Need to Learn to Motivate

Hi. I'm here because my wife found out that she has Fibromyalgia recently, and the doctor told her that he wanted her to lose between 30 and 60 pounds. I asked her if she punched him, because I know if I ever said anything like that, I'd definitely get punched! He told her that he wants her to work out 3 times a week and go swimming twice a week. She already goes to workout 2 or 3 times a week at Curves, so it's not going to be a huge change in what she's use to.

In the past, I've tried to be as supportive as possible when she's tried various workouts and diets, but I think after a couple weeks she always thinks that I'm judging her if she stops working out or cheats on her diet.

Now that her doctor has told her to lose weight, she asked me to try to find ways to be supportive, because she doesn't know either. Basically, I just need to know what to do and say to keep her wanting to work out and eat healthy and what to do and say when she gets frustrated and wants to stop. I'm more than willing to eat the same foods and do the same exercises as her if that's what it takes. Although, I don't like going to the gym. I'd much rather find ways to work out at home, or just go walking or jogging. Of course I can't really go to Curves anyway. hehe.

I know she's wanting to get information too about ideas as far as what to do when she's just eaten and she's still hungry. That's her biggest complaint about diets. So, I'll probably tell her about this site, so maybe we both can get some good tips here.

Thanks in advance for any help that you give us!

My partner went on the Curves diet plan and I ate the same foods she ate and just adjusted the quantities for my size and goals. I haven't looked back since then. If you want to be supportive, you have to be willing to eat the same things. It doesn't seem like a diet then... it just seems like you guys have made a joint decision to eat better. That's what worked for us anyway...
