Rep Power: 0 | | | Newbie - a Vegetarian who can't seem to shed those last 10 lbs! Hi All!
I know 10 lbs may not seem like a lot, but I want to get back to my "feel good" weight - and I've just been struggling with this for more than a year now.
My history is that I've been pretty thin/normal for most of my life, but in college I gained about 25 lbs. I lost most of that weight while I was still in college, but through dangerous approaches such as laxatives, vomiting, and starving myself.
I have since gained about 15 lbs back - but this time I am much happier and healthier psychologically. I haven't engaged in any "destructive dieting" for more than 5 years, and I am committed to healthy lifestyle changes.
BUT - I just can't seem to lose these last few pounds! My big weaknesses are: 1) a pretty sedentary lifestyle - I go on a jogging "kick" for a few days, and then totally fall of the wagon; 2) I currently live in a foreign country that is not very veggie friendly - and as a result, I tend to load up on a LOT of pasta, bread, sweets, full fat cheese, sweets, etc. - even when I promise myself I won't.
Anyway - I'm looking forward to meeting many of you - and would especially love to chat with any fellow veggies out there. I've been a vegetarian my whole life - and I just LOVE it!
Best,
Veggie |

Rep Power: 10 | | I'm a life long vegetarian as well. Some people wonder how vegetarians can be overweight and I just can't help but stare at them blankly....uh...cheese, french fries, cake, beer - they are all vegetarian!
Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you are choosing the healthy route to lose weight. Are you recording absolutely everything you put in your mouth? That's the best place to start. Read the stickies on here - there's tons of info on sites that will help you track that and figure out how much you SHOULD be consuming. And of course, exercise is important too! |

I'm living in Buenos Aires, Argentina! Wonderful (especially the cheese, ice cream, croissants, pastries, ummmmm. . . just about everything, really).
Thanks for the warm welcome - I'm looking forward to working towards healthy, sustainable ways to lose the weight and keep it off. My goal is to lose about 1 pound a week - does that sound reasonable to you all?
Also thanks for understanding about being vegetarian and weight gain. Its so funny when people assume you are super, super healthy! I add to that list: cheese pizza, cheese nachos, and anything made of chocolate. Its vegetarian, but somehow just makes its way to my hips! | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
