Rep Power: 0 | | | I'm not a Mommy, please don't kill me! Hi! I'm not a Mommy, but I thought that you ladies would be able to relate...
My husband and I recently decided that the time is right for us to start a family, but before we do so, I want to lose some weight. I don't want to get pregnant and be so fat that I have to be rolled around or I can't move!
So, my question is this? How many of you ladies lost weight before you got pregnant? Is this a common thing?

Rep Power: 0 | | i had my stomach stapled before i got pregnant.. turns out i couldn't have children, but yes.. the intent was to lose weight before any pregnancy which was obviously recommended by my doctor. i think it is a common thing, and seems logical and sensible to me.. GOOD LUCK!!!

Rep Power: 0 | | | Hello! Before my 1st child i lost 70lbs, and gained 40lbs while pregnat. i couldn't lose it all and i got pregnat again, I seemed to lose all that weight easy but i'm still stuck with the 1st baby weight. i would suggest loseing weight before, it helps in getting pregnat and you won't feel so big and you'll just feel better about yourself! And also when you are heavier when you get pregnat, diabetes can play a big part. Good luck to you! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Getting into the best health BEFORE pregnancy is a GREAT plan! Go for it! Obesity in pregnancy increases your chances for a BUNCH of complications and problems.

Rep Power: 530014 | | I gained weight with each pregnancy, it made all the health problems 100x worse like high blood pressure.
For the last 2 i ended up being in hospital for a couple weeks. Never again. I would fully agree with you loosing the weight before getting pregnant and inbetween children if you need too
Dont be a dufus like i was lol |

Rep Power: 0 | | | me as well Hi there, As well I have had 2 children and want a 3rd but I decided this time I needed to loose some weight and get healthier before I tried to have my 3rd baby. I also ended up very sick when I was pregnant and lost about 15-20lbs in the first 4 months with both my children. I feel getting fit and healthy may help with that. Good Luck on your Weight loss!!!

But please make sure that you still get enough nutrients because you want to be in the pink when you do start trying to have a baby. As soon as you start trying to get pregnant stop trying to lose weight by dieting but through exercise instead. That doesn't mean you can eat whatever you want but you should load up on nutritious food and supplements! Good luck! |

Rep Power: 18 | | | You're definitely on the right track. Try not to lose with a Get Quick Diet plan. Make the changes as you would for a healthy long term committment. You're going to need all food groups and vitamins to set yourself up for the Fun Getting Pregnant Stage!!!
Happy Trails!!!

Rep Power: 1238 | | | I was a healthy weight before pregnancy and definately think it's a good idea to be a healthy weight before you become pregnant both for you and the baby. Eat well after you become pregnant too though, it is only supposed to be a 20 to 25 pound gain! That was my mistake and I'm paying for it now.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I think even if you dont have to lose weight before getting pregnant its still a good idea to start eating healthy, it can make your pregnancy SO much easier.
I would start just trying to eat healthy, and take prenatal vitamins (yes before you get pregnant) and get yourself on the right track. It will also help you when ttc.
Depending on how much weight you have to lose, but my sister had a nutritionist while she was pregnant, and she ended up coming out of the pregnancy losing 15lb.
