I discovered this forum after searching for weight loss support. It seemed to be an active and friendly place, and I'm hoping to find support as well as some accountability when I make poor choices.
A little about me: I am 22, female, a recent college grad working their first "real" job, and trying to maintain commitment to a healthier lifestyle. There will be more details in my diary, but the short version is that I gained weight as a side effect of medication in high school - over 70 lbs. over 3 years. In college smoking allowed me to eat whatever I wanted and maintain my weight, so I had horrible eating and exercising habits. However, after quitting smoking over a year ago, my weight has fluctuated a lot. I did manage to lose some weight though vigilant calorie counting, but that approach wasn't very sustainable and I've gained half the weight back.
Today I called a wellness center affiliated with my work and signed up for a free health program. I meet with an exercise physiologist and a nutritionist next week, and I also get a free 3 month gym membership and sessions with a trainer. I am hoping that this sort of structured plan, in addition to this site, will give me the support I need to make permanent changes.
So, that's my situation in a nutshell - as I said, there will be more extensive details in my diary.
