Smile new - seeking advice

I've been a reader in this forum for some time now. I have finally decided to take the plunge and change my life once and for all. I used to be in pretty good shape in college and well ever since then its been the 7-10 lbs / year weight gain. I'm still in my 20's so I think I can lose the weight.

I wanted to have an idea what is a realistic weight loss in about 3 months. My expected routine is going to be 45 - 1 hour on the eliptical. Light weights for 20 mins and then swim for another 20-30 mins. I've been pretty good on this schedule for about 3 weeks now and have dropped 10 already. But I also know that the initial weight drop is much faster. I am at about 250 right now.

As a guy I've heard that men drop weight more easily than women - is this true?

I've also set a pact with a friend of mine who is female - she is going to try and do the same for the next 3 months as beginning also - what is realistic for her as well. She won't tell me her weight - but I would ballpark around 170-180.

I'm not looking for miracles, and I know that this has to be a lifestyle change.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

Hello and welcome. New here myself

I can tell you from experience and what I have read - Guys/Men loose weight faster than women. Im sure someone here can give you specifics on why -but I myself am not sure.

Also, depending on your starting and goal weight, loosing may be a bit more difficult. Example..

If your 250 and you want to be 200 - the first 20 or so lbs might be easy, but the next 30lbs are goingn to be tougher. You will have to work harder.

Where as if you are 350 going to 200 - the lbs fly off pretty fast and painlessly as long as you keep up to a routine.

Then again, this all could be bunk and it all depends on your body. You have to do what works for you.
