Time to get serious about this

Hello everyone. I stumbled across this forum and it looks like a good place to get serious about my weight loss. I'm 33 and quite possibly in the worst shape of my life. I just weighed myself over the Easter weekend and found I tipped the scales at 285 lbs. I've never been this heavy!

Part of the problem is that I spent the end of 2007 caring for my mom who was suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease. She passed away at the beginning of 2008 and since then I've been dealing with depression the only way I know how: eating.

The thing is, I don't look it. Even the doctors I go to wonder where I hide the weight. I may be 285, but everyone agrees I don't look much over 250. That's why I never thought I was gaining weight; most people I know actually thought I was losing!

My goal is to lose 65 lbs and get to 220. The BMI says that's still an unhealthy weight for me, but as I said I look lighter than I am. I think 220 will be the right weight for me and if it's not, I'll just set a new goal.

My tools will be calorie counting and home exercise (I'm temping so I can't afford a gym) I'm aiming to eat no more than 2200 calories a day and doing basic exercises (push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, etc) 3 times a week and walking/stair climbing 3 different days, resting on Sunday. I almost got there once. Maybe with support I can make it and keep it this time.

sounds like you are on the right track. Like you i dont look my weight - hence why i have a fairly high goal weight. I used to think i looked slim for my weight but now looking back i still looked like a butterball

You know what to do by the looks though, cant wait to see how well you do !
