Smile My second time on cohens after having a baby

Hi Look this is my first day I am putting in for my cohens log. I successfully did cohens the first time around and am looking forward to losing the weight the second time around. I know I can lose the weight it is just the fact that I will need the support and help from friends going through this with me. I have now stopped breastfeeding my bub she is now 12months old and I feel this is the time for me. I am feeling confident and am really getting a good vibe from reading everyone elses success stories I am so proud of everyone they are doing so well!! I just hope that now I have made the decision I will have the same strength to keep going like you all are..

Hoping to be lighter soon!!!
Jodee

Hi Jodee

Welcome - there are a number of cohens ladies with babies around the same age on this forum, and everyone is so supportive here - you'll love it.

Look forward to watching your ticker move down

Hi Jodee

Welcome to the Cohen's party. Yes there are a few mum's here which is great for support, just having other's who understand the reason's for your up's and down's while doing Cohen's is fantastic.

Just remember if you have any concerns or there are times you feel like throwing in the towel turn to us here and we will hopefully talk you out of it.
I was saved that way several times by the gorgeous people here.
So never fear we are here.
Good Luck and remember in no time you will be leading a weight free lifestyle.
Sam

Hi Jodee,

I'm not doing Cohen's, but I am a mum to a 12mth old! Congratulations on making the effort to put you first. I don't know why that is so hard for us Mum's to do - but it seems to be a pretty common problem

When did your little girl turn 1? I'm just recovering from the binge that was my son's 1st birthday party. I'm following the Tony Ferguson diet, but like to come here for the support as everyone's so nice and friendly.

Good luck with your journey. I look forward to seeing your ticker slide across to the skinny side soon!

Cheers,
Linda

Thanks guys for all your support!!! And I have only just started... Day 1 over without a hitch, a but of a caffene withdrawl headache but its cool. My lovely little girl actually turns 1 on Feb 25 so she isn't really 1 yet but I spose I just get used to my older girls and counting the years by. The tony fergusons program is great as I said in another thread my mum and sister have done it and achieved great results.

I think that with caring about everyone else and me feeling so flat made me realise that I spent too much time and effort into worrying about everyone else that I forgot me so this is for me now..

Day three and having really vague moments

Well day three and I have been feeling really vague, but I know it will pass. I feel I am doing really well went witha friend shopping today and I walked past all the really nice smelling food and really didn't feel anything. My family are great have to get hubby to stop asking me if I want a beer. I was so blessed by my 6yo today asking me why I want to get skinny and I told her that after all my babies I just put on more and more weight so I don't want that weight any more and she replied with "But mummy we love you how you are!" That was so sweet! It made my day. I am getting even more determined now as I have a friend who has had banding surgery done and she is struggling to lose her weight. I want to show her that weight loss can be done without the drastic measures she took. Her problem is not having any won't power!!! "I won't have chocolate cake, or I won't have that take away". SO BRING IT ON!!!

Hi SUnflower,
My children were the same initially. But they began to get excited when they could start getting their arms all the way around my waist, and when I tried on my fat clothes, with them in there as well! (at the moment, I can fit myself and one child in my old skirt, soon I'll be able to fit both!)
I also take photos every month and show them the progression of the weight loss to show them how much better I look.
Now they are excited!
HL

Hi Sunflower79

Before i started Cohens my 5yo asked why I had such big arms and my 7yo said at another time I should be on the biggest loser......I gasped I said surely you don't think I'm that big.
My boys hadn't really noticed the difference's in people's weight until i made it so. My boys have different body types as well my 7yo is lean and athletic and my 5yo is of a heavier build and doesn't like much activity so i am conscious of him as he grows to set him on the right path in good eating patterns-so I feel it is my obligation to lead by example......now i just have to work on the hubbie.
I think when you lose weight you mentally change your outlook to life I know I have - i'm more out going and talkative, before I used to think people are only noticing how big I was and i wasn't worthy (it's silly it's all perceptual).

Keep up the great work you will be so proud of yourself and what you have achieved in such a short span of time. And when your clothe's are hanging off you well that is what it is all about.
Good luck Sunflower79 ............... you are on the path to skinny Sunflower forever.
ATB

Well today is going well I am less vague and am not having too much trouble sticking to the diet. I am really happy, I have promised myself that I would only weigh myself now once a week until week 3 then I will only weigh once a month I am taking my scales to my friends house so I can't just do it at any time. It is going to be 40+ deg here today so my water won't be a problem. My girls are very happy for me I want to set a good example to all three of them that a healthy lifestyle is what is important. I want them to see that healthy choices are what the body needs. I hardly buy them takeaway but I still let them know that anything is ok but only in moderation. I hope I can stick to this I really do want to lose this weight forever now....

Jodee congratulations on your decision to get back on the Cohen's ride. Our kids are certainly motivation (and the cause occasionally) for us to lose that weight. During my last major weight loss effort back in 1999, my youngest was nearly 7yo and didn't want his mummy to lose any weight cos I 'wouldn't be able to give good cuddles anymore'. Proved him wrong but lost the plot after 8 months and 28 kg, put it all back on of course. Now at 14, he is very proud of his Mum. Both my boys are, and I too have noticed a difference in my attitude and how I feel when talking to their friends, I'm not the fat Mum anymore, I'm more confident and assertive, probably less self concious about 'are people looking at me? What are they thinking?', that sort of rubbish that is a very real part of being overweight and not feeling in control. Good luck.
Lauren

I am going to weigh myself tomorrow and will just see how that goes Nah I know it will be good I haven't evendeviated once. Light Bulb Moment! :D

If you want to get your daughters involved positively in your weight loss, and you intend to weigh yourself once a week.
then maybe you should make up a chart ' biggest loser' style and every week when the biggest loser has a weigh in - thats when youll weigh in too!

Caroline xx

Starting Weight: 99.7KG (17/11/06)
Ticker updates...
24/11/06 (1 wk) = 94.5
15/12/06 (4 wk) = 89.7
12/01/06 (8 wk) = 84.1
09/02/06 (12 wk) = ??
09/03/07 (16 wk) = ??
06/04/07 (20 wk) = ?? HOPEFULLY AT GOAL WEIGHT!!

Hey great Idea!!!

Thanks Caroline

That is absolutely fabulous and a great idea, I think I will do that so at least my girls can be actively involved. They will love it they love charts. I am really scared about tomorrow my dad goes in for surgery to remove a bowel cancer. I am going in to give my mum some support. I am taking my lunch with me and a few crackers, and my fruit. I am goign to stay strong, as I know that as an emotional eater at times this may just be the hardest day for me on cohens. I am trying to stay positive and at least weighing myself in the morning I will be able to go around for the rest of the day knowing I have done so well and lost kg's. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me and keep me in your thoughts.

Thanks

Jodee
