Pregnancy

I am pregnant. Acutally we didn't really want another baby but now we are really looking forward to the birth. Right now I am in the 6th week of pregnancy. But I am really afraid that I might have this ravenous appetite for abnormal food and chocolate which I used to have during my last pregnancy. But this would mean gaining weight again. What can I do?

remember you're eating for two - just not two full grown men

talk to your health care provider about what you should or shouldn't be eating - about an exercise plan for the duration of your pregnancy and enjoy...

Motivation is not something you find or lose, have or don't have. It is the product of how you see yourself in the world: active or passive, effective or ineffective, powerful or victimized, normal or pathological.

I noticed when I was preg with my 2nd child I craved healthy stuff. Lots of Citrus and Cabbage. I wasn't attracted to junk food, chocolate or any thing like that. Maybe this time it will happen for you.

Eat healthful meals, try to stay away from sugar and excess salt, but don't 'diet'. Wait until after the baby is born.

I gained 40 pds w/ my 1st pregnancy..but w/ my 2nd, I was so concious of what I was eating that I didn't gain any extra weight!

Remember, that eating for 2 is just an old wives tale! Just make sure you really eat healthy meals! You'd be surprised how important that is to the little one also, walking is a GREAT excersize!! I know there are some fitness dvds that focus on pregnant woman, you might wanna check that out.

I'm with Mal though, Consult your doctor 1st!!

btw, CONGRATS!!! babies are soo precious!

No need to eat for two. When I was working as a nurse(I have not been working for a few years, so forgive me if I am not totally correct) I remember it being that you only needed 300 extra calories per day. Drink a couple extra cups of milk and that will be good.
