2007 - The year of shrinking Pumpkins

This is a diary of my progress, a way to keep myself accountable.
I intend to post my weekly results (yes I know, once a month it is meant to be, but I can't keep off the scales on a daily basis, so this is a good compromise I think).
I have mostly struggled in this first week of Cohen's, but am hoping it gets easier over time.

Started Dec 27th, 2006.
Today, after one week, am down 3.5 kgs, despite a bad night on day 6. Have to be pretty happy with that. Measurements nothing spectacular - down 9cm, though 6cm of this is off my bust!!
I certainly don't feel any smaller yet - just rid of the Christmas overindulgence.

I'm going to stick 100% for the next week - week 2. Hoping to see good results soon.

I'm so glad I found this forum - full of lovely supportive people. Thanks to all those who have made me feel welcome.

Hi Lily!

Great to see that you have got your diary up and happening! Try not to persecute yourself too much for Day 6, 3.5kgs is fantastic anyway!!!

Good luck on this journey, cant wait for us to be at goal...

wow thats a fantastic loss for a starter. though dont get too used to it. The first couple weeks you always loose a lot of retained fluid etc.

Stick with it, you're a winner!

Hi Pumkins

Well done so far I started Cohen's on the 11th Dec and weigh in Tuesday.
I know I have lost because of my clothes fitting much looser.
Cohen's is such a simple forumula and if you stick to it 100% the results will speak for itself.

I have only had one minor deviation day and that was xmas.
So keep the faith and keep weighing[your food that is]

Sam

Thanks everyone for your messages of support.

Nans68: Great going - how your clothes are fitting is what it's all about. Looking forward to hearing your weight loss results.

envigor8 - I have found each day a struggle in some way. I still have hunger, and urges to eat what I shouldn't - especially in the evenings. However, the first 3 days were the worst for me.
The main thing is to be really organised with your food. And in case you are worried about drinking all that water - that definately gets easier. Even after such a short time, I have lost that full bloated feeling, and easily get through my 3 litres a day now. Still running to the toilet all the time hee hee.
Coming on this forum helps motivate me, so hopefully that will help you too. If you have any questions/concerns - ask away. The people here are friendly and encouraging and someone will know just what you are going through. Good luck.

Lily

Hi Kim,
Thanks for asking.

I'm afraid I lost the plot, halfway through week 2. Haven't managed to get myself back together since.
I'm really disappointed in myself, and feel really pathetic for not even making it through 2 weeks.

I'm heading off for a weeks holiday tomorrow, so I'm hoping the sea air, and some good quality time with my family, will help. I'm not going to attempt to go back on Cohen's while I am away - I need routine to succeed, to get into the zone. However, I'm not going to go silly and put back on that 3.5 kilos either.

For me at least, Cohen's is really hard. Not much to eat, not much variety. I really didn't think it would be that way.

But now I know what to expect and what I have to do. And I know it will work if I stick to it. Watch this space. I will be back here in a week or two. And I am bl*$#@dy well going to succeed!!!!!! I will be svelte and gorgeous by my birthday (in May).

Lily/Pumpkins

PS. Congrats Kim - I see by your ticker that you have lost 8kg now. You go girl!!!

You got though the 2 worst weeks, it just gets easier, seriously! Whilst you are away spend some time looking at yourself in the mirror and consider making a better plan for sticking with and keeping on the program. Then when you are back focus on your planning!
For me there is variety of meals that I can prepare in 3 weeks you wouldnt have exhasted all the possiblities.

Whilst you are away, make a little meal plan for a entire week; think about all the things you can cook. Also try your best to follow the Cohen diet foods avoid staches and fatty foods, can you eat a yogurt or omelet breakfast. I find pre-cooking and freezing for work lunches works well, as well for emergencies during weekends, always just 3 minutes microwave away from somthing reasonably OK and 100% cohen. Some prepare and freeze raw vegetables.

For me a flat day today, not a bad as yesterday afternoon, but I am not at work so everything seems better if I am not listening to complaints all day.

