Sexiness starts from the inside. Feel sexy and by the summer you WILL be sexy. Even if you are not at your goal weight. Good Luck.

Rep Power: 1494 | | Thanks for the great encourgment! as far as if you should wait thats up to you...me and my husband didn't "plan" to have our daughter, but we love her to death and DONT regret having her at all,but having a child at ANY age isn't a easy task,so if you guys aren't opposed to waiting maybe give it 3-4 more years....but if you feel that you all are stable enough and financially ready go for it!.. i've always wanted to be like my mom and only have one child(i just originally thought i would be like 23yrs old.) but hey. I wish you lots of success.and yes Depo truely is EVIL..i still can't believe that crap is FDA approved i mean COME ON!!

WAIT!! I was 19 when I had my first, 20 with my second, 22 with my third. My husband and I divorced when I was 24. Having kids that young makes life INFINITELY harder. We ALWAYS struggled to make ends meet. I'm nearly 29 now, and am just finishing up my nursing degree which is what I've always wanted to do, and at one point, because I had kids to support, thought I'd never be able to. At 19 you have no idea what life can throw at you, nor have you had the time to be able to gain some working skills or a college degree. There is a difference between being financially ready and financially stable. I love my kids more than anything in this world, and wouldn't trade them for anything, but would not wish having kids that young upon anyone. You have plenty of time. Take this time to get to know yourself, get a stable career, ensure your marriage is stable and strong. At 19 you haven't had time to do any of those things yet. I know from experience. I too thought it wouldn't really make a difference if I was 19 or 25... boy was I wrong!! Do yourself a favor and just wait awhile.

I can agree that wishes is definatly the best as well! Good luck on your weight loss journey! | I can tell you right now that the drug does make you gain weight i had always struggled with keep my weight down all the time but it wasnt hard to take it off if i had gained and since ive been on the depo its just kept coming on and it has never been like this before, i used to be able to gain some pounds and exercise it off quickly now i excercise daily and it doesnt do a whole lot
and as far as your remark about her personal life i think its fantastic that she is abel to be married and have a child that young it shows a lot about her capability as a person and how strong she is , i got married at 18 and am now almost 20 and thinking about having a child. |

Rep Power: 22095 | | | most drugs cause weight gain because they increase appetite. birth control usually falls under this category. the depo people know full well their product causes weigth gain but you were probably not told when you decided to use it. i've been on medications that caused weight gain too and it sucks but i know i ate too much...and now i don't take those drugs unless absolutely necessary. |

Rep Power: 2232 | | | Welcome to the board, I'm new here as well and summer is a big goal for me, too. Going to visit family in Az, so lots of pool time.
Anyhow, my wife was on depo for nearly 10 yrs and she gained about 20 lbs in the first 2 yrs but then it planed off and she stayed there ever since. We also were not warned of the potential risks outside of weight gain, ie. bone density loss, adult acne, depression (mild to extreme), etc. Fortunately my wife only experienced the weight gain, which like I said, tapered off after about 2 yrs. Each body reacts differently to certain drugs. For the poster that said the drug didn't "make" you gain weight, overeating did, please save your negative comments for somewhere else, this is supposed to be for SUPPORT. Many women have gained weight during the use of depo provera without any change in their diet or exercise routine, so yes, direct result of the use of the drug.
Stay strong Foxy and good wishes on your goal. I've looked through these posts extensively and I can positively say this is a great place to find support, aside from the occassional negative attitude poster or lack of life trolls. Good luck and keep us updated.
Steve

Rep Power: 8452 | | I was on the depo too and man did it make me gain weight and on top of that later in life I was put on a whole series of drugs that made me gain weight by increasing my appetite. They are actually used on anorexic women to make them gain weight... the doctor really ...well I was mad. Still have the same doctor, but refuse certain drugs and am doing well on the ones I have now, which none make me gain weight.
except for a birth control pill to take me out of menopause, which pcos causes. I take it every two to three months and used to gain five pounds on it. I gained three and than gained three more, but now since have taken it all off by serious exercise and goal oriented attitudes ...
so good luck hun
and I hope you meet your goal
Wishes is actually a very nice person. I don't agree completely with what she said, because certain drugs do make you gain weight... but just know we are here for you to lend an ear ..
keep trecking
always

Rep Power: 304028 | | | There are a few people on this board who insist hormones have nothing to do with weight gain or loss. A silly concept actually, because hormones are what drive us, and LEPTIN is a hormone that drives our appetite and speed of our metabolism. Leptin makes us eat less or more, depending upon how much leptin is floating around (its created in our fat cells so fat cells are very metabolically active), and leptin also governs our metabolisms, making it speed up and slow down depending on the levels (probably quite a bit responsible for the "starvation mode" we hear about when one under eats and then stops losing weight). Obviously birth control hormones also effect our weight. Just look on every packet of pills. I was on mirena, an IUD that supposedly causes absolutely no weight gain whatsoever but there are hundreds of stories on the internet about the weight gain that these women simply never experienced until they got on this BC.
Wishes believes even pregnancy weight gain is the woman's fault and has nothing to do with hormones and all to do with eating. HELLLO!!! Hormones govern our personality, our weight and lots of stuff in between. There are zillions of women who never had a weight problem, but low and behold, they gain weight when pregnant or on birth control. Obviously it is the hormones causing this. Not only does the body say "EAT MORE" it also HOLDS ON TO FAT, meaning it slows down your metabolism, for the "baby". And sometimes the BC makes your body think your pregnant, hence holding on to fat for a baby that's not even coming.
Yes, wishes got into the 300s from her eating and exercising behavior, but that doesn't mean everyone else in the world is just like her.
Hormones are very powerful, and they often work on our subconsicous, so when our leptin or other hormones say EAT MORE, often our conscious mind is no match for our subconsicous mind. That's why its best to address the underlying reasons if they exist, and then things should fall into place from there.
