How to make this forum better?

Let's hear 'em folks - what ideas do you have to make this forum a better place - what are some things you'd like to see -

not everything is possible, but if it is - we'll entertain the idea...

What would make this a better experience for you?

I'm sure I'll post in this thread a few times.

For starters, I don't think it should be associated with one particular diet, such as Cohens. I don't really understand the rational behind that unless the admin get's some kickback from it.

Increase the length of PM character limit.

Increase the post length limit.... not many go beyond the limit but I do on occassion and it drives me nuts having to divide my posts up.

Give an IQ test before joining.

1. hiding post counts
2. dumping reputation levels - it really doesnt mean anything anyhow
3. limiting ads for weight loss products that we wouldn't support the use of on this forum (ie I cringe evertime I see the Hoodia ads)
4. Improved searching capabilities - or a better faq to teach people how to search (yeah, I know write one Mal it drives me crazy when the same question gets asked over and over again.

have the harsh truth forum be "more moderated" -- there are a lot of threads in there that really don't belong in there and aren't be answered by the 'experts'

give 'expert' status to people and only they are allowed to answer the questions and questions asked in there should be approved first otherwise the can go into a general forum.

How to give expert status is a trick i haven't figured out - are they an expert because i said so? that's the challenge.. we do get a lot of wannabe experts in here that really aren't even close..

I really like that idea.... it would warrant better attention and advice I believe.

I don't venture in there often. I figure is someone wants my advice, they know where to find me.

Great ideals Steve I love making the PM longer I always have to do a part 1 and a Part 2.There is not much to change, you can't change people, but it would be nice to get a little support back from the ones that I support, there are some that already do that but there also a few that I don't post in there diaries for that reason I usually don't get ANY responds or comments back after I post in theirs so I don't visit them anymore and it really aggervates me.

Maybe when a NEWB opens an account after 30-60-90 days of being unactive and they posted less than 5 times maybe delet them and if they decide to come bacl later then they can start AAa NEW account?I was looking through the members list and there are a TON of peeps with 1 or less posts that sighned up a LONG time ago I would imagine they are not coming back anytime soon?Tammy

Nia just hit a hot button of mine - the word NEWB - ban the word - the are new members - newcombers

Quote:
Newbie is a slang term for a newcomer to online gaming or an internet activity. It can also be used for any other activity in whose context a somewhat clueless newcomer could exist. It can have derogatory connotations, but is also often used for descriptive purposes only, without a value judgement.
It's derogatory...

and i'd like it gone

I really like that idea... and have implemented that at other sites as well

- the only thing I like about the reps is the little personal messages people have given me on it. I could care less if it shows under my info. Wonder if there is a nice way to give little pats on the back like that... It's like a little motivation section for me Of course there are comments and such but the short notes are just something extra. Maybe reps could be renamed "motivators" or something and it won't be added up or anything but just for the idividual??? Not sure if that makes sense or is even doable....

I can see how newb could be derogatory.

But what about "boob?"

LOL.

I actually turning off my rep display b/c I think it's stupid.

However, I still enjoy the messages people leave me and I was hoping they would still be viewable.

But they weren't.
