How's everyone? I am a graduate student in Alabama. I gained almost 15 pounds in the past 8 months, which really makes upset. Actually, I've been trying to loss weight for 4 months. But my pattern of eating is very bad, and I can't stop eating snack food. I started to run the day before yesterday and tried to kept myself from snack food. Hope that I can lose 5 pounds in this week.

HI there,

nice to have you on board...

well, I don't want to upset you anymore, but 5 lbs in one week seems to much to me...took you three months to gain it

I don't want to say it is not possible. When starting a weight-loss programm usually you loose a lot of water weight in the beginning which could very well be the 5 lbs you are looking for, but then it will slow down, when you start losing excess body fat. I am not an expert, so I hope I am not confusing you and you can use the info to start losing the weight in a healthy manner.

One suggestion for that...get rid of the junk food and replace them with healthy stuff, such as fruit, veggies and nuts and make sure that you get enough protein... if necessary get a protein powder and check out Weezy's recipe for the Jello Protein booster...that makes a healthy snack as well.

Remember...snacking is a very good thing...if you are snacking the right stuff.

Good Luck!!!

Hi, how is your diet going? If you have to snack on something, make it a fruit or veggie.

Good Luck
Rob

Hey there robert333,
we seem to have had a similar year. I'm 20 years old and an undergraduate. I packed on about 20Lbs this year, and have intended to lose it since the beginning of summer (now long gone). But I truly am ready to get on track now... I refuse to start 2009 like this, making some lame new year's resolution that next year will be different. Instead I am making an October resolution to be 150Lbs by the end of December lol. That's about 10Lbs a month.
Anyways, I disagree that 5Lbs is too much to lose in one week. When I first start a diet I lose the first 10Lbs really fast, I assume its mostly water. I read in a biology textbook that the average adult has 5-20Lbs of food in their digestive track... gross eh! Between that and water fluctuations your weight can change dramatically without actually losing fat. After a couple weeks of eating healthy though, I agree 5Lbs a week would be quite high.
