trying to drop another 85 pounds

I am trying to lose another 85 pounds. When I get on the scale everytime why does my body weight go up and down? I don't like it. How can control my body and what it does when I lose weight? I am working with a trainer, and have already lost 14 pounds in one month, but now my weight loss is slowing down some and going up and down. I am changing my workout, which is good for me according to my trainer. I hear that some people have lost this weight in one year. Is it possible for a big built 32 year old male? I do lift weights, and understand that muscle weighs more than fat, but I still need some help. Anybody please???

Many reasons, most of which have absolutely nothing to do with real decreases or increases in body fat. Most of those reasons could be summarized as "more or less water in my body, due to X," for a couple hundred values of X.

A scale is absolutely, 100% worthless for identifying short-term gains and losses of "real" weight - what you'd weigh without water variance. You've got to go out at least 2 weeks, and more like a month, even with a pretty large caloric deficit, to be able to see real weight change with a scale.

Every time your brain thinks a thought you don't want to have, consciously replace it with a thought you do want to have. (Seriously, it works. Cuts way down on the unwanted thoughts, and after a while, you don't believe the stuff you're trying to get rid of, because you replace it so automatically.)

Personally, I suggest "I'll make a note of that to identify long-term trends" as a replacement thought for "What the heck did I do that made the scale do that!?" Because most of the time, there's nothing you did that made the scale go up or down, and trying to control the scale will just make you crazy.
