Question

Hi all

I'm about to start Cohens early next week and really like the idea of kepping it under wraps.

I have tried lots and lots of weight loss programs and have recenly lost around 10kgs through low GI diet and exercise but that has taken months and months and I am losing patience!

How do you keep it a secret though when you need to be so particular about your food? Especially when you are out lunch or dinner with work collegues? That is going to be my biggest challenge!

Juna

Hi Juna and welcome

Hope you are still around and will get this. I told everyone I was on a Doctor's medical diet........and if they wanted me to elaborate further I would say it's for raised sugar levels (diabetes) as my excuse, which really isn't lying
because it is in my family. Use something which you know is in the family like high blood pressure or preparing to start for a family. Or just keep to it's a medical plan for personal reasons.
Hope all is well and continues.

Hi Sam

Thanks for the good ideas! I am one week in today! So far so good - I have lost 4kgs - I know I'm not supposed to wiegh myself but I need to for the motivation. I am also measuring. But I am still hungry - especially at night and am beginning to miss other food - everything looks good at the moment!

How much did you loose and how long did it take you? If I lost 4kgs per week I could definately stick with it but I know that wont last and its going to be so hard with all the christmas parties coming up!

Hi Juna

4kg in a week that is astounding. I started Cohen's last Xmas (06), 2 weeks before actually. I was going to wait intially for after the festivities but I felt that if I waited for the new year I would be having to lose alot more kilo's.......so I took the plunge and started early. I lost 6.4kg in my first month and less each month there after I completed refeed in March 2007 with a grand total of 15kg those last 3kg would not budge to make 60kg but I was happy enough with between 65 & 63kg.

But unfortunately...... (if you have been reading my diary), my weight has slowly been creeping up again over winter so I am trying to lose a few unwanted kilo's again. I have accepted the fact I will always have to manage my weight!!!!! it doesn't do it by itself.

So I now understand that if I do overindulge the trick is to cut back on all carbs and exercise.......don't let it take over or before you know it all that weight has reappeared and the other trick is to drink lots of water.

Cohens is one of the healthiest and quickiest weight loss programs I have ever known and completed successfully......minus the exercise.

Goodluck Juna.

I also figured they were all probably tired of my going on about another diet and so when I lose the weight I WILL REVEAL ALL.

It is hard not telling my sister though we are so close and I hate keeping things from her.

ANYBODY OUT THERE NOT TELLING ANYONE ABOUT COHEN'S?

All the best

Sam

I'm also keeping my cohen's plan a secret. The only people that know are my mum and brothers, I think that they are going a little crazy hearing me talk about the plan and probably sick and tried of me pointing out how baggy my clothes are getting.

Everyone else knows I'm doing something and think its weird that I weight my food to the last gram! As far as they know I'm doing my own thing. In the past as soon as they know what plan I'm doing, I start getting all these horror stories of what could go wrong, or how unhealthy it is. I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!

So, for now I will keep this a secret! Don't know about later?!?

You will shout it to the world once you have completed refeed.

Remember it's okay to bore your family members that's what their there for....hehehe and who cares as long as your clothes are getting looser.

I have also kept Cohens a secret from most people. Ive told my fiance, as I need his support and my mum. Like Herm i have IBS and im Lactose intolerant so I have a few "reasons" up my sleeve for when ppl start asking how I have lost the weight.

In saying that, im sure im going to be so thrilled with my results that ill want to sing Dr Cohens and my consultants praises so no doubt ill end up divulging my secret

I have also kept it a secret, it is getting a little harder now that I have lost 12kg and also when people ask you around for dinner.

I only told my husband, mum and best friend. As I really love their support as it helps me.

I tell people that I am on a medical diet to loose a few kg before I have my back operation to help with recovery.

I did tell some close friends the other day, but they kept commenting on why can't you just have a little it won't hurt, they just really don;t understand. But that is fine, they will be so jealous when I get to my skinny me by my 30th b'day as they have always struggled with their weight. Maybe they will be more intersted when they see how I succeed. If you really want something bad enough you will stick to it matter how hard it might seem at the time.

I do look forward to my 30th in Nov, when all my friends who don't know and I have not seen for some time, see the new skinny fabulous me!!!

Hi Steve

I started this thread when I first started doing this weight loss program and the reason was that I had been on so many diets through the years as most have here and I felt family and friends were sick of me intorducing a new diet to them everytime they saw me....they were tired of hearing me and so was I. So when I found Cohens and researched and payed, signed and started it I didn't want to sabotage it for myself so I decided to keep it a secret until I had lost the weight. Which I did then I revealed all. Cohens was a fantastic weight loss plan for me it was strickt and I found the weight falling away very quickly and the results were fairly instantanoues. Hope this answers your question aswell Dougheyes728. And if you are interested in this plan click on the link I posted to yellow and that will give you all the info.

No, I'm certainly not interested in something strict..... but I do appreciate you taking the time to answer.

Thanks very much.

Smile keeping cohens a secret

YEP!!!

We had a lady at work who did some weird NO carb diet, for three weeks she was a moody cow and we all commented on how what she was doing was just not healthy. Now that I am doing cohens I am trying really hard not to tell them, they have noticed but I don't want them to know aobut it as they will think its the same as what the other lady did.

I've also found that people just give comments like "once you finish you will put it all back on again and more" etc etc.

Its just not helpful. So I am not telling people, if they ask, and notice food I'm going to tell them I have cut carbs and processed food etc out of lunch time so that I can have a balanced dinner - it will shut them up. To throw them off the scent yesterday I told them I was having creamy mustard chicken for dinner - I was, they just didn't need to know it was a cohens meal!

If people ask how the weight is coming off so well I will tell them that I am less stressed and being careful at lunch.

I will only tell the positive people who asked me how I did it if its because they are thinking of trying something like I did, all those superior people needent know.

I'm SO glad I found this thread!!!

I've only recently decided to start Cohen's for the first time. I haven't had my blood test etc yet because I'm about to go on a short holiday and the consultant said it will be best if I start AFTER that break, so I'm not tempted to deviate in the very first few weeks.

My boyfriend's Mother recently lost over 25kgs on Cohens, and a family friend lost 25kgs a few years ago on the program also (and has kept it off)... which is what made me start researching it for myself - secretly.

I only have 12-15kgs to lose and I just know that a lot of people would think I'm silly for spending $750 for a program which a lot of them seem to think is designed for people with larger amounts of weight to lose, and I also don't want to steal my partner's Mum's "thunder" either, if that makes sense.

I've been putting aside a bit of money each week to cover the cost so that my partner won't know I've paid to start the program, and I have told him that I'm going to be seeing a nutritionalist soon to recommend a diet to help me with a hormonal imbalance. I feel bad lying to him, but if I told him I was doing what his Mum did, I know he'd most likely think I was silly.

He doesn't know the struggle that I have with food and my diet and subsequently with my weight. My binges have almost always been hidden from him and when I've trimmed down previously, I've managed to keep it a secret that I'm trying to lose weight. But I don't want another quick fix.

This is going to be a turning point for me (because I've decided it will be). I want to break my life-long yo-yo cycle. I want to get back to the weight I feel happy and healthy at (and where my clothes all fit me!!!) and I want to stay there.

Coming up with a "cover" story is the only part I find hard. I feel terrible telling my boy half truths... but this is something I am doing for myself, and I sort of feel more comfortable keeping it TO myself

I think that's one reason I have sought out this forum. I think support is a wonderful thing, and reading the experiences of others and being able to talk about it freely and without judgement or negativity is WONDERFUL
