Red face New! :)

Hi everyone!

My name is Katherine. I'm 20 (almost) and I'm in college. I'm 5'8", weigh 256 now, would like to end up at 140. Eventually.

I've been tracking my calories since Friday, and have hit my target of 1400-1500 calories every day. I've also been going to the gym and biking 7+ miles on a recumbent stationary (so great! I must own one!), and walking a lot more...but it's really hot, so the gym is much more pleasant than a jaunt around the neighborhood!

I don't own a scale. I think I'd be too obsessive about using it at home, so I'll make do with the ones available at the gym and health center. I'd rather focus on doing the right thing for my body, in terms of eating when I'm hungry and getting a challenging workout in on most days.

Anyway...that's it! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome! You're off to an awesome start!

Try using several different machines while you're at the gym- you'll get a much better workout and better results.

Being able to use lots of different machines is a great goal for me to work towards, but right now I'm just trying to avoid making my arthritis worse. I need to go as low-impact and non-weightbearing as possible until my poor joints can handle more.

Best of luck! One of my best friends has rheumatoid (sp?) and it causes her a lot of pain sometimes. Cycling is great exercise though
