SlimFast?

Has anyone ever tried using slimfast as dieting? I just bought some slimfast shakes and snack bars. Since being pregnant I can't replace meals with this shakes. As they say on the package but I can add it to my healthy food choices. So I'm not sure if ill lose weight but hopefully won't gain as much as I would if I was to eat whatever I wanted and didn't watch what I ate. So I hope it atleast helps me out. And do they taste good if you have tried them?

Kate

You're pregnant. You should be asking your obstetrician what foods you should be eating to ensure a healthy pregnancy. You should not be asking strangers on the internet what you can eat so you "don't gain as much."

Allyphoe,

Why the hostility? , its a valid post.

Okay for a more constructive reply.....

My sister has 6 children and did this and to be honest it didnt make an ounce of difference , excuse the pun , lol

I think being pregnant does so much to your hormones and attitude to life and food that no amount of shakes or similar will do the trick. The only way to lowe weight whilst pregnant would be to do nothing but slimfast and exercise like mad and that obviously is a no no as your pregnant.

Id recommend eating healthy, and then when the babies born and youve given it a few months to get back to yourself then probably do the slimfast diet or just a healthy eating plan that wont carry a risk of upsetting the pregnancy.

Hmmm...this seems incredibly silly to me. Why would you want to be feeding your baby a chemical concoction?

You will gain weight while pregnant since you are already pretty thin, it's just a fact of life. The only time I have heard of weight loss during pregnancy was when someone i know who was already overweight was eating so healthy for her baby that she actually lost a good amount of pounds. Your main priority should be keeping your child healthy with as many all natural foods as possible. You're right that being pregnant can't excuse women for eating whatever they want for nine months and then complaining their baby made them fat, so you just need to remember control. There is a mommy's section on this board with lots of people who could give you good advice, or like ally said, ask your obstetrician.

Congratulations by the way. How far along are you?

there are several threads on slimfast already on the forum - searching helps burn calories

Slimfast isn't recommended as a diet aid because you don't get the food satisfaction from the drinks -not to mention read the ingredients list -why would you want to put chemicals that you can't pronounce into your body - especially while you are pregnant.

Pregnancy isn't an excuse to eat everything in site, you might be eating for two, but that's not two full grown men... this is the time you want to eat healthy natural foods.. not crap out of a can...

and allyphoe's right - you should be asking your health care professional about nutrition info - not random strangers on the internet...