Its hard I know but the results are worth it, 35KG is a lot of weight for me to have lost and I am really feeling good about the results, eyes on the prize pumpkins, eyes on the prize.

Hi Lily,

Sorry to hear that it got tough for you that second week, hun. Dont worry, I know exactly where youve been (remember my 2nd week?) and I honestly can say, jump back on the horse when you get back, stick to it for a week or two and it becomes so much easier. You can do it...Hope you had a great holiday!!!

Cheers,
Kim

I'm back!!

Thanks Kim and Lessfatty for your advice and messages of support. I really do appreciate them.

Well I've been on my holiday, and despite not going silly with the food, I have put first week's weight loss back on. I know why - eating bread and drinking alcohol. But that is the past. Today is a new day, and I am back on Cohen's. This time I am going to stick with it.

I am fully committed to staying 100% on this program for the next 4 weeks. Those of you on the program a while, tell me it gets easier after the first 2-3 weeks, so I at least owe it to myself to stick with it for 4 weeks and see if I can work through the hunger etc. 4 weeks is surely doable?! Hopefully things will go as planned, and it will be working the way it should be by then, and I can set myself another short-term goal. Baby steps for me at this stage.

I really really want to lose weight. I have a horrid photo of me taken at the beach as extra inspiration. I'm trying to make a fail-safe environment for myself. And with this forum as well, I am going to do it.

Thanks.
Lily/Pumpkins

Hi Pumpkins

Wecome back. It does get easy I am 2 weeks away from the 8 week weigh in and I am not experiencing any food gravings.

I have just made a lamb curry for the family and I am not even tempted.

Once you get through the detox and on to week 2 - you will do fine just remember to drink your water and treat yourself with some nice fruit mango, peaches etc( if that is on your plan of course) and remember to have that diet drink when you feel a sugar fix and my weapon in those early weeks when you do get hungry is chew the gum.

I find I don't even need it anymore so persevere and it will get easier and once you feel your clothes getting looser that will motivate you even further to not want to deviate.

Remember we are all here for.

Good luck

Sam

Thanks Sam. I really do appreciate that.

I am so embarrassed by my early failure - so much so that I almost didn't post again. Then I thought - heck, you Cohen's regulars are all so nice and supportive, and I really need to be able to have contact with people who know just what I am going through.

I intend to catch up with all the posts I have missed over the last couple of weeks. I'm sure reading about all the successes - such as yours Sams, you are doing so great! - will be great motivation. Then maybe, in time, I can help others the way this forum is helping me now.

Lily/Pumpkins

PS I really do hope these hunger cravings go away!!!

Hi Lily,

Welcome back, so glad to see you

Please dont feel embarressed, so what, you fell off the wagon, big deal! Well I suppose it is a big deal if you dont come right back and give it another go, simply cause you will lose weight and you will lose those cravings as time goes by and it would be a shame to miss out on that!

I totally know where you are coming from, I have had two major deviations (just in my first month) and I felt so pi$$ed off at myself for being "weak" and not being able to stick to the program, when everyone else does. Its no good being so hard on yourself cause it just sets you back more. Hun you just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and give the program a couple of weeks, I know it will just get so much easier!

Good luck and cant wait to see your before and afters!

Hugs,
Kim

Hi Lily

Great to see you back here...

I'm back on my program after a month off it. I have been on it for 5 days now the cravings are slowly subsiding. Last time I started it stayed on for 109 days with no deviations. When I did deviate for a whole month I felt sick horrible and tired. Thankfully I didnt put the weight back on.

But the good news is that the cravings do go away. I too make delicious meals for my family for special treats and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. However on the days when I think that I wouldn't be able to, I make them eat a variation of what I am having.

I never posted before, but I'd stalk instead. This time I felt it's my second chance and if I can help others afterall their inspiration has helped me to get back on this horse then I should do so.

All of these women and men are doing great jobs. Don't be hard on yourself. Don't be disappointed just realise that we are all human and to err is to be human.

I look forward to reading your upcoming posts.

Faithie.
