New and Need Support

Hi- I'm Lacey and just came across this site after searching for some weight loss ideas. I'm in a "funk" and just can't seem to motivate myself to get off the couch to exercise and lose weight. I feel like I'm educated in the realm of health and weight loss, but I just can't get myself to do what my mind already knows.

In my teens and early 20s, I thought I was fat at 130 lbs (man, if I could only go back!), but was atleast healthy and active throughout college. Then, I met my man, who is now my husband. The weight slowly went up. We were married 5 years ago, and I was 150 lbs. My pregnancy was trying, to say the least. I was on bedrest for 5 1/2 months and gained 80 pounds. After 3 years of having my weight fluctuating from 185 (low) to 240 (high) and everything in between, I need to do something because my health is taking a beating. I'm pre-diabetic, have high cholestoral, my joints ache like there's no tomorrow, and my smile has faded fast. I need help! I'm hoping that this site will offer some support in this. We'll see...

Hey Lacey I'm pre-diabetic too...was diagnosed with insulin resistance and P.C.O.S. last year. You're the only other person I've heard besides my coworker say that they ached all over too. I thought I was just heavy but ever since I've cut out the sugars and started watching what kind of carbs I eat it's gotten alot better. I've even had some pain free days in there. Anyway I think you'll find alot of support here, I really love this forum. Glad you're here and welcome.

Hi Lacey,

Welcome, I'm new myself. I know well the funk you are in but have found that if I spend more time reading up on healthy lifestyle modifications and why they're so important compared to that in front of the t.v. with some chips, the more I am both motivated and inspired.

You're joining the site is one step in many to get you going, so you're on the right track. I have made a few and read many, many posts since I've joined. There is a lot of information here and some very helpful and nice people.

Congrats on your desire to be healthy (I'm patting myself on the back, too). I'll be cheering you on!

Tarazan
