Newbie from Toronto

Hi all,
This is the first time I have joined any type of forum online related to weight loss and I am really hoping to find some support here. I have always gone it alone and so far have been very unsuccessful (I tend to yo-yo a lot).
I am turning 25 soon and that marker seems to have been the jolt I need to get off my butt and do my best to loose the weight I need to and get healthy. I am 5'7" and currently 220lbs. My first goal is 191lbs. I choose this because I am trying to drop my BMI from 34.5 to 29 (Obese down to Overweight).
My plan at the moment is embracing the fact that I love to dance. (Does anyone beside me feel you have to look like a model to go to some gyms ) I invested in some instructional DVD's which double as cardio for me and am trying to eat much healthier ~ I've purged all the junk from my cupboards *sniffle* I admit that my biggest weakness is take-out, so I have to figure out someone to keep from falling into old habits.
I guess that's the gist of what I am doing at the moment, I hope to meet some great people on here and achieve my goals with a little added support ^^

Hey there, good for you in seeking support. I totally understand where you are coming from. First of all, I joined a co-ed gym that my boyfriend goes to. I have always gone to woman's gyms because i felt that i would be made fun of at a regular gym. I was so suprised how wrong I was. Really nice people *not that there wont be an occasional jerk, but you find that everywhere..lol* sucks to be them!
As for the take out, I used to LIVE on take out. It was crazy, It took a fair amount of effort, but im finally getting over my cravings for take out. I had to phone a friend a couple of times to take my mind off of stopping at the drive through, but it was well worth the effort. I try to eat at nice sit in places where i have healthy choices, if i want to eat out. * I still have my occasional burger and fries though. *doesnt taste as good to me as it used to.
I hope you find all the support you need here, Just remember that youi are not alone, and many of us here share the same feelings and problems.
Michelle

Hi! welcome. I so totally understand the craving for junk food. The last time i got takeaway, i was so guilt ridden that i poured water over it & ruined it. waste of good food but saved myself.
