Hi there everyone,
I went on the Cohen plan about 5 years ago, but am seriously considering going on it again. Have an appointment with a consultant next week and will take it from there.
This plan is the very best plan ever! It is easy to maintain the weight afterwards if you just make the effort. I kept the weight off for a long time, but put most of it back on due to eating for 5 when I was pregnant with my 8 month old son
Its all my own fault, but its a new year and I am determined to put that behind me, and be a slim trim wife and mom again.
I'm really glad I found this forum and look forward to chatting with you all
Hi Stargazer! Welcome back on the Cohen's bus. It's such a great program isn't it! How much are you aiming to lose this time around?
Oh and you said that it was easy to keep off when it's finished, I'm not far off refeed myself and I'm really curious as to how my body will react to different things. Did you cut things out all together? How did you with drinking or with eating out? What about starchy carbs? Sorry to bombard you with all these questions but I'm soo nervous about putting it all on again!!
Anyways, it's great to have you here and I'm looking forward to hearing about your journey.
Thank you MellyP - its so nice to find a support group like this.
I want to lose about 35kg this time. Last time it was much more (53)
The refeeding is done so scientifically. My body didn't react badly to any of the foods because its done so gradually, however when I reintroduced bread, I picked up 100g the next day, so I had to go back a few days on the refeeding plan, when I got to bread again, the same thing happened, so I try to steer clear of bread. Didn't happen with potatoes or pasta funnily enough. When I was pregnant though I craved strawberry jam sandwiches which explains the HUGE gain.
I didn't cut anything completely out my diet. I don't eat bread much ordinarily, so only have toast really when we go out for breakfast. I still ate starchy carbs, but never last thing at night.
As for the eating out - they give you a whole set of tips at the end of the refeeding on how to eat when you are out or on holiday. Tips like having a piece of cheese before your dinner or before you drink wine (something about the chemical compostion - I can't remember now) ummmm - you can only ever eat cereal at your midday meal - no more cereal for breakfast which was easy for me because I always eat fruit and yoghurt for breakfast. Tips that were pretty easy to incorporate into your life.
I kept it off for a long time, and would still have been at my goal had I not completely pigged out during my pregnancy
I still have a bit to go to get to my goal, but am at least over the halfway mark!
I'm so glad that you have posted some great information on what happens after Cohen's. My mother keeps on insisting that I will go back to old eating habbits and be a big fat blob plus more in no time... over my dead body!
Hi Stargazer, That is soooo good to know thankyou thankyou ! I thought I would never be able to eat pasta or potatoes again, not that I ate them much before but I thought they would forever be gone as an option. I have a feeling bread will do the same thing for me too. But I don't think I will miss it anyway and probably only every have it when out for breaky like yourself.
Really interesting about the cheese before wine! Probably cos it's a protein... who knows, Cheese and wine are a great combination!! LOL
Thanks again for the info I soo appreciate it. I look forward to hearing more about your new journey.

. Hi Stargazer
Welcome back.
And thanks for the great info I am also close to refeed and it is nice to know what foods can be introduced and also that it is manageable to keep the weight off. I'm worried like Mellyp about gaining it all back. And because I can feel those hunger pangs which signal your close to refeed it's concerning me especially when I would like to lose more. Thanks again [COLOR="MediumTurquoise"]
