My signature, which I had just managed to squeeze in under the 250 character limit, is now unchangeable because the limit is reduced to 200 characters!

What happened? It's no major problem to change my sig, but I thought the 250 character limit was pretty good, nobody had any huge sigs which messed up the layout.

Maybe some people are still using too many tickers, etc. so they're limiting it now.

Someone should have told us....here I am getting all pissy cause I can't change my signature and I couldn't figure out why...

I erased all of my signature and just left my ticker in and it still won't update!!!

Ok, it seems that the bbcode itself has to be limited to 3 lines.

sorry. The changes follow these guidelines:
- max 3 lines
- max 200 characters including BBcode
- max 100 characters without BBcode
- max font size of 4

the changes were encouraged by our "Friend" fuel2win. Her signature was beyond acceptable, so i tightened it a bit. It has nothing to do with the tickers (despite how much I hate them ).

I will put the bbcode back to 250 ... that should allow for you to change your tickers. Before i made the change, I checked and only 10% of the people would be affected ... guess it was the wrong 10%

arg i have a small ticker but because its text intensive the 100 character rule catches me out, heck my cw/gw/etc is 79 characters - come on whos gonna have 250 chars with bbcode and only 100 chars unless they are having tons of urls and tickers?

I'm annoyed. My signature is not huge...it's not taking up a gross amount of space and still I can't update it. I even tried to take the ticker out and only have the SW: GW: crap and it said it was too many lines (how are 2 lines equal to 3 lines I'll never know.)

My point is this: If someone is being a booger and abusing the signature rules---how about you ban them instead of punishing the rest of us law abiding citizens.

Kaitie, make sure all the lines in the BBcode itself (not the outcome) is three lines.

It was two lines! I freakin' took everything out and only had:

[CENTER]SW: 203.5 CW: 165.5 GW: 130
38 pounds lost; 6.5 to go[CENTER]

and it still wouldn't do it! Grrrr.

yeah a lot of us have opted for the smaller sigs.

Is it possible to make Senior members or above have longer limits?
Its usually the newbies that have all the huge sigs. Either that or ban the eggs who have em.

first, it's always been 3 lines ... for at least 6 months anyway.
second, vB doesn't allow for exceptions for different members other than mods and admins.
third, 250 characters for a signature (including BB code) is a ton. Our other forum is (-- this is 250 characters right here ... looks like a lot to me --) only 150 characters and has 3 times the members with 0 complaints ... I'll increase the regular characters from 100 to 150, but i'm leaving the bbcode at 250. There is no need to have that much bbcode in a signature.

I know you will all hate me, but you will also learn how to optimize your code. For example, you may have a ticker that looks like this:
... that will easily become
and look exactly the same.

My other alternative was to use an image for the lot.

Whilst we're on the subject of images in sigs. Can we have a maximum size on those?
Although its xmas and all that, seeing a 350px wide animated sleigh every other post is somewhat annoying

I found a couple of weeks ago that the limit had been reduced, and thought fine -I'll cut it down a bit. Now it wont let me keep my sig because it can only be 3 lines. Gonna give up on sigs soon 8-) same old story, a few people ruining it for the rest of us because they wont abide by the rules.

As somebody else said, they should ban the people not conforming, not further restrict the rest of us.

Geez, way to ruin it for everyone else.
