Thanks. And yes you are right, mashed cauli goes well. I had the tuna mornay from the cohen's web site and it uses mashed cauli instead of mashed potato and it works really well.
Skinny hugs

Rep Power: 0 | | Still got my mojo goin' on!!! Ata - mashed cauli makes the perfect topping for shepherd's pie too! I think you guys are allowed to mince up your meat, puree a little tomato with some water and spices for sauce, use the remainder of your veg allowance as mashed cauli and serve on top of the mince. YUM! (I had this 2 nights this week already )
Okay everyone - it's been 48hrs since my weigh-in and I'm still on track YeeHaa!!!! I've started to think about rewards for my efforts. Here's what I've got so far...
75kg - Getting my bottle of Angel perfume refilled. Hoping this will co-incide with Valentine's Day
63kg - Easter challenge - Will do my tax return and treat myself to a day at DFO and some retail therapy (I'll need a new wardrobe by then) Goal - Haircut, new makeup, new clothes, new shoes (definitely) and a new lease on life!
Anyway, I have 2 challenges in the foreseeable future. Tonight hubby is working late, so I'll have to avoid the temptation to snack the night away. I'm pretty sure I'll be right though. Tomorrow I have a bridal shower. Luckily the buck's is on the same day so I'll have my baby with me and won't be able to drink or head to the pub with them for dinner. It's at 3pm so I'll have my 2nd shake before I go, arrive a little late, busy myself with bubs, then have to come home when he gets tired and needs his nap (usually around 4-4.30ish) - so that should prevent any unnecessary snacking there too!
I heard about the Biggest Loser Exercise DVD today. I'm thinking about heading to the shops soon to check it out. Apparently it's a 6 week plan so it gradually builds up your fitness etc. Sounded interesting anyway. If I'm serious about losing 15kg in 9 weeks I need to do some exercise too or I'll end up a big sack of icky skin
Well keep thinking thin!

Been readin g your diary and congrats on the weight loss, great stuff, I too started following Cohens from a friend because it's unaffordable at the moment. Can you give me a bit more info on the 8sec/12sec exercise bike routine.
thx

Hayley hey hey | Hi Hayley hey hey,
Firstly congratulations on making an effort with your health/weight. I want to stress though that you need to be VERY careful following someone else's plan. Your friend will be getting regular blood test etc that ensure she is remaining healthy through the program. The foods on her plan are based on her body composition - and yes while the plans all seem similar there are differences - eg. Some people can eat chicken twice a day, others only once etc. It is highly likely that your weightloss will slow right down or you may even start packing on kilos just following your friend's plan.
Rather than follow my friend's plan to the letter, I took inspiration from it. I cut out all the bread/potatoes/carrots/peas/corn etc. I ensured my meat portions were roughly what her plan suggested. I have since learned that a female should have approx 120g of protein in a meal (for weight-loss) which is about the size of your palm. I didn't measure my vegies much, but rather only gave myself enough to fill me. I also stuck to eating 3 meals 5 hrs apart, 2 fruits a day, 5 crispbreads a day, and no mixing proteins.
I have since found the Tony Ferguson diet, which works on very similar principles to Cohen's but works better for me in my current lifestyle.
As for the 8s/12s thingy - that is simply high intensity interval training. I have to confess I have not started this yet. I got on my exercise bike for 5 minutes at normal speed and was exhausted. So it will be sometime before I can work up to interval training. But basically you go flat out for 8seconds then rest for 12 seconds - repeat this for 20 mins. My sister has started doing this jogging/sprinting on the spot and says after it she feels the same as when she plays a really good game of basketball.
Good luck with your efforts - but please be careful following a plan that is not designed for you.
Cheers,
Linda |

Rep Power: 0 | | Weigh-in day! (but it's TTOM so beware...) Well it was weigh-in day today. I lost 0.5kg & 1cm around my belly. Not too bad considering TTOM started today. I didn't deviate once all week so I hope that next Wednesday my hard work this week is reflected in a doubley large drop on the scales.
Speaking of TTOM... Don't know how you ladies all fare, but I have found that my moods are seriously bad without caffeine and chocolate to take the edge off Yesterday I was in such a mood that I decided we were selling our house! Fortunately hubby knows me well enough to know I'm too lazy to do all the work involved in getting the house ready to sell, so he just told me I'd have to find somewhere else for us to buy first. Might give that some thought though as I hate our feral neighbours.
Isn't it just typical - my first week where I haven't gone off the rails even a teeny bit, and AF rears her ugly head to prevent me from having an awesome loss on the scales. Damn that Murphy's Law.
Oh and I'm completely over Terry White Chemists. Turn up for my weigh-in today and they announce that for hygene reasons I would have to keep my shoes on from now on. Now I'm a bit of a short-ass at 165.5cm so I tend to wear big chunky wedge shoes to work. They would weigh a good kilo on their own. So needless to say I told them where they could stick that new rule. Luckily the girl there saw sense and didn't fight me on it.
Then I head over to the counter to buy my shakes. 15 mins later I finally get served, only to hear that they are 'out of stock' on 1/2 the flavours I get. WTF???!!! How do they sell out of something that is so popular. It has a shelf life of over a year. You'd think they'd be keeping plenty of stock out the back. Morons.
So after all that I've decided that I am going to go back to weighing myself at home on Wednesdays. I haven't decided whether to hide the scales on the other days or not. Hubby has a thing about weighing himself every day so chucked a tanty last time I said I was hiding them.
Well it's been a bit of a ramble today. Better get cracking on cooking dinner. Today it's mango chicken curry with 'rice' (ie grated steamed cauliflower).
Keep thinking thin people!
Cheers, Linda |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Here we go again... Well if falling off the wagon was a national sport - I'd be an Olympic Champion! Went to a wedding 2 weekends ago, and haven't been 100% on my plan since then. I've had up & down days, but none that haven't involved some form of deviation. Then there's been the chinese, chicken & chips, Flake Shake etc.. not to mention the KFC or as hubby calls it "Fatty Fat-arse Chicken"
So here I am today - exactly 9 weeks before we head down south for another wedding. Here's an interesting fact - there's 9kg for me to lose until I hit that 'oh so covetted' HEALTHY WEIGHT RANGE!!! So is this merely a coincidence? 9kg in 9 weeks is a highly obtainable goal. I think it is a sign - a sign that I am to throw my leg over the side that wagon... hang on - screw the wagon - I'm gonna throw my leg over the damn horse itself! It's time to take control of this ride and do this once & for all!!!
I've done up a calendar counting down the 9 weeks until we go away. So I can cross off each day as it happens - I'll do a tick if I'm good a cross if I deviate - that way it will be plainly obvious if I'm putting the effort in.
I have also put up pictures of me as a lardarse on the fridge & pantry with a little note reminding myself that if I eat whatever it is I have tried to sneak, i will look like a 9mth pregnant lardarse forever. So far it's working...
I haven't put on any weight over the past 2 weeks, so I'm pretty happy with the fact that once I'm done I've nearly got a handle over what my body can and can't tolerate (happy to say I can have a salad sandwich at lunch with no dire consequences ).
So here's to yet another start. And here's to it being the last start.
Happy days to you all - and keep on thinking thin!
Cheers,
Linda
PS I've attached a pic of me at the wedding 2 weeks ago - not looking too bad I don't think - but still 18kg of improvements can be done! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
