I'm new! An introduction :)

Hello
I thought that joining a forum would help me in achieving my weight loss goal, as there'd be other people to keep me motivated and to give advice and share tips and tricks

I'm seventeen (nearly eighteen), female (if you couldn't tell by my username) and I currently weigh 69kg. I'm 168 cm's tall.
PS- I'm very sorry if you're in the US or UK and not familiar with the metric system..I'll convert it for you!
So.. outside of Australia.. I weigh 151.8 pounds and am around 5'5 tall.

I know that this places my BMI in a the 'normal' range, but there's a lot about my body that I'd like to change. I'd like to weigh 60kg by July 27th (my 18th birthday) and 50kg by December 25th.

That's a total weight loss of just under 20kg.. that's a lot of weight.

My current exercise plan is 1.5 hours in the gym every morning from 6.30 - 8 AM, and 40 minutes in the evening. On saturdays I'm at the gym from 7 - 8.30 and on sundays from 9 - 10.30 (an hour of that is a high intensity yoga class)

It would take me a long time to type out my exact exercise plan but it incorporates both weigh training and cardio, and stretching, and it's manageable. I'm really enjoying the buzz it gives me

My meal plan!

Breakfast:
1 small bowl oats w/skim milk
1 small glass of juice

Recess:
1 large green apple
water

Lunch:
1 sushi roll
OR
Carrot and celery sticks with hummus
OR
1 sandwich on wholegrain bread
OR
1 small salad
+ a mandarin
water

Afternoon snack:
2 oatmeal biscuits
1 small glass of fat-free milk

Dinner:
a small portion of whatever my mother makes (she's probably one of the healthiest women I know, and a brilliant cook- so no problems there)

After dinner: (when I tend to graze)
1 cup hot herbal tea (replaces hot chocolate)

I'd love some feedback, suggestions.. advice?
I'd also especially love to hear from anyone who's lost 20kg..
Is it achievable in the space of 8 months?

Thankyou,
Emmy. xx

Welcome to the forum. Do you know how many calories/day you are consuming? At your weight/height (similar to my wife's) your diet looks a little light. Have you calculated your calorie needs? I suggest doing so here. Then I recommend getting a FitDay account to track your calories to make sure you are getting what you need in the right portions.

20kg in 8 months is very very doable, that only works out to about .6kg/week. So far I'm averaging 1.1kg/week and I don't do half the gym work (yet) that you do. Good luck!

You are aiming for a very low BMI (17.7) at 17.5 you can be clinically diagnosed with Anorexia.

Maybe you should re think your goal weight? It just seems unhealthy?

And also, your food intake looks a little low. Carrot Sticks and Hommus definatly is not enough for lunch, try eating a wholemeal salad roll or TWO sushi rolls?

Looks good though, you seem focused! Good luck with your weight loss!

Maybe others know, but what is mandarin water? Is it a flavored water? Also, oatmeal biscuits...what are those? Cookies??

I agree with Austin that carrots or celery with hummus is not enough for lunch. I personally love oatmeal for breakfast but try to avoid juice. I think it's preferable to eat the whole fruit instead of drinking juice.

And welcome Emmy

re: judyb

Hi

It means 1 mandarin
And I drink water as my beverage.
The oatmeal biscuits are wholemeal, so I'm not sure if they qualify as cookies.

So one mandarin water is actually one piece of fruit? I'm still confused on the biscuits... Are you in the UK, Australia or maybe South Africa? I'm thinking biscuit is the term given to cookies in those areas (whether made with whole wheat flour or not)

Confused

We'd call a mandarin, mandarin orange. Usually they come in cans and are put in salads.

heyas

hey everyone

this is my first post here. Im looking to get some advice, help, support ect with this crippling weight problem I have had for all of my life.

2 weeks ago i started a half assed version of atkins, keeping under 20 carbs a day (excluding fiber) I do 10-20 minutes of the "gazelle" exercise machine a day (all i can do before my feet and legs give out) Last week my wife bought me a weight set at a garage sale. Its kinda old but it allows me to do all the exercises on the online weight program i found. Ive done a week so far of 10lbs on the bar doing 1-2 muscle groups spread out over a week.

about me-

im almost 30, spent my whole life eating what i want and as much as I want. My sport is video games and sleeping.
I went to the doctor last month because my chest was tight all the time and i couldn't breathe laying down anymore. He couldnt even record my weight because his scales wouldnt go that high, even with the magical extendo-matic weight attachment. he estimated im 400-430ish Im borderline diabetic and my cholesterol is 230. awesome. ><

usually i wouldnt give a crap about being fat. ive been fat my whole life it never really bothered me. Now its different. Ive got a lovely wife and a kid on the way and I dont want to die or be couch ridden like my parents were and miss EVERYTHING in life (except seafood night at the buffet)

my goal is 225 lbs. its actually how big i was in 6th grade lol

over 200 lb deficit. -@.@-

wish me luck!
