I'm 5'8", 138 lbs., 46 years old. I've always been able to maintain a healthy weight even after having 3 children. Last year I had gradually edged up to 10 lbs. over my desired weight. By reducing calories and exercising I was able to shed the extra weight in about 2 months. This year, I'm trying to do the same thing (gained it back when I got a boyfriend ) but it's not working this time. I've been averaging 1300 calories a day, and working out once a day for about 45 minutes doing a combination of strength training and aerobics. I'm seeing muscle tone but I still have extra fat around my waist and abs. I've been working at this level for about 6 weeks and have only lost a couple of lbs. What's happened? I feel like all of a sudden 1 + 1 doesn't equal 2 anymore! Why isn't it happening the way it always has before?
