New here and having trouble

Hello all...

I'm new and in need of some answers or help. I've been walking 3 miles per day (averaging 18-19 miles per week) and eating approx 1200-1500 calories. I haven't lost anything!! The scale has stayed the same and my clothes do not fit any better!!

About a month ago I went to get my blood work done and the results were not good...so I changed my diet completely for the better and have not faultered on it at all! I eat several small meals a day...I know I'm doing that right. I've also been walking 3 miles per day, if not more...I drink nothing but water throughout the day except for my coffee in the morning. I'm getting very frustrated!!!

My hubby has decided to do this with me, but he's no help at all. He thinks this is a competition and he's winning!! He's not supportive at all!!

Oh - I also quit smoking a month ago too...the only thing I've substituted in place of smoking is a better lifestyle...I have not pick up candy habits or gum...If I really need something to kill a craving, I eat carrots, brocolli, etc or I make a strawberry/banana smoothie with 1% milk.

Any help would be appreciated...I could really use it!! I'm trying so hard and feel like I'm not getting anywhere. My stats are 5'4" - 175 lbs.

Thanks!!

Deejay

Deejay, it sounds like you are doing everything right. How long have you done this for? Sometimes these things take time to show on the scale and in the way your clothes fit.

Are you really at 1200-1500 calories per day? If you weigh and measure all your food for a week, you'd be surprised at what portions really are versus when we estimate. That is a problem I'd say most people have.

Good luck, and come back.

i'd make sure that you are indeed weighing and measuring what you are eating and using an online food journal to record your daily calories...

Thanks for the help...yes - I do know for sure I am around 1200 - 1500 calories per day...in fact I'm more near the lower end than upper. I track all of my calories and exercise at fitday.com and when I can't get there everyday - they are in a journal.

I'm going to continue with what I'm doing and just cut my portions down a bit more...not really sure how much I'm going to cut...but I'll do a little bit at a time. I've also added weight training into the mix of everything...so hopefully I'll start seeing the results there too.

Thanks again!!
