Okay, I'm new! And I'll talk a bit about myself and then ask for
advice. I'll start with the basics:
I'm a female college student, 21 years old, 5'4, 190+/-5 pounds. What
are my goals? I don't know. Something healthy, I think in the 120-150
range. I'd be happy at 150. I actually haven't gained weight, in like
eight years, always in the 175-190 range (quite a range, to be sure, but never more, never less). My prefered standard of
measure is pant size, and I'd be happy with at least a size nine,
maybe a size seven. I'm pretty happy with the way I look and who I am,
but I definitly think I'd have more confidence if I wasn't so
overweight and I WANT TO BE HEALTHY! I don't exercise much now, but I
do love swimming and it'd be really easy for me to get into that
loop...
What's my deal? So I know you're supposed to like, eat less calories
than you intake. I don't want to count calories. As a college student,
the biggest culprits are fast food and soda. I don't drink soda, nor
coffee, and I don't eat fast food often. Maybe once a month. Mostly
because it's more expensive than making my own food!
So I make my own food. I pack my lunches for school, I make, what I
consider, balanced dinners. I carry snacks, mostly fruit, and used to
carry a nalgene bottle until i lost it. I plan on getting one of those
kleen kanteen ones soon.
Even with the snacks, and with the meals, I still want MORe and I want sweets! After a nice, full dinner, I find myself looking for ice cream, chocolate, for cookies. I don't buy that stuff often, though, so in it's place I'll eat cheese or buttered bread. I always feel like eating fatty sweet
stuff!

So... questions? advice?
I am starting my own journey into achieving my ideal body, so I have no sure fire advice or answers. I do commend you on talking that first step toward making goals!!!
An inspiring lady called Liz (a member of this site) has a really interesting webpage which explained so much to me about body and weight. It also showed me how to set realistic goals. The section and photos of her own personal journey is unbelievably inspiring. Check it out if you have time... It really motivated me
Ooh girl, I feel ya on the sweets! Doesn't matter how full I am after a meal, I always have room for sweets! Are you exercising at all? And by the way... welcome to the forum!
I'm not exercising as such, but I do stay active. I walk to school everyday, although it's only about a quarter of a mile away. My school is on a hill, so I walk up dozens and dozens of stairs everyday. So in essense, I'm not working out, but I am getting a work out
I do go jogging or skateboarding on the weekends, it is just very hard to do it on the weekdays. I know a girl who gets up at 5:30 everyday to hit the gym, but that's not the kind of life I want to lead. I think it's very possible to lead a non-sedentary life without having to stick to a gym regime that sacrifces sleep.
As far as sleep, I never sleep enough and properly so I always eat weird hours, too. I guess that doesn't help. I suppose I have more problems than just the weight loss!
In other notes, thanks for the welcome, again and I'm wondering where you kids get the litte counters from. I'd like one of those!

If you check out Liz's website, she explains how it is possible to lose weight by simply changing your callorie intake. She has charts that show how much you can eat based on what sort of exercise you do. It's all very interesting...
I prefer to simple stick to 5-6 regular meals but make them small and of the right kind. I enjoy the weight sessions and have a home gym, weight bench and treadmill so don't have to go out to the gym. It seems to be working well for me, and has done in the past. I am sure you'll find what works for you
As for the counters in our signatures??? If you click on them (most seem to do it) then you will open a new page where you can create your own. Follow the instructions and you can get one to. They are free and don't require email or signing up to anything
Best of luck!!!
