I've lost 3 or my best friends in the world to car accidents.
I wouldn't dare disrespect their deaths by sitting on my ass. They'd give anything to have a chance to do what I'm able to do and I don't take that ability for granted, ever.
Life is short. There's going to be ups and there's going to be downs. The fact remains that we always have a choice. A choice of what to focus on. A choice of how to perceive something. A choice to act.
It's up to you to make the choices that are going to lead to the life and emotional state that you desire.

Tina,
Hi there first of all. Second, I have problems with motivation too. The thing that really seems to help me out a lot is to remember that if I want to loose the weight, I have to keep at it, no matter what. Counting cals sometimes isn't the best thing though. I have learned this through many a diet plan. The thing is, if you start cutting cals too quickly, your body goes into "starvation mode". Although it may seem like you are taking the weight off, you are loosing muscle mass. See, the body, when it goes into the starvation mode, will start to eat away, not only at the fat, but also at the muscle. That is why you feel crappy when you cut too many cals too quickly, or when you don't eat certain meals.
I found these things out the hard way. Cutting cals is a great idea, you just have to start small and work your way into the bigger stuff. What I do is, I stopped eating 3 meals a day. I eat 6 or 7 small meals, and, once a week, I cheat. I make it my "eat anything" day.
I started carrying granola bars and small snacks with me because if I didn't have them, I would stop somewhere and get something quick. This way, it cuts out me having to stop and get something bad for me, and it's quick for on the go.

Hello thanks so much for your words. I do understand the cal thing and I try not to think about them to much but then stay in a guideline. My biggest problem is not being able to exercise. It has rained for 2 weeks here in Maine and that makes it very hard to stay motivated. I just need to stop this and go and do it anyway. I know I will feel better about having done it so I don't know why I don't just do it. I have been away from the forum for awhile and I can tell my eating has gotten bad but not out of control. And I am drinking more and that needs to stop. I need to go back to my ways before my vacation. It is so hard to get back on track when you take a short detour. But anyway thanks again for you reply. Hope to hear from you again. Tina

the motivation: what would he do if he saw me and could say something to me; would he want to see you like this? three years, just hanging out in a bedroom?

That is a good one! What would anyone say who is close to you and have not seen you for awhile. Would you want them to be happy for you because you pulled yourself up? Or would you feel ashame to let them see you because you let yourself go. That is really a great way of thinking and keeping the fire going. Thanks for your thoughts. I know it is a matter of doing it we all feel much better after we workout or stick to that diet plan. So why don't we just do it? My biggest problem is putting my needs first. I always feel like there must be something else I need to be doing. And I don't take the in time to exercise. I am getting my head back in this game and I plan on winning one way or the other. Good Luck to you and keep your head in the game because you can win! Tina
