Ready now more then ever to lose the weight! (New to Forum)

Hi everyone! I decided to join this forum to see if I can get some extra support. I am so ready to lose more weight. I am proud of myself so far because earlier this year I had a baby and before I was pregnant I weighed 234 pounds. I gained 19 pounds during my pregnancy which put me at 253 pounds. Now I am 217 pounds. I have lost 36 pounds in 10 months. I have always been small most of my life but after becoming a wife and having children my weight slowly began to increase. Now that I am down to 217 I am trying extra hard to continue to lose weight. I guess my problem is I have 2 friends who have had the weight lost surgery and now they are so small. They both lost nearly 200 pounds each in a years time. Granted I was never as big as them but they sure have lost a lot. I feel like I am working my butt off to lose weight and I am not getting barely anywhere and all they did was have surgery now they think they are supermodels!! I even went so low as to talk with my doctor about it. I guess with the added pressure of my 2 friends having surgery and me struggling to lose weight has gotten to me a little. Any advice? Do anyone lose weight anymore without surgery? Is there a such thing as losing it naturally anymore? Well that is why I joined this forum maybe I can get some support and advice from people who are struggling like me!

Welcome to the forums, I am relatively new here as well.

As for anyone losing weight without surgery, head over to the Weight Loss Diary subforum and its relatively easy to find those who have done it through nutrition and exercise. There are a LOT of great stories in there.

Well my goal is to be at least 190 (if not smaller) by the end of March. My long term goal is to be 150 or less by June. I weighed myself today and I was 216.6 so I am happy about that! I am really good at maintaining my weight.. it is just losing weight takes me so long and it comes off really slow.

Hi there Well what it seems that you were quite happy and proud of your weight loss until your friend had weight loss surgery. Sorry to say this but you are yourself making you unhappy, I mean you are comparing yourself with your friends and thats putting you in a nutshell and you are doubting your own efforts ...While your friends did the weight loss surgery, you were experiencing new life(with your baby) , maybe your friends had some serious health issues or things like that.....Think about it, its like what you see Is the glass half empty or half full?

About the surgery , I think there are many in this forum who had been advised by their doctors to go for a surgery and instead they chose to make a lifestyle change and lose the weight...... you can see these in Before and AFTER section....This weight loss journey is much more than losing weight--- It makes you more disciplined, more positive and more in control of yourself and also boosts your self esteem

You can do it girl, just believe in yourself

Hello and welcome

I very much hope that you find this forum useful in your quest to be slimmer. I am certainly looking forward to making new friends whilst losing the old ones stuck to my hips!

Weight loss surgery should really be the ultimate resort IMO.. how can anyone maintain a lifetime of good eating habits if they have not trained themselves to do so? Anyway I wouldn't worry too much about you're friends surgery because when you reach your goal you will have so much more to be proud of, and of course your dietary habits will be healthy, whereas as your friends must still want to over eat? Think about that!

Best of luck and look forward to hearing more from you on the board!!

Hi Endurance,

First I want to say thank you for replying. I am a very happy women who has a wonderful and very supportive family around me. I do not want you to think that I am jealous of my friends because they had weight lose surgery. It is just with me working out and trying hard and every time I turn around they are saying ooh look at what I weight now adds a little pressure. They are basically rubbing it in my face.. I know both of my friends very well and I have known them and how there eating habits are for years. I know they could have tried other options but they wanted fast results without hard work. They both do have some health issues but no more then what the typical overweight person may have. I do believe in myself and I know I will lose the weight.

I know what it is like to be smaller and I know what it is like to be over weight so I am sure once I finally get this weight off I will be more disciplined in keeping it off. I am proud of what I have lost so far and so are my friends. It is just that when I see there rapid progress it makes me say WOW!!! What do I have to do to look like that. I know I should not think like that but unless you have friends around you constantly who's weight is disappearing right before your eyes and they are rubbing it in then you would not understand.

They are good friends but they are going threw something they have never exsperinced and I am just being a supportive friend but at the same time working hard to accomplish my weight lost goal naturally. So here lately I have been focusing on my goals and what I want to achieve. Again thanks for your reply!

Carlarific,

Hey girl thanks for replying. You are so right and my husband tells me that all the time I will have so much more to be proud of once I reach my goal. Girl I tell you I am working hard! I have drastically changed how much I eat and what I eat. I walk more and get on my elliptical a few times a week. When I first brought it I could not do 5 minutes on it but now I can do 45 mins and soon I am going to try an hour.

That is the thing they had the surgery but they still try to eat like they use to from time to time. Old habits are hard to break I guess. Well good luck to you on your weight lose journey. It is hard but girl I know if we stay focus, take one day at a time and make sure we increase our activities and workout whenever possible we will reach our goal. It may take a while but we will get there!!! Best of luck to you also. K.I.T
