I believe they are here to stay. They will fade quite a bit over time to the point of hardly recognizable, but will not go away completely. That is my experience and quite a few moms I have asked that question before.
Wish I had a different answer for the both of us.!!

| LOL. I meant in my quest to find the answer to the same question I asked moms!! They were more willing to talk about such subject. You know what I mean?!
I am a girl and it is still embarrassing, and I had them way before my motherhood started.
yes, they will fade and became smaller. I just read another tread talking about the same topic. The suggestion was to get Vit. E capsules, brake them and just apply directly to the strechmarks. Well, it can't hurt I might give it a try.

Hajni | Instead of getting the capsules and breaking them, they have Vitamin E Oil. It works pretty well to cover up scars too. It takes some time though, it's not an overnight process. It could take months. I haven't heard of it working on stretch marks, but it may; and its worth a try if you're willing to spend. Vitamin E isn't cheap. |

Rep Power: 89 | | | I've heard that cocoa butter helps. Anyone tried that? I have, but not consistantly, so I can't say. I will say that mine are starting to fade considerably, so that's a good sign. |

Rep Power: 27 | | | They do fade and a tan helps make them less noticable. You can also go to a cosmetic surgeon and have them removed via laser. That's what I plan to do after we are through having children (1 more). |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Cocoa butter does not help at all. Every person in my family has tried it, and it has not worked for a one of us.
It does, however, give a nice tropical scent throughout the day. |

Rep Power: 8 | | Hey All I was riddled with stretch marks after my first pregnancy, they were bright red, dark purple, thick and disgusting almost completly ran up both sides of my body and all the way up to my belly button. My mum came across Bio oil working at priceline and its about $17 for the bottle and it is miracle cure for stretchmarks and scars : ceaser ect My stretchmarks are basically gone compared to how they were, they are faded silver grey and only slightly visable during the day so im amzed at what that oil and a little weightloss can do.
regaurding the Palmers Cocoa butter I personally swear by it for 'preventing' stretchmarks I dunno about fading them but preventing yes, Ive just had twins and I was the most pregnant thing youve ever seen in your life and didnt get one stretchmark, and considering how worse for wear I was with my singleton pregnancy I beleive its because, from the minute I found out I was having twins I just lathed myself in it, as for the tropical smell my daughter always told me I smelt yummy, like chocolate.

Rep Power: 11 | | | They dont go aways but they can fade alot and in some people depending on the time seem invisible in the right lighting.
I really do not believe that coco butter prevents them because I creamed up my entire pregnancy and still got them.My mom had 5 kids and didnt get a single one so its just about luck! |

Rep Power: 7 | | There is no laser or product that is proven to remove stretch marks. Surgery to remove the stretch marked skin will remove them completely (obviously) and lotions/creams can help to fade stretch marks. However, (almost) all stretch marks will fade over time.
Depending on your genetics and the lotions/creams you use, you can moisturize your skin to prevent stretch marks. Keeping moisturized is half the battle to preventing stretch marks. |
