite your dreams out daily focussingo n them and go gettem girl.... and everyone's allowed a down day.... grab your crackers and water, curl up on the couch and watch a good movie or three, stay in your PJ's all day, read an uplifting verse or poem or affirmation, then tomorrow hug yourself and move on
