My name is James, I'm 23, and obviously I am typing in this box to find out about weight loss.
Starting from the beginning and I'll make it brief and to the point.
I've been a fatty all my life, which I'm neither proud of nor ashamed of. In middle school I played football after MS I decided not to play football and play video games. In my sophomore year of HS I took up boxing, stayed with it for 2 years until my trainer moved. After that I went back to video games and potato chips. With that I went up to 312lbs. Around January of this year I began watching what I ate again and exercising. Right now I am stuck at 256. I do 30 mins of cardio a day and weight lift. My weightlifting schedule is as follows.
Monday - Chest
3 sets of bench press
3 sets of incline bench press
3 sets of decline bench press
3 sets of incline dumbbell flies
3 sets of cable cross overs
Tuesday - Quadriceps
3 sets of squats
3 sets of quadricep extensions
3 sets of leg press
Wednesday - Back and Calves
4 sets of pull-ups
3 sets of lat pull downs
3 sets of barbell rows
3 sets of single arm dumbbell rows
3 sets of donkey calf raises
3 sets of seated calf raises
Thursday - Arms
3 sets of seated double arm dumbbell curls
3 sets of easy bar curls
3 sets of tricep extensions
3 sets of standing tricep pulldowns
Friday - Shoulders and hamstrings
3 sets of stiff dead lifts
3 sets of hamstring curls
3 sets of military press
3 sets of standing dumbbell flies
Everday before this I do ab workouts. 100 crunches/reverse crunches
I came here to find out about taking supplements to get an extra edge. I know there is no miracle to weight loss.
One thing I would like to know off the bat is can whey protein help you loose weight? I've read various things on the net saying it helps.

Hi James. I have read that whey protein helps with weight loss if consumed twice a day. I don't know if it is a chemistry action or due to the fact that it helps stabalize blood sugar and helps you feel full.
The bottom line though for weight loss is achieving a calorie deficit. If you are taking in the calories you need for the day and then add in the whey protein as extra calories you will gain weight. The best thing to do is write down what you eat for a while, add your daily calories and see where you are at, compared to how many you are burning and maybe aim for a slight deficit. I think I read some where else of a small deficit of 200-300 calories a day if you are lifting weights. So you could still try the whey protein, but just take into consideration the calories you are consuming for the day.
And as far as supplements go, most weight loss supplements that are sold for weight loss do have side effects. If you're going to try something take the safer route, like coconut oil, or some good fats, say 10 raw almonds with each meal (remember to add in those calories - 80-100 for the almonds) studies show those monounsaturated fats help especially with belly fat. Eating lots of raw fruits and veggies will help also and they're very low on calories. Best of luck to you.
