Rep Power: 0 | | | Got a Streaker Problem.... Okie dokie, I'm not really a new mommy but I am a mommy with questions lol. I have 6 year old boy/girl twins and a 23 month old boy. I potty trained the twins with ease, it was amazing how well they did, didn't even have to use pull ups, went straight from diapers to panties and underwear. Its not the case with the 23 month old though. He recently started saying he wanted to pee in potty so I went and bought him a potty that sings when they do their business, he's catching on great with 1 problem. He won't keep his diaper on in between potty times, he'll take the diaper off and throw it away and run to his potty where he usually pees everytime but I can't keep the diaper on him! I have gotten stern with him and even used time outs but the diaper still comes off! I dunno what else to do, I got him some underwear but he just takes them off and streaks again! We don't really like the idea of him streaking cause our daughter who is 6(nearly 7) is getting very curious and we think she might not need to see him naked plus we don't want him going to my parents and streaking. We had company the other nite and he streaked several times which embarrassed us terribly, especially my hubby who is extremely old fashioned and modest about his entire family(me and daughter have to wear shirts over our bathing suites lol). So my question is, anybody got an idea of how to keep the streaker in his diaper? Please help lol, I'm going to spend the weekend with my parents and taking the potty but don't want to have to chase streaker around putting diaper back on. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Rep Power: 39050 | | Once I started potty training, I got rid of all the diapers. We are too big for those now. We wear underwear. So that would be my first step. It is best done on a weeks vacation when you have the time to do all the extra laundry though.
If he is going to the potty to do his business it sounds to me like he is just playing a new game he has discovered. Sounds like two seperate issues. He is having a blast with his new game and it will be up to you to not make it fun anymore. They learn so early what pushes our buttons. |

You sure he's not doing it because it gets a reaction out of you?
He probably gets fussed over and attention - kids do not always distinguish between good attention and bad attention...

Rep Power: 0 | | | I'm gonna pick him up some "big boy underwear" this weekend, and I believe you're right about the game part and the attention. He gets fussed at for streaking but the twins laugh about it. They have gotten better since I sat them down and explained that its not good to laugh cause it only makes him want to do it again. Maybe after I get the underwear I can get him to realize its not a game, any tips on what to say or do? I think the biggest problem is that I started to strong with the whole potty thing, I made a huge deal about him using it for the 1st couple of days. I know it takes time and patience to potty train guess I'm just trying to hurry and get the 1st couple of weeks rolled into a few days.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I've been trying to potty train my daughter for the last few weeks...she's driving me crazy. Lately, she's been peeing in her pull-up, then going in the bathroom and taking it off herself, then coming in and asking me to give her a new one!! O.K....if she's realizing that she's wet right after, maybe I should just go with the panty thing and see how it works!! For some reason it didn't even occur to me to start with that....I just went right to pull-ups. I think they're not working because they're too much like a diaper. Please keep us posted on how your streaker does...I'm going to get some panties this weekend.
I'm dreading the laundry situation though.....I hope we don't have too many accidents on the couch!!
BTW...I'm new here....how do you guys get the weightloss ticker on the bottom of your replies? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | My twins worked great with the straight from diapers to panties and underwear. I took them to WalMart and let them pick out their own and explained that they could wear them as long as they used the potty like big boys and girls. It worked like a charm. The pull ups r kinda expensive so I tried that way in order to save a little money and they did great, they didn't even have accidents after the 1st couple of nites.
As for the ticker question there's a topic on them and how to get them under the new members section. I'm not good with computers at all and it was very simple once I read the forum.

| if he does it... he gets a time out... not fussing, he gets put in a chair -by himself... for 10 minutes... he gets told why he's being put in the time out - no cutesy baby talk... and he gets left alone for 10 minutes...
Consquences...

Rep Power: 321 | | I'm going to throw in my two cents in because I went through this with my younger sister and I've heard the stories of how my mother did it with me. I don't have kids though, so I won't be offended if this falls of deaf ears.
My mother worked my sister and I into potty training (which was about 95% successful except those times you just CAN'T get their fast enough) at about age 1-1.5. I was potty trained on my 1st birthday, my sister took a little longer. My mother immediately let US get "big girl panties" when we started using the facilities correctly. Of course, there's going to be accidents...which is why it's important to make the choice their OWN when it comes to underroos. They will realize they've soiled something of their own (something special to them, one would hope). Each time my sister and I were successful in using the facilities (either #1 or #2), my mother would allow us to pick a treat. We got a choice of 10 cents put into our piggy bank (to be used at the dollar store later) 5 M&Ms or 1 water balloon to be used outside (I think my mom had some other ideas too, but these are the ones I can remember). My mother could not afford to get us a little "singing toilet" (nothing against those that can)...so my grandfather made me a little stool (no pun intended) that I could use to get up and down off the toilet. I got to choose the color (red). My grandmother wrote a cute poem and my grandfather hand-painted the top of it with the poem (lord, it was YEARS before I could actually READ the entire poem on my own, lol). Anyway, we would come reap our reward shortly after finishing our business and showing mom what we did. My mother was successful in 1 weekend with me...and about 2 weeks with my sister.
When the streaking stage was there, my mother excluded us from whatever the family was doing because "big girls wear clothes to dinner" or "big girls wear clothes to go outside"...and she'd find something to do on short notice that was a "big deal" so that the lesson stuck. Primarily, it was going to the dollar store to cash in our money for going potty. And she'd explain, "You were a big girl for using the bathroom correctly...big girls have to wear clothes. I'm going to the dollar store. If you'd like to go as well...you'll have to be fully dressed. That includes wearing your big girl underwear". Sadly, my little brain didn't buy much more than more "big girl underwear" when we went to the dollar store. I only helped to con myself into younger potty training, lol. I should have tried to have made things harder on my mom
Good luck!

I have no clue on potty training or streaking, though. Mine trained herself (both day and night) with no input from me, and kept her clothes on with no input from me. (She's got her downsides, just not in either of those areas.)

Rep Power: 0 | | | Yeah 10 minutes seems a bit long I agree but 2 minutes won't work with him, trust me I've tried that with the hair pulling stage. I think I will start out at maybe 5 and if that doesn't work I'll add another minute or so. My twins were trained within a week for my son and a few days longer with my daughter. Thanks for all the helpful advice. He's done better since my 1st post, I got the twins to quit giggling today for a change and it seemed easier to keep his diaper on.
Edit: I am also gonna try the idea of rewards, he loves money and has a cute little frog penny bank. I think he'll enjoy getting a few cents for "froggy to eat".
