Ready to Lose Weight!

hey there. my name is brittany, and i'm almost 21! i joined awhile ago, and then kind of forgot about this site...but now i'm back and ready to lose weight. we started a "biggest loser" contest at my work and there's an $800 prize, and i'm determined to win that prize money for my upcoming wedding. not only do i want the prize, i want to lose weight to be healthy and happy. like i said, my wedding is not too far away currently i'm just eating a little healthier...trying to eat 3 meals and snacks in between..it's so hard, because i work at a burger joint..(ugh) haha. i usually walk atleast 2-3 miles every other day..but once the weather gets a little nicer, i will walk more. anyway, if anyone has any advice or suggestions, i would surely appreciate if you shared reading everyone's stories on here is so inspirational, so i hope i can stay motivated and lose all my weight! thanks everyone

wellll...we were going to get married august 8th 2008 but, we just decided tonight actually that we're waiting another year. weddings are so expensive! we're only 21 years old, and we just bought a home, so we haven't been able to save as much money as we would have liked, so we're waiting until the next summer, so we can save, and have the wedding we want to have :P but i still want to reach my goal for the summer

thanks for the comments!

i was hoping by august i would be at my goal weight of 140. or close to. if i were to meet my goal by the end of july i would have to lose about 3.5 lbs. a week. but now i'm not getting married this summer, we're postponing, but i would still like to be under 175 by summertime we'll see how it goes.

Hey, welcome aboard. You look very pretty in your AVI!

Losing that excess weight is going to come primarily from controlling your diet. Working in a burger joint must be tough.... I'd be a blimp! Do you pack food to eat while working there? Are you planning on tracking calories are just 'cleaning up' the diet?

aww well thank you very much i like my face, just not my body lol..hopefully sooon.....

yeah it's definitely tough! i'm trying to get a new job, so i can get away from it. i don't always have time to prepare food to bring to work. and we don't necessarily get a lunch break, or any breaks for that matter. so i don't have time to cook anything. it's a small business with only a few people working, so if we're busy we can't take breaks..so we always just end up eating mistakes we make on orders, whenever we get the chance. as of now, i'm not counting calories too strictly. that just makes it more stressful for me. i am eating smaller portions than normal..i know i am going to have to get a little stricter with my diet to keep losing weight. i just don't want to eat all these diet foods i don't like to lose weight..because i won't stick to that forever..

What do you consider a diet food?

I mean, you can spice up a healthy nutrition plan to taste great. In fact, a majority of the time after a while of eating 'good' and learning to make things taste good..... the things you thought once were good are not nasty.

This morning I got up and made scrambled egg whites with an assortment of veggies mixed in and fat free cheese on a whole wheat wrap along with some turkey bacon. Out of this world.

It's what you make of it.

But don't get stuck in that track of thinking eating healthy has to taste bad. You just need to use some creativity.

well, i don't necessarily think "healthy food" tastes bad...but i am an extremely picky eater, so it's really hard for me. i have tried to eat salads, raw veggies, and stuff like that, and i just can't. it doesn't taste good to me. i have forced myself to eat it, but i can't live like that haha...i hate being so picky, it makes it so much more difficult. i don't like cold sandwiches, i don't like anything "healthier" except chicken and brocolli...and it definitely gets old. lol. i lost about 40 lbs. once already and gained it all back, because all i ate was chicken and brocolli 6 times a day everyday. i'm trying to eat a variety of things...not exactly healthy, but just smaller portions. of course, cutting out candy, pop, and anything sugary. i just need to try more things and TRY to like them..
